The plastic chassis really makes the xmaxx what it is. Reduces weight, which makes a huge difference when bashing, bends to reduce strain on parts and it’s much cheaper to replace if it does break
Best thing about Traxxas is that literally everything is cheap to replace except for the electronics which you want to replace with better value stuff when it does break. Almost every mechanical part is dirt cheap on almost every Traxxas model
I don't have any experience with any 8S Arrma vehicles but I do with the Arrma Felony and X Maxx. I've ran my X Maxx into a light pole, had it cartwheel at least 40ft and only thing I damaged was the servo saver. I bent the aluminum chassis on the Felony when I crashed into a car tire at about 40mph. I'll take a plastic chassis over aluminum any day. Plastic flexes and can take abuse.
I put nuts on the thread on the camber links so now they can't push in because the nut stops it. I think the nuts are M5. You need 4 cw threaded nuts and 4 ccw threaded nuts. Cheap fix and I've never had a problem after doing that and it's been around 1 year now. M2c also do 7mm shock shafts. I've not tried them yet but when mine break I'll be upgrading to the 7mm. I love the comparison videos guys 👍🏽
I think you guys nailed it. I have 30+ cars in my collection. I personally like my arrma cars a bit more over the traxxas just because I feel like there is more options with them and they seem to handle better for me. With that being said all of my arrmas are absolute tanks. I think someone should own both!
You guys are absolutely correct, location, location, location. You need a big enough space to run these big RC'S. And when you have to preplan a day in advance for a location that makes you think 2/3 times before logging a heavy RC with you? Then yes, Traxxas X-Maxx would have to be most people's pick. And of course, parts availability and price is a huge factor as well. That being said, I personally have the Kraton 8S EXB. And parts are pretty expensive for it. And they are like attempting to find gold, pretty hard to come by these days.
@@rcplayday7937 Hobby shops are next to none existent in my neck of the woods. We have, probably like two shops in the metro area. I live on the East coast. I usually buy online, not in shops. And while some parts are back in stock, other parts aren't. Is hit and miss when it comes to parts for the Arrma rigs. I recently checked on Tower Hobbies site, and the specific parts I needed are on back order. Like I said, hit and miss.
Overall a lot more punch in the outcast and was put through much more punishment IMO maybe not as cheap when looking for parts as the Xmaxx but if money isn’t a factor I go the outcast 100% for looks, Turning manoeuvrability and out of the box performance! But big thumbs up to the Xmaxx , it’s still a beast and is one of the top choices out there
you two always do a Gr8 job with your videos...... Ive been checking in on you guys from time to time to see what new RC you two are presenting now.... always excellent content.... Thank You.....
Great vid - I’ve got both (well, Kraton EXB 1/5). I’m just a basher. Both are great, but I prefer the Xmaxx. Arrma has better electronics and Xmaxx is a better chassis / suspension , and cheaper parts. Xmaxx has better aftermarket support, though both are plentiful. Arrmas chassis bend.. even the EXbs. By the time you brace them up - it makes an already heavier truck a real piggie. Xmaxx plastic chassis is just rugged as heck , especially w/ threaded hinge pins and RPM carriers. I like the stance and the lcg of the Arrmas though. When I take them both neither disappoint and everyone comes home with a smile on their face no matter which they were driving. I wouldn’t give either up, but if I could only get one - Xmaxx by a hair.
Do you have any issues with the XMaxx overheating and you have to turn it off? Watched review by Thunder RC and he reckons to go with the Arrma Outcast instead as the motor and electronics is crap on the XMaxx. I was leaning more towards the XMaxx, but now I'm in doubt again.
I love them both but I'd have to go with the Outcast I feel it's a better racer and I'll m more of a racer Bashers should go with the XMAXX It is a beast very durable Great vid guy's 🔥👍✌️
For me the Xmaxx is the choice because where I live I can get Xmaxx parts easy and not really any shops for Arrma or they not have parts on shelf. I already have my Xmaxx half year ago. I spent 150$ on spares but never used them because nothing broke yet just an ESC fan :D
Amazing video guys!, it's always good when you guys upload :) joe, you definitely gave both of them cars hell, that skatepark is definitely going to claim some rc lives in the future haha
Great Vid. Looove my XMaxx and my mate loves his Arrma. Actually I love them both. They are both really awesome fun rigs. I really think the broken shock was bad luck. The landing looked ok. I think the thing that annoys me the most with the XMaxx is Steering servo and the fact the body pops off ALL the time in a stack. I only recently discovered you guys My next car will be a Felony (Some thanks to you two) Cheers from Brisbane
Yes, a bit of bad luck.. I also think it may have somthing to do with the fact the camber on that side was way off? But an easy repair! The felony is loads of fun! Just make sure you have the space to run it! 😅🍻
If you reinforce your xmaxx body it shouldn’t come off anymore, new bodies don’t have the issue so much but once the body starts to crack and bend more during crashes easily they’ll start to pop off, my e revo body just recently started doing it after getting a bunch of rips 😅🥲
Great videos guys! I have an X-Maxx and absolutely love it. Takes a brutal beating and just keeps on going. Can't go wrong with it :) Coming from a non Traxxas fanboy.
