I have a feeling Michael CAN run he just chooses not to whenever people are watching him or when he's chasing people but when nobody sees him that's when he runs to get to people faster while being hidden. And he does it on purpose to keep the illusion of him being only a walker
Love how they captured 1978 in a bottle with the set design, the cinematography and lighting to go with Carpenter's superb and scary score. The attention to detail is so perfect and I love how they integrated that small detail from the original when sheriff Brackett said, "all they took was a Halloween mask, a rope and a couple of knives". Michael likely used the rope to hang the one body in the closet when Laurie finds it and perhaps used it to drag his sister's tombstone up into the bedroom.

Dude I love how even the camera quality makes you feel like your watching the classic 1978 film and not just using the high camera quality we have now, it really makes me feel like I’m in the 70’s
It’s a homage to the original film’s flashback, where Michael is in a clown outfit and his parents are surrounding him while he holds a knife. The camera pans in the same way, and Michael is in the exact position where he was in the original flashback.
People hate on this movie because it wasn't another Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) vs. Michael Myers which we've seen couple times before. Halloween Kills moved to a different direction where we see that Laurie Strode took a back seat and she isn't the only one affected by Michael Myers, the whole town were also affected by him to the point where they went crazy chasing an innocent mental patient assuming he was Michael Myers.
Yeah. Everyone ethier wants Laurie or busta rhymes to kick the dog teeth out of Micheal. I enjoyed the film and thought it was better than those other past movies that all melt into the same pot.
No, people RIGHTFULLY hate on this movie because the writing and dialogue SUCKS! There's not creativity and originality with modern day writers. I'm now DEFINITELY convinced this is true by listening to the train wreck they did on the horror video game "The Quarry." The dialogue LIKE HK is completely cliched and so cringey you'd think a foreign 6yo wrote it. It's like someone from another country's interpretation of how Americans speak to each other rather than how we actually communicate with one another. And all that, "EVIL DIES TONIGHT" chants was just embarrassing. THAT'S why rations people hate on this movie. I personally didn't have to see a Michael vs Laurie. Seen it before. We'll see it again.
@@wadewilson8011 Okay...why be so intense about it? If the dialogue is the only complain and the writing (let's be honest all the halloween movies are the same with different characters here or there with different kills) then maybe the series isn't for you. Like all classic horror movies, even ones today, there's flaws in the movie but people still enjoy them. You don't have to be so intense in your hatred. There's other movies that are "subjective worst" than this movie but you're acting like it's the next "The Room".
For me I think a good way to escape Michael grabbing you is to always try to remove his mask, everytime it’s nearly taken off, he lets go of whoever he has a hold of It worked for Laurie and Lindsey
even thought fans hated this film i loved it this scene right here really is the highlight of the film and shows that 1978 this flashback scene they killed it 7:46 i love that little homage to where Michael Myers is standing outside and we all know that scene is when michael myers was a child that killed his sister on halloween night 1963!
In the scene during the time 5:19 you can see a piece of the window broken and if you watch the original dr. Loomis was in the Myers house looking out the window and whatever the thing was it fell and shattered window his directors put so much detail on this movie and I'm very proud of them Bravo
@@ivoryice5545 well there you go. John Carpenter (the same guy who created the original Halloween) remade a movie called The Thing in 1982. It was a remake of a 1951 movie called "The Thing From Another World." About and Alien crash landing on Earth and killing people. In 2011 there was a prequel made about events that happened BEFORE the events from the 1982 movie. There's a scene in the original '82 version where they find an axe stuck in a wall. In the 2011 prequel, they show you HOW the axe got there in the first place. Consider the entire 2011 movie a flashback to events that happened before the original '82 movie. So yeah, I wasn't too surprised that they paid attention to details in this movie. At least to subtle things like that broken window, and what caused it.
Whether you hated this film or not you can’t deny this flashback was very well done. Feels just like the original honestly. Love the cinematography, the acting is questionable sometimes tho lol
It really felt like a movie shot in the 70s with better film texture quality but still had that kinda roll-film based filming filter over it. Also the camera angles and shots the close ups when zooming in on characters truly felt like it was set in the 70s along with the cars and officer revolver horror trope. I always noticed in a lot of horror movies the officers seem to always carry revolvers guess to have the you’re out of ammo impending doom stereotype .
A really awesome little detail that I noticed: In the original movie, Sheriff Brackett mentions that, along with the mask and knifes, Michael also stole some rope from the hardware store. Presumably due to an oversight, it isn’t seen or used at all in the film. But as we see in Halloween Kills, Michael attacks and tries to strangle Hawkins’ parents with the rope he stole in the ‘78 film!
Good call on the rope but I think he used some of the rope in the 1978 first film to tie his sisters head stone to the bed. That's what I always thought he did with the rope.
