Check out the USA dream team's documentary. The part where Stockton can just walk freely in the streets of Barcelona without anyone recognizing him.
I know love it
All-time leader in steals, assists, turnover ratio, and possession control... PERFECT Point Guard ever...
But no Rings It is unfortunate😥
@@agilgemilang8201 the Jazz wasn't deep enough to win
I dont think hes the all time leader in those last 2 categories.
the greatest pure point guard of all time!
magic
Nope Stockton and Nash is Magic's Stats don't add up
Zane CDust
Magic was not pure, he can't shoot a high% from outside but he can post up.
Isiah.
***** Isiah is trash, not a top 10 PG ever.
Guys, John Stockton is #1 for most steals and most assists. He has 600 more steals than the 2nd place Jason Kid, also has close to more than 4,000 assist than the 2nd place Jason Kid. GOOD FUCKING GAME. I honestly don't think anyone will be able to come close in this generation.
Specially since the new generation is all about scoring lmao
He is the reason why I am a Jazz fan. Always will be. Thank you, John Stockton. For me, you are the greatest! :)
very deserving halloffamer. one of the best, no doubt.
Only player to lead two all-time statistical categories. One on the offensive end and one on the defensive. And those records won't be broken in a loooong while, if ever.
It won't
This guy was very underrated.Tough as they come
John Stockton was the first guy to say the word "nigga" and be accepted by the black community.
Lol but it usually came out as "bigger" by accident
My hero. Inspired me to pick up the ball and the courage to continue playing when others doubted me.
me too
John Stockton had the NBA records for most career assists! No one passes his record for most assists and steals!
He was a pure point guard, awesome player and anyone that durable and smart with the basketball will always have place on a basketball team
Fun stat: Stockton averaged 14.7 pts on 57.4% FG in '88. He was the only PG in the top 35 in FG% with at least 10ppg. Next PG on that list? 36th lol THIS season? Tony Parker, 93rd place.
The original Steve Nash, but with defence
Steve Nash is WAY BETTER interms of scoring, but Stockton owned Nash in defense.
heikiu96z GP owns both in defence and scoring.
***** Gary Payton?
Yea, he is one of my favouite and really the best defensive PG ever. But he said he Stockton was the toughest man for him to guard, not even Michael Jordan.
heikiu96z lol. Nash a way better scorer? He scored 1.6 more points than Stockton at his peak and 1.2 more points for overall career.
Timo Lau You are right, i was saying that without a reference and Stockton shot 51% for his career while Nash was 49%. So, Stockton and Nash was at the same level in terms of scoring.
my favourite player of all time
Growing up, in a small town in SD, everyone I played with wanted to be Jordan...including me...but I became friends with a new kid from Utah at my school in 7th grade. He introduced me to Stockton. The only time I got to see Stockton play was on ESPN or after MN finally got another NBA team, we would get tickets and drive 10 hours round trip on a school night. Growing up, I became a better player and my team found a lot more success because of Stockton.
That's really cool man! Today, the leagues elite point guards have success because of their techniques, skills, and freak athleticism. What makes Stockton unique is that he was not the freak, gifted, explosive athlete that a Russell Westbrook, Steph Curry, etc. are. Instead, Stockton relied on fundamentals, grit, court awareness, and making the best decisions during a play to get the ball to wherever gave the Jazz the highest percentage chance of scoring. Selfless play! If that means he needed to shoot it, he would. But more often he would set something up and pass the ball to the guy who was open & had the best chance of scoring (usually Karl Malone.) Skills and athleticism diminish over time, but fundamentals and smart play won't go away. That's why Stockton holds 2 of the most unbreakable record in sports. He only missed 23 games in 19 years (18 games were in one season do to surgery at the very end of his career) it's remarkable his is so durable considering how physical he played!
Whitney Allen Mr.consistent. Too bad he didnt win a ring though
Greatest point guard of all time personally!
Philipos6 lol no
+Obama Bin Laden you dead gtfo
and true
+Obama Bin Laden as far as true/pure point guards go, absolutely! Magic Johnson could be argued but he was also a 6'9" anomaly who somehow played point guard because he was a freak athlete! But, as far as a pure point guard, John Stockton did everything a point guard is supposed to do! Set up/lead plays, always aware of wear everyone was, great defender, great shooter, could consistently hit the biggest shots at the most important moments, all-time assist leader by a HUGE margin, all-time steals leader by a HUGE margin (neither record is likely to ever be touched) he has 5 of the top 6 assists seasons in NBA history, (The other belongs to Isaiah Thomas) 10x All-Star, 2 Olympic gold medals, and MANY more accomplishments too long to list! So it can certainly be argued that Stocktons the greatest point guard of all time. Magic has the rings, Stockton has the records, so just it depends on how you look at it.