The Arrma might be quicker but Id bet that the chassis already has a warp in it after all that which is not a problem for the Xmaxx. Outkast looks "cooler" but the Xmaxx is the bash KING!
Nah you have go stupid or be a bad driver and than it will bend , not everyone jumps beyond there skill limits but with xxmax you can and get away with more nose dive landings
Xmaxx needs at minimum a different esc and spur gear out of the box. Shouldn’t have to do any upgrades on any car costing $1k usd. Not a fan of how easy the body pops off either. Those bigger sized cars are a blast though. Arrma is so heavy though it does break easier on huge air landings and crashes. Running either really hard expect to replace broken parts. I prefer the X-maxx overall especially after some tasty upgrades. Good video guys 👍🏻
I hear that mate, it’s crazy we have to do all these hop ups to get a more reliable rc. And if you go and try for warranty they will just say you abused it to much , but adverse them as bashers and hardcore stunt trucks. I tryed to make my xmaxx as bullet proof as I could without costing basically another one. But I went a bit crazy in the end. 1100 max 6 hw, rpm front and rear hub carriers , rpm arms, rpm hinge pins all round, “the brace” for drive shaft support, traxxas servo upgrade ( which should really be already in it) mod 1.5 30/35pinion gears, motor screws upgrade , few dress up bits not for reliability just looks . Nerf bars, spur gear metal cover, lights, and body shoe goo trick. So hopefully it’s pretty much bomb proof. Good luck with your RC adventures.
I have had an xmaxx for over 2 years. I consider it my baby. I have put it through hell and back a few times. I'm upgrading it recently and I found the motor, where the wires entered, was broken. I could see inside, but that Valenion still ripped. After knowing how heavy the xmaxx is, I can't imagine carrying the outcast.
Nice, I'll wait for kids to sleep first so I can watch it on the TV rather than on my 5 inch phone. This is big screen worth 🤣 thanks for the great content. Much appreciated 👍
Hahaha! They sound like fighter jets cruising around on the dirt at the start! Been waiting for this comparison for a while now! TRAXXAS TOUGH! I’d love to see a tekno eb48 2.0 and the Losi eight x elite next :) 🙏 Another awesome vid guys keep it up
Love my 8s X-Maxx. Other than driving it into the deck at about 40mph and creating 2 separate pieces. Clean break at the front bulkhead. Don't own any 8s Arrma vehicles but I like my Kraton 6s and love my Big Rock v3. I want a Mojave EXB. Maybe after the holiday season.
Cool review guys I’ll stay with my outcast exb 8s it’s a tank and takes crazy hard landings and bashing sessions :) Just wondering did your stock servo give out after a couple of runs I’ve seen on videos the stock servo or the esc or drivetrain give out kind of soon just wondering if that’s true!!!
I also heard the xmaxx esc is weak and fails prematurely. I've had my outcast 6s for three years and still haven't broke anything. Suck on that Traxxas.
Out of the box Xmaxx 8s is more durable than the K8S for sure. After I've modified my Outcast 8s with EXB parts and M2C stuff it gets close, and it does take a beating well. Even 30ft jumps are fine. But If I land wrong, mostly the Xmaxx will drive away before the Outcast 8s. I did have to beef up my X-Maxx too because I run 1/5 electronics on mine. Great comparison! Get yourself some EXB Outcast 8s shocks. Way stronger and bigger shock rod ends 💪👍
Outcast all day.. the xmaxx is way to bouncy and it's looks to much on a toy. But sure it's the most durable truck. But both trucks are badass and you get a smile from both of them.