This was my favorite part of the entire movie. The flashback of 1978, showing what happened to Michael when he disappeared at the end of the first movie and my God how perfect Loomis looked. You would think it was just archive of Loomis, but it was Tom Kane Jr. from the makeup department that was Loomis and sounded just like him. They did a fantastic job with this entire scene. They really made it feel like it was '78 again
@@RosesareAllie I agree, I would’ve loved to see a complete different version of the original sequel to see how he ended back up in the mental hospital and have it be a whole movie
Micheal was brutal in this movie. Brutal. Made the movie more enjoyable. Although 2018 had slower and more suspenseful kills, halloween kills is brutal and to the point.
I'm Glad I wasn't the only one who really enjoyed this. I was geeking out over the flashbacks. Especially as the camera pans out and Michael just stands there ready to wait more years to kill again. So damn good. I pretend this is the ending to the Halloween trilogy. It feels right ya know? Michael can't be stopped no matter how much damage he takes he just keeps going then goes dormant
This is one of my favorite sequences in the film. The look and feel is incredible. I love how soft the image is. They captured the 78 look so well! And the practical makeup on Loomis amazing!
Absolutely superb what they were able to capture with these flashback scenes. All from the production design and the makeup on the actor playing Dr. Loomis. All top notch.
These flashbacks were absolutely incredible! Loomis was spot on. And Airon Armstrong who played Michael in the flash backs had the movements and the feel of michael to a damn tee! Would love to see Airon play michael again
They did an AMAZING job, with this flashback. 9 out of 10 times, something like this never works. The way Michael moved faster as a younger man, and the actor that did Loomis, was spot on 💯
This was such a creative choice to include in this series. It was my favorite part from kills and I kinda wish we had or seen more from that night. They created the same look and feel of the late 70s really well and the same dark moody night this all went down 🖤🎃
this scene makes me want a whole new franchise using this vintage but modern feeling quality. so 🔥🔥🔥 mask 🔥 how they portrayed distant shots of michael’s nonchalant posture walking when being shot at 🔥🔥🔥 this seen made him feel cool and cold as ice🥶🥶🥶
Like I have read in the comments I think they nailed the 78 feeling in this scene. This was done truly well. Even the actor playing Loomis was pretty spot on. Favorite part is when Michael is standing dormant on his front lawn with Loomis watching him in the background.
Ever since I've seen this I really think that they should make an entire movie in this '70s look and feel this was nothing short of amazing it felt genuine and authentic I loved it
@@wadewilson8011 Yep your right. JJC was just as good! 👍I had a feeling it wasn't JJC in the suit for the flashback scenes. Agreed, thank goodness for imbd so I can give Airon the credit he deserves playing the shape.
When I first saw this in theaters and the flashback started I got goosebumps, the attention to detail was astounding. Felt like I was watching unused footage from the original
I just wish he said the line “haddonfield, where nothing exciting ever happens” before he sees the foot prints, you get the sting realization music and then boom Michael pounces.
I believe the jump scare is less predictable the way they did the scene when you really think about it. The way you want it...it would almost be like warning the audience that the jump scare is about to happen directly before it happens.. The way they did it, you almost feel at ease because of the dialogue being spoken / scary music stops at the time of the jump scare surprises the audience more imo. Just imo
5:05 Pay close attention to how Officer McCabe’s demeanor changes when he sees the window. He has a moment of realization that it’s the window Michael looked out of, But his eyes suddenly glaze over and he starts walking almost zombie-like toward the window, as if he’s in a trance. Even when he’s talking to himself before Michael’s attack, he seems very distant and disoriented, Kind of Reminiscent of the trance people went into in The Happening, Where they’d start repeating things they’d already said. Which all lends credence to the theory that the window, or whatever is outside of it is playing some kind of role in Michael’s behavior. This last part is probably me looking too deep, but it seems bizarre that McCabe was casually repeating the line he said earlier to himself. Its as if the window, or whatever force is there, mentally stunts the person looking out of it, tethering them to a single moment in their lives, not allowing them to leave it.
Then there's the ending where even arguably get if not the answer than at least a hint of what exactly Michael was staring at... ...you, the audience. It's amazing that this got past so many people's heads considering there are meta hints all over the movie. It's probably the first ending in this franchise that is as eerie for me as the original one is.
The officer was just reflecting and trying to figure out what outside Michael was looking at. But he’s wrong, Michael was only looking at himself and the emptiness within.
Fun fact onto how you can admire how perfect this is, is because the cinematographer, Michael Simmonds asked help from Dean Cundey, the cinematographer from 1978 Halloween for advise on the shots and quality and pace of these scenes
I remember watching this flash back in theatres! And the projector made it all look moonlight. Felt so true and took me back to another time period. Shoutout to cinema projectors
this just goes to show that modern directors can and are able to re create this retro film vibe and I think they should do wayyy more movies with this 1970s feel

