    If you are poor and wanting to be rich, it is like being unhappy and wanting to be happy. The first piece of homework is accepting that you are only one responsible for your wealth/happiness and you are the only one with the authority to affect this. It's up to you - decide what you want and then do something to affect a positive change, every day. Maybe you'll have days where nothing happens but, after some days, things improve. Keep adding days and the improvements increase. Great video you've made here - content, delivery and production.

    It's infinitely easier to dance on a tightrope if you have a safety net below. If poor people appear risk averse that has much to do with this concept. Without the security of that safety net, consequences are completely devastating.

    • @MDC_1985
      @MDC_1985 Год назад +81

      This is an example of poor person thinking.
      Having a safety net gives the option of failing without any real consequences. You see that safety net as a positive thing, it’s not. People who become wealthy from nothing do so because for them, failure is not an option. They treat every challenge as something they have no choice but to overcome at any cost. How hard do you focus when you know you can fall and still be Ok, compared to knowing that it’s all over if you make one mis-step, if you lose focus for even a second…..
      You are proving the point that it’s a poor mentality that keeps most poor people poor. Those who will ultimately stay poor are the ones who will see their lack of a safety net as an excuse not to try.
      Those who will succeed see their lack of a safety net not as an excuse not to try, but as a reason to work harder to be laser focused and thoroughly prepared because they know that the consequences of failure leave them only one choice: succeed at all cost.

    • @davidkottman3440
      @davidkottman3440 Год назад +20

      Risk averse attitude isn't always bad, if recognized and managed. Use it to make best choices, rather than as a reason to avoid attempting anything.

    • @rayzerot
      @rayzerot Год назад +37

      @@MDC_1985MDC it's fun to play backseat driver in someone else's life but stop. A person would be an irresponsible and negligent twat to play on a tightrope without a safety net when they have a family depending on them. Only an A-hole would make gambles that might involve their kids going hungry. A safety net that allows mistakes is a huge advantage for those that have it. Things don't always work out and people can lose their homes, cars, and kids if they are too risk tolerant. It's not a poor person thing, it's a responsible human thing

    • @MDC_1985
      @MDC_1985 Год назад

      @@rayzerot more excuses not to do something rather than finding ways to overcome. Family is a perfect excuse too, now you can blame your fear and your total financial dependence on the idea that you are making a noble sacrifice for them……. Ohh and you get to teach them to be sheep, who can’t think for themselves and see everyone who does succeed as, wait how did you’d put it…”a-holes” and “negligent twats”…. Yes because you are clearly maintaining your moral high ground by never believing yourself equal to any challenge that requires determination or independent thought. What an example that must be… I’m sure your children’s children will be thankful for the legacy you’ve created for them.

      @@MDC_1985What bull shit. I retired from working at Social Services. Stuff HAPPENS. I had a guy who was comfortably wealthy, lovely high-priced home, really excellent job. His wife contracted a very rare, insidious disease, that used up the lifetime limit on their VERY good health insurance. Treatments then had to come out of his pocket. There were ways I could advise him so his wife got her treatment & wouldn’t die, but in no way was he on any kind of ‘get rich’ track anymore.
      These types of books & videos sell a lie. With the current system in the US (especially health care) it’s Russian roulette at best. Some of the advice is fine if you are just talking quality of life, making sure you don’t end up on the streets etc, but these suggestions are in NO WAY guaranteed to make anyone rich.

    On the time spent point; in many circumstances, getting a job done in a good timeframe (not rushed, but no dithering) or making a decision quickly, is more important than getting it perfect. A mistake can be remedied as long as youve left contingency time, and you learn from the mistake. Plus finishing the task gives time to evaluate, whereas if you take ages aiming for perfection, you might not leave enough time to check you actually got it right. Sometimes you get tunnel visioned aiming for perfection

    I agree. Everything is in the mindset. Also, if you are lazy, you will never get where you desire to be. Without hard work there will be no result. Where there is a will, there is always a way. My favourite quote and the one I live by is from Nike: Just do it. Sometimes I modify it and say: Don't think about it, just fucking do it. And I am not talking about cheating, shopping beyond your means, etc. I mean it towards reaching POSITIVE goals of any kind.

      OK….found #14 to also be very true! Wealth and net worth are far more important than income. It’s not how much you make, it’s what you save and invest that build the most millionaires.

    This is called reverse causality:
    The mindset doesn't get people rich or poor.
    People adopt a mindset based on their experiences as a rich or poor person, because humans are for a big part product of their experiences.

    I truly love your video and agree with a lot of the true knowledge that you’re sharing with us from that book and I wish that you add in it another fact of (CONSEQUNCES) not everything in poor man’s life is (FEAR, DOUBT AND WORRY). Rich person can handle the lost simply because he or she has enough to back him or her up in a lost situation, but a Poor person will lose everything as consequences of his or her failure, so fear, doubt and worries are a very important guidance to survive in this life but they must start some ware with precaution if they want to be rich sometimes in this life.

      Every single investment that pays big is also very risky. Only wealthy people have the cushion to survive that risk, so they also get the biggest payoffs in investment. The bad investments are a mere speed bump and if they have positioned themselves correctly they can possibly write off those losses anyway. (and only rich people can do that, too).

      @aaakhmed 11 месяцев назад +1

      Rich people go big or go home, they dont worry about how much they have in their bank. They more money they have the more risk they take, but they bet 100% of they money not portion. Just like a gamble. Life is a gamble, but you have to play it smart not blindly and hoping it would work.

    • @l.5832
      @l.5832 11 месяцев назад +7

      @@aaakhmed Actually, rich people don't gamble their OWN money. They are masters at getting investors and backers. Wealthy people don't put their own money at risk. They put YOUR money at risk.

    This is a great video, thankful that you presented to us. The main 2 ideas I take from it are 1) how to split money between investment/education/etc (around minute16) and 2) what gets tracked will be better, so I will set and monitor more KPI in my business

    Love this but one note: 4th one, there are Risk Managers and Advisors who get paid A LOT of money to advise on challenges, obstacles and risks. Not to advise to stop project or idea, but to go forward with eyes wide open and build in actions to mitigate risks. That’s not a poor people mentality. That’s seeking wise counsel. I’m not totally disagreeing; just pointing that out.

    Generally good advice, but your statement (9:40) that you don't like taking public transport rather smacks of snobbery. I prefer it to the taxi because the money I save can be spent on the things I most enjoy - cider and holidays.