Did you double check the droop setting screws on the Outcast and make sure it didn’t just have too much droop and pull the shock apart? I have a 8S XMAXX and a 6S Outcast which so far I like my XMAXX more.
did you guys install the high speed in the Xmaxx or is it stock? every arrma i have had had broke. weak shocks and chassis. I have a Maxx and its taken a beating.
thanks for the great review. I love driving rc in rain/water. Makes it so much fun sliding around. I don't have outcast 8s but I would think it would be easier to break compared to exb verison. Now for xmaxx and owning xmaxx for few days. its a beast. its big it feels like a monster truck and drives over anything. I love everything about xmaxx. did i say its big? haha carrying this thing is a workout (i'm start carrying a rope to pull it around haha) and barely fits in my mustang trunk. If i had to pick outcast 8s vs xmaxx for the price, xmaxx hands down! clipless body is just epicness (i hate clips i lose them all the time and the clip mounts break off, its annoying lol) and xmaxx super ez to work on. I would stay away from using xmaxx self righting imo. it tossed my pinon gear right out. haha but if you want to save some money and want smaller 1/8 scales instead. 6s outcast exb!. :D i hope yall get kyosho usa 1 soon! we would love a review! :D I'm look forward to yall rugged remote review. I been wanting to purchase one soon. :)
Love my xmaxx but you do need to change a few parts straightaway, the stock servo on mine lasted two sessions before stripping the gears but traxxas did me a set of metal gears instead of replacing the servo,i'd already upgraded to a 35kg servo and servo adapter by the time it arrived though so never fit it.Rpm hubs and hinge bolts are also a must as the stock bearings are too thin,I also fitted a max6 on the advice of other owners and you do need to upgrade the spur and pinion,I fitted gds hardened gears from Ali express.other than that just strengthen up the body with glass fibre tape and silicone and your good to go😊
Great Durability Test for Both Trucks! They are Tough!! Maxx i like a bit Better! The Maxx takes Jumps and Landings Good! Maxx seems Better out the Box. Great Comparison! I wish both were True 1/5 like the claim to be. The only True 1/5 Truck is the Losi 5t…the 1/5 King so far!
Went with the Xmaxx for the durability and the weight. But Traxxas has to do something about that steering servo. After only 6 runs and not abusing it in any way it just died. They sent me a new one at no cost, but you have to automatically get the upgraded one it seems. Just not right with how much it costs. Great comparison video….Thanks
Hi guys. Should I get the Kraton 8S or 6S? Still cannot decide. I have enough money for the 8S but it will be the biggest RC apart from my TRX-6. Am I ready for it? Thanks 👍
Get the 6s and use the rest of the money for new shocks/shocks shafts, a new chassis(because they bend like cardboard) and steering components. These will all break after 2-3 decent bash sessions. You'd need nothing for a while with an Xmaxx. This has been proven time and time again.
That's a tough one! If you have the space to store and to run the 1/5 scale then go hard! Otherwise another great choice is the 1/8 scale kraton EXB which is one of my favourites atm! 🍻
@@TheRcKiwis Thank you man, I think I’ve decided on the 6S EXB with 1650 Max6 combo because it’s still pretty big and big enough to handle most terrain and it’s a decent basher. Just in general it’s just the wiser choice for me 👍
Hello! Welcome 😊 That’s such a good question but a very hard one. We like to bash most of our cars to test durability… but one I love the most and always have fun with is…. The traxxas maxx! 😊 -A
Hey joe and Amber. I would like the traxxas as it defo is a better truck. I would go for the widening kit on it for that extra handling. Keep the great content coming
My 14 year old lad owns the outcast 8s and has not broke anything on it the car is fully stock apart from rpm suspension arms But then he don't use it recklessly I posted a quick video of him using it on my channel 😀
You guys are awesome! But what’s your favorite 5th scale basher? Personally mine is my karton 8s. I Iove driving basically a tank That will destroy anything it runs into (including itself lol)
Another great video! I prefer the look of the Outcast, but the durability of the XMax is hard to ignore. I prefer a 6S size car. Are Traxxas RCs more durable across the board or is just with the XMax?
I’d say their 8s and 6s line cars are really good (fucking love my e revo 2.0 things bulletproof) but If you go 3s definitely go arrma, those little 3s cars are beasts compared to traxxas’ smaller cars
I'd say that the Xmaxx is in a league of its own. Traxxas' are more durable across the board once driveshafts, shocks and steering components are upgraded. The Arrma 3s vehicles have a plastic composite chassis instead of metal that the 6 & 8s models use. The metal chassis bend SO easy that I'll never own one.
@@rotten2209 exactly why the revo 2.0 is more durable than the arrma 6s line (especially the Kraton, its arrma equivalent) its also why the arrmas 3s line is so durable. Plastic chassis > heavy, expensive, and bendable aluminum chassis all day.