It’s much clearer picture but I get what you mean
Its amazing how they nailed the tone of the original vibe. Late 70's just fits halloween.
You can’t tell me that scene with Michael Myers in front of the cops with that music going isn’t the greatest scene in a horror movie ever
It’s a homage to the original film’s flashback, where Michael is in a clown outfit and his parents are surrounding him while he holds a knife. The camera pans in the same way, and Michael is in the exact position where he was in the original flashback.
Meow! Great observation
Mr. Tavoli wasn't innocent though. According to the novel he murdered his parents, but then again they did abuse him.
@@wadewilson8011
Okay...why be so intense about it? If the dialogue is the only complain and the writing (let's be honest all the halloween movies are the same with different characters here or there with different kills) then maybe the series isn't for you. Like all classic horror movies, even ones today, there's flaws in the movie but people still enjoy them. You don't have to be so intense in your hatred. There's other movies that are "subjective worst" than this movie but you're acting like it's the next "The Room".
I agree and also Laurie is not in the shape to fight
For me I think a good way to escape Michael grabbing you is to always try to remove his mask, everytime it’s nearly taken off, he lets go of whoever he has a hold of
It worked for Laurie and Lindsey
Didn't Lindsey die later?
@@sinfulchickennuggets7093 no I think she's still alive, you must be mistaking her for Karen
@@itsjordan1042 oh, yeah, I don't think it's Karen that dies, but I think it was Tommy's wife if I remember correctly
@@sinfulchickennuggets7093 it’s probably Marion, the one that said say hi to Loomis before realising her gun was empty lmao
@@itsjordan1042 oh, yeah, now I remember, thanks.
even thought fans hated this film i loved it this scene right here really is the highlight of the film and shows that 1978 this flashback scene they killed it 7:46 i love that little homage to where Michael Myers is standing outside and we all know that scene is when michael myers was a child that killed his sister on halloween night 1963!
3:04 that slow piano beat is legendary
In the scene during the time 5:19 you can see a piece of the window broken and if you watch the original dr. Loomis was in the Myers house looking out the window and whatever the thing was it fell and shattered window his directors put so much detail on this movie and I'm very proud of them Bravo
So why does Michael want to stare out the sisters window all the time???
I thinks its becuase he looking at himself in the mirror because he realizes how much of a montser he is but thats just my theory
Like the axe in the wall in The Thing and Thing (2011) movies? Details like that?
@@wadewilson8011 I havent seen that movie yet
Low key HKills is one of the best sequels. Great opening and absolute carnage from beginning to end.
That mask was incredible in the flashback honestly it gave me so much nostalgia
like it better than the original tbh
That shot of the Myers house at 3:17 looks straight out of H1 I love it
Whoever liked this comment, unlike it.
Did I stutter?
A really awesome little detail that I noticed:
In the original movie, Sheriff Brackett mentions that, along with the mask and knifes, Michael also stole some rope from the hardware store.
@@mikesill1898or to string up Bob when he pops up hanging upside down
The rope stolen in the original was clearly used for Bob being strung up. I just rewatched it today and that’s what I thought
Who else didn’t want this sequence to end
Most inept cops ever
👋🏻🙋🏼♀️ wish it showed more of the flashbacks, would of preferred that over us getting Ends.
It’s basically a tribute to 80 slashers. Just pure gore and fun. This franchise spans over 40 years for a reason
Did you watch ends?
@@aldrichthorne7404biggest disappointment in recent history
I'm Glad I wasn't the only one who really enjoyed this. I was geeking out over the flashbacks. Especially as the camera pans out and Michael just stands there ready to wait more years to kill again. So damn good. I pretend this is the ending to the Halloween trilogy. It feels right ya know? Michael can't be stopped no matter how much damage he takes he just keeps going then goes dormant
@@citiLPit was meh imo
Took me by surprise when I saw Loomis, that’s amazing how the man looked exactly like the actor
This is one of my favorite sequences in the film. The look and feel is incredible. I love how soft the image is. They captured the 78 look so well! And the practical makeup on Loomis amazing!
I would totally believe this was the same mask and actor.
Seeing Michael Myers full on sprint is terrifying.
The Glory days of Michael Myers
Absolutely superb what they were able to capture with these flashback scenes. All from the production design and the makeup on the actor playing Dr. Loomis. All top notch.
This scene is better than Halloween Ends
Umm if you say so
@@10knovideoisback19 well he's kinda right because Ends was a piece of junk throughout