0 dislikes.. I like that. Respect greatness
Damn, I'm trying so hard to break his steal record without 6 fouls in 2K.
The Steve Nash of the 80s, what a fucking legend. Just proves you don't need a ring to be a legend.
Class act and the best point guard ever.
This guy is so underrated
22 missed games in 19 seasons. Absolutely insane.
Not the best point guard, but the most all around perfect one. Could shoot, handle the ball, make amazing passes, drive to the rim if he had to, and he was an amazing defender. All time leader in TWO of the five main stats categories...
I enjoyed watching this. :)
How I used to hate his guts! Truly one of the best to lace them up.
My idol.
Watching Stockton and Malone dominate... What memories!
And so goes on the Stockton or Magic debate. If you’re a high school coach? And you want your starting PG to study and emulate someone? Stockton, all day. He’s in my starting 5 at PG.
he's still underrated
If only MJ wasn't there he would have so many rings.
2
He would have atleast 2 him and Malone
Andrew Chu you mean if David Stern wasn't there, Jordan started winning in his 7th Season.
ONE OF THEM
Legend
Magic Johnson is the greatest player to ever play the Point Guard position, but as far as being a pure Point Guard, there was and never will be anyone better than John Stockton
and some dofus on the other video said this guy cant hangout with the new PG's... namely westbrook, rose, etc.. this makes me laugh. they think stockton is a soft player.
jjays otag Westbrooke has too much 'tude that keeps him from being a legend like Stockton.
Stockton GOAT PG SHOULD HAVE WON A RING
the real life kuroko, Crazy Passes , No one knew where was.
MY TOP 5 FAVORITE POINT GUARDS
You know what's beautiful about basketball??? 3:07 zero racism and reconciliation of black and white, thats the charm of this sport.
"Stockton mother fucker, Stockton" -Nick Diaz
The Bob Cousy of the 80's and 90's
Simply the greatest PG of all time
Cousy was great in his day, but Stock leaves him in the dirt. And I respect the hell out of past greats (Baylor, West, Russell, Havlicek). But Cousy was getting left behind by West, Robertson, Greer and Wilkens before he retired. Stock hung in with everyone in his time.
nope, magic is better
what's nathan buckley doing in an nba video?
That moment you realize the Sixers could have had Stockton after drafting Barkley at 5........if that had happened it may have been the Sixers in the finals multiple years....
And others would say he's not a Top 5 pg of all time.
Why in 1984 draft most of team not see him?
I didn't know Pete Carol knew basketball 🤔
Karl Malone is nothing without the one-of-a-kind distributor that Stockton was.
Well, no doubt each made the other that much better. Karl and John helped each others' game. As did Jordan and Pippen. Yes, them as well.
Newer fans: “he doesn’t deserve the hall of fame because he has no rings”

Too bad he had to waste his potential in Utah. One day, I'll buy the Jazz just to bring them a championship and give Stockton my ring.
He should of went to a Championship team.
Nah, he gutted it out. Unlike Lebron and KD. He earned whatever he got . And was fine with it. I honestly believe, even today, he would have done it the same way.
Players back then have that tough mentality and competitiveness. Rather than teaming up with superteams to win easy rings they rather stay in their team, try to prove who's the best, and that's what makes them great. Players these days worried about rings too much, and only chase the easy way so they jump to other superteam. KD is a perfect example.