Love my xmaxx but you do need to change a few parts straightaway, the stock servo on mine lasted two sessions before stripping the gears but traxxas did me a set of metal gears instead of replacing the servo,i'd already upgraded to a 35kg servo and servo adapter by the time it arrived though so never fit it.Rpm hubs and hinge bolts are also a must as the stock bearings are too thin,I also fitted a max6 on the advice of other owners and you do need to upgrade the spur and pinion,I fitted gds hardened gears from Ali express.other than that just strengthen up the body with glass fibre tape and silicone and your good to go😊
Anothet great and nice video Joe & Amber 🙂👌 Cheers! 🍻
Cheers mate! 🍻
Both!
arrma are good in on road such as felony and infraction but traxxas is beast in bashing
great video im still on the fence xmaxx or outcast lol do you think the exb version would be closer to xmaxx durability
You've been sitting on that fence for so long you've developed ass warts
Great comparison. Beautiful smile. 👍
What an amazing video. Just 💯 great.
Thank you so much 😀
I Picked up the XMaxx 8s. Also have a Maxx.
I really do hope you 2 give the CEN Reeper a try one of these days, its be cool to see how you put one through its paces
Can you compare the traxxas e-revo 2.0 with the arrma Notorious 6s blx
E Revo is a completely different animal
Cheers for sharing William! Yeah, the Xmaxx should come with the upgraded servo they have to offer.. We have that in ours now
Agreed. Also trying to understand how the xmaxx isn’t much faster than the arrma, on paper it should be
Can you 🙏 do JLB Cheetah 120A and ARRMA Big Rock V3 🙂✌
We dont have a big rock... but we are looking to do the JLB vs Maxx soon! 😁😉
@@TheRcKiwis That's Great either 🙂👍
hall ever coming back?
👏🏽those were some good jumps thumbs up. The Outkast’s is so heavy hitting the pavement from that high up idk looked like a good landing to me.
Just in general it’s just the wiser choice for me 👍
@@TheRcKiwis I’m loving your channel at the minute by the way I am subbed for around a week now I’m from the UK 👌
@@freddieparrydrums glad to hear your enjoying the content! Excellent choice with the exb and combo, that’s the exact same combo we use! 😁🍻
Great I agree
New to the channel. What would be your favorite basher
Hello! Welcome 😊
That’s such a good question but a very hard one. We like to bash most of our cars to test durability… but one I love the most and always have fun with is…. The traxxas maxx! 😊 -A
Very cool
Great video
You guys are beautiful together
Keep finding the MAGIC
thanks for sharing
wow, nice video!
On the expensive cars, it looks like you can control the cars balance in the air. Is that so? Looks cool
Its all to do with wheel speed and mass of the wheels. It's the gyroscopic effect 😉
Nice job
I feel like the outcast is a lot livelier but overall the durability of the Xmaxx is great and the parts are cheap but that’s just me
That's not just you. Promise. (:
Hey joe and Amber. I would like the traxxas as it defo is a better truck. I would go for the widening kit on it for that extra handling. Keep the great content coming
What are you talking about, the xmaxx isn’t “defo” a better truck and they don’t make a widening kit for it
This was great fun!
Nice video the Xmaxx is still king but the Exb Outcast 8s does seem to be more durable than the regular 8s Outcast 😁
awesome video i had the x-maxx i like the x-maxx better
Just love watching the cars make jumps and spin outs on the smooth wet surface. And yes I own a Xmaxx.
Also, what were you doing in Hong Kong?
Hello! Yay! We are glad you liked the video 😊
We were in Hong Kong for Joes job! (Airline Pilot) 😊🍻
They both are sweet
Great comparison, I don’t own either though.
I miss you guys
Nice guys👍🏾👍🏾
What a Radical show Rc🥝🥝’s absolutely well done🎯💥🎯🤤🤤
Thank you!! 🍻
My 14 year old lad owns the outcast 8s and has not broke anything on it the car is fully stock apart from rpm suspension arms
But then he don't use it recklessly
I posted a quick video of him using it on my channel 😀
I think I’m going with the X Maxx
My birthday is tomorrow and I asked for a Maxx. Pretty sure I'm getting it🥳
Happy early birthday 🎂
@@EdgeOfDarkness86 Thanks!
Happy Birthday!!! That's so exciting!!!
@@TheRcKiwis Thanks y'all 🥳
I think the outcast it's more professional, versatility, faster and handling but the xmaxx it's so much tough!!
You guys are awesome! But what’s your favorite 5th scale basher? Personally mine is my karton 8s. I Iove driving basically a tank That will destroy anything it runs into (including itself lol)
The arrma isnt 1/5 scale Arrma lie! And inflate their number to sell units! Dont be fooled