The way Michael moved faster as a younger man, and the actor that did Loomis, was spot on 💯
I like how the final shot of the flashback is a reference to his first kill, when his parents arrive and everyone just stands there.
the flashback sequence is amazing
I find it wholesome how Hawkings tells his partner that they got Michael to put him at ease before he died❤️
Well, they did. Moments later. But alive.
5:51 you can hear Michael grunt, keep in mind he’s only 21 yrs old here and not the invincible killing machine he would later become
The glory days of Michael Myers. 40 years later he got that raw old man strength.

This was such a creative choice to include in this series. It was my favorite part from kills and I kinda wish we had or seen more from that night. They created the same look and feel of the late 70s really well and the same dark moody night this all went down 🖤🎃
God, I’d like to see entire films shot in this style. It has so much more character than most modern film in a way I don’t even know how to describe.
i love how they added flashbacks! felt like i was watching a 70s horror movie 👌🏽
Same they should make just like this but with the original actors
Why does this look so much better than the rest of the movie? I mean the shadows are almost pitch black and it just adds more suspense.
It’s meant to emulate the original movie in its score and cinematography style
This scene moved to tears🥺
Thanks for recreating HALLOWEEN 1978🎃
this scene makes me want a whole new franchise using this vintage but modern feeling quality. so 🔥🔥🔥 mask 🔥 how they portrayed distant shots of michael’s nonchalant posture walking when being shot at 🔥🔥🔥 this seen made him feel cool and cold as ice🥶🥶🥶
These scenes were amazing. Just love how they caught the essence and feel of the original movie.
These throwback scenes are incredible
6:16 the way Michael just casually walked off from there and no bullet touched him😅
Like I have read in the comments I think they nailed the 78 feeling in this scene. This was done truly well. Even the actor playing Loomis was pretty spot on. Favorite part is when Michael is standing dormant on his front lawn with Loomis watching him in the background.
Haha. I love how Michael just casually drops the dying cop and starts walking away like *Nothing* even happened.
Me to!😂
you can see his damaged eye when he's shined with the flashlight during the confrontation at the Myers' house. so damn cool.
Ever since I've seen this I really think that they should make an entire movie in this '70s look and feel this was nothing short of amazing it felt genuine and authentic I loved it

I agree that makes more sense. Here it's like he noticed the footprints but isn't really phased which he should be.
Just imo

Pay close attention to how Officer McCabe’s demeanor changes when he sees the window.
He has a moment of realization that it’s the window Michael looked out of,
But his eyes suddenly glaze over and he starts walking almost zombie-like toward the window, as if he’s in a trance.
Even when he’s talking to himself before Michael’s attack, he seems very distant and disoriented,
Kind of Reminiscent of the trance people went into in The Happening,
Where they’d start repeating things they’d already said.
True.
This would have been a cool idea to explore in Halloween Ends but alas they decided not to do that and we just got a less than mediocre movie :(
The officer was just reflecting and trying to figure out what outside Michael was looking at. But he’s wrong, Michael was only looking at himself and the emptiness within.

This movie was awesome. It plays perfect into the second act in being the gory movie of the trio
Really feels like we're in 1978 I love this scene so much:)
Seems like Michael is almost disdainful towards Hawkins. Every time he tells him to stop he's just like 'Whatever nerd' and ignores him.
Fun fact onto how you can admire how perfect this is, is because the cinematographer, Michael Simmonds asked help from Dean Cundey, the cinematographer from 1978 Halloween for advise on the shots and quality and pace of these scenes
6:17 only Michael can walk away nonchalantly AF and have every bullet miss him. How did he get down these stairs that fast?