"John Stockton sucks...Rondo, Rose, and Chris Paul are better"
Might as well go ahead and say it on behalf of all the 13 year olds on the internet armed with a keyboard.
Yep John Stockton sure did suck alright he sucked so bad that in a 19 year career he only missed 22 games, and 17 out of those 19 seasons he played in all 82 games plus the playoffs! he sucks so bad that he ranks #1 all time in steals and assists having 3,715 more assists than the next closet guy and 581 more steals than next guy which happens to be Jason Kidd. Yep Stockton really sucked that's why he was a 10 time all star co-MVP of the '93 game, 2 time gold medalist in the olympics so what if he didn't win a ring there are a lot of great players that didn't win rings just because they didn't win championships doesn't mean you discount there greatness John Stockton is the best pure point guard to ever play the game! The guy was a work horse and laid everything out there on the floor every night he was the ultimate floor general and to say he that he "sucks" your just an ignorant moron that know nothing about the game!
Rose and Rondo..lol...
@@lancechild595 *you're lmao

John Stockton
Michael Jordan

Hakeem Olajuwon
grant hill when he was younger was almost better than pip and this is coming from a bulls fan
+Matt D'Angelo Grant Hill was an All-Star and a beast in his day.
Matt D'Angelo grant hill would be a better fit with the team above
17 Westbrook fans
Between hawked and Stockton I don't think nba can be any whiter than the Utah Jazz
He compiled untouchable stats and ridiculous wins, but he also was one of the dirtiest players in the league 😄
уберите эти рожи из ролика! кроме томаса, конечно..
Chris Paul will maybe second but will never pass stockton
he would get killed in todays nba. he would be undersized and too slow
Armando Broncas Stupid
Rondo is better
no.
You are racist, yes, racist toward White people.
Wait, a minute, did i really said that? It didn't sounds right.
You must be joking, right?
Agreed. John Suckton is a flopping bitch with 0 rings
ZZZZZZ rondo is a joke.
Bob Cousy was the first great PG. Jason Kidd was the best PG. John was overrated, BORING with NO personality what so ever. He had no flava. I spoke to none of the great PGs from the 90s era{I got the FEELING that Black people were not in his circle outside of Basketball}}. I wish Jason Kidd would've destroy that assist record and erase John from the history book. The same goes for Jerry Rice. I wish Michael Irvin would've erase Rice records off the books. 10years from now John S WILL BE FORGOTTING and we will never hear his name again. ONLY JASON KIDD!!!! THE BEST EVER!!!!. I'm so glad John NEVER!!!!!!! won a ring....THANKS MICHAL JORDAN!!!!!!!!
John Stockton is lame
If by lame you mean kicks ass then you are right!
I'm sorry I'm just trying to figure out where that joke in that one episode of fresh off boat came from
So Eddie, the main character buys reebok pumps and then gets news that jhon Stockton wore rebook pumps and then Eddie throws them away
I'm just wondering if it was a joke i am out of the loop on
Life if it's A joke on jhon stockton's terrible promotion of the pumps
+Gilda the Griffon stfu dickwad
Rondo and Nash are better. Nash has more MVPs and Rondo is 1/2 in the finals compared to Sucktons 0-2
Nash has more MVPs because he wasn't playing in the league at the same time as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, or Charles Barkley. Go embarrass yourself somewhere else millennial moron,
Noah Hewitt Or The Bad Boy Pistons, Dominique Wilkins, David Robinsin, Clyde Drexler or Hakeem the Dream.
itzjuzz he deserved at least one of them, 20+ points per game while in the 50-40-90 club while leading the league in assists. in addition to leading an in many ways lacking team to the playoffs. whats more, he did this as a guard, making him incredibly efficient for the pg position...
no point guard today can do that, or if they can, they haven't. Way better than Rose's lone MVP season.
You are a dumb ass. I'm a young kid and after watching one movie of the older NBA I was hooked I love how Ronda not even always making the all star game or not even making the playoffs every year is better than John Stockton who made the playoffs every year is his career and made it to the finals. Now Nash earned one of Rhodes MVPs but not both, neither have rings but I fell Stockton is just a little bit better than Nash in every category in my opinion.
God you're an idiot, Stockton is the second best pg of all time. (Magics first)
