- 2+ years after the original upload of this video, RUclips decided it would be blocked everywhere because "Simply the Best" played in the arena as Stockton walked off the court. Because the video had gotten "too many views," RUclips wouldn't let me crop the end of the video or replace the audio. This is why there is now this "Copy of John Stockton Retirement Ceremony" video.

Coming from a Chicago native and hardcore Bulls fan, I have to say that John Stockton doesn't get the credit he deserves. He's one of the top point guards to play the game. I didn't like you in the mid 90's, but much respect. God bless :)
Stockton may be the most ordinary Superstar in sports history.
Chris Webber telling how he pulled up in a minivan. Took out the kids and brought them into the arena. And the proceeded to whop their ass.
From a die hard Celtics fan Who possibly can dislike this?
I might name my son Stockton
One of the most humble athletes ever. No flash, no bling bling, just a simple, good guy. Hard to find such class act these days. Reminds me of Tim Duncan.
Dirk Nowitzki
baria87 I agree. Dirk, Tim and John. Such good guys just playing the game they love.
one of the best point guard that ever play the game yet humble in every way. from the way he dress to the way he talk.
"I Haven't even changed the length of my shorts" What a legend
This dude is an absolute legend in all aspects. Yes he and the Jazz lost to the Bulls twice but they had heart and he’s a big reason why they went to two NBA Finals. This guy is the perfect example of how a point guard should play- the lethal pick and roll. This guy was as simple as a class act, perfect role model.
John Stockton & Karl Malone - two of the best duos in sports history!
it is one duo, but I got your point
When I think of dual those two come to.my mind
this guy is so humble, hard to believe he is the all time leader in both steals and assists
'We didn't know if we had signed Stockton from Gonzaga University or Gonzaga from Stockton University'. Frank Layden.
We need more professional athletes like this....examples of hard work, dedication, and being humble and thankful for what the world, their fans and the sport has given them.....not the other way around.
Greatest PG ever
One of the coldest killers in that era and he looks like a life insurance salesman. Johnny Stocks!
People saying chemistry doesn't matter should look at Malone and Stockton. Still best friends to this day.
Miss these guys!❤
John Stockton was the best
It was an honor to live in SLC, Utah and watch these legends play. I watched as they broke Franchise records, Conference records and NBA records, from home and occasionally live from The Salt Palace, and eventually The Delta Center. My first live game in The Salt Palace at the age of 11, surrounded by dedicated, diehard Jazz fans and feel that energy, was absolutely transformative. I was hooked instantly and watched or listened to every game I could afterwards. This team was a huge part of my childhood, and they will forever be my team 🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
The best pure PG in history. Magic was a better player in general but Stockton is the definition of a PG.
John Stockton shorts are making a comeback with chubbies shorts
Jerry Sloan looked ok here,
sad to see him being unwell these days
Jon.o He was diagnosed with Parkinson's and dementia in 2016 - he looked okay at the Jazz 20 year reunion in 2017
RIP
greatest point guard in the NBA history. Truth. not even a Jazz fan haha
Stockton gets an entire evening for this, but Malone gets his ceremony during halftime of a regular season game. Go figure.
What are you insinuating ? Its racist ?
i miss the original, i was looking for it and i couldn't find it now I know why.
who dislikes this seriously
I root for jazz in 90 because of great tandem Stockton and Malone and legendary couch Sloan,no disrespect to Centers Greg Ostertag,Foster but I wish they had quality center position they would win at least one final against Jordan bulls that is was Stock Malone and Sloan missing everything else they accomplished,NBA never same with out these guys
Good man
If the nba is eternal than john stocktons assist record is already broken
Obrigado John e Karl, sou Jazz por conta de vocês.
Who else got a retirement ovation like that? Wilt? Walt? Nique? Micheal? Dirk? Nope... None
EVEN MY HERO, KARL MALONE, CAN'T TOUCH
"JOHN STOCKTON L!!!!!!"
He missed 22 games in 19 seasons. That should be some kind of record along with assists and steals.
Best power forward until everyone realized Duncan was.
freepotatoez he was point guard
Malone > Duncan
I'd take Charles Barkley any day over Karl Malone
Nathan c Barkley was a Small Forward .. I think. But Duncan better than Malone. In my honest Opinion
@@LeesoP Barkley played PF he was just undersized, but it didn't matter much like Rodman you know? I agree that Duncan is better than Malone. I'd take Hakeem who actually played the 4 and 5 over Duncan any day.
Larry H. Miller does not look so good in this video. He smiles a few times, but he mostly has this glum sort of look on his face.
That was just him. He never smiled
*Greatest Point Guard ever????*
*I think folks have forgot about guys named Magic Johnson, Jerry West, Isiah Thomas, Tony Parker, Allen Iverson, and Jason Kidd!!!!*
Do they hold the nba all time steals and assists records? 😂
