    You absolutely have to buy used with space Marines. The market is flooded with 40 years of Marines from discount boxes.

      I definitely recommend used or discounted marines. Unfortunately that breaks one of the rules of my building as I cannot guarantee someone else's ebay/facebook marketplace/etsy price.

    Definitely would love to see this done for the Non Codex Chapters, too, because it will be very interesting to see which Divergent ends up being the most cost-effective (coming from a Ultramar player lol)

    Great video and nice lists! Gave me some insight on how to switch up my marines without having to buy too much extra.
    The Ironstorm list is pretty close to what I'm running atm, love the Guilliman (just got a Lt. with combi weapon over the 3rd techmarine and using 2x3 Inceptors instead of the Hellblasters). I do think you listed 1x5 Infiltrators too many, depending on when you made the video ofcourse, as per current points the list is 90points over :)

    No mention of the age of darkness box? According to gw articles doing counts as for hh units as 40k counterparts is perfectly legal so it's fantastic points per dollar

    • @FlourEater
      @FlourEater 6 месяцев назад

      agreed, that box is amazing (bought two for my HH army), all the minis are usable in 40k and you can sell the rulebook and templates for some cashback.

    • @darnokx9277
      @darnokx9277 6 месяцев назад

      The AoD box is excellent value for 40K as long as you are fine with selling the Spartan and Contemptor (or happy with Legends rules), as well as assuming you are looking for lots of Tacticals without special or heavy weapons. You also have no use for the rulebook. Selling those "unwanted" components and buying additional special/heavy weapons might still end up as a good deal, but it is also a lot of work for somebody just starting the game. Unless you fell in love with the HH aesthetics (and why not go for HH instead?) I would not advise a newbie to go down this path.

      Batle company is not better? you don't need to sell stuff (dorito with biger base is pretty much balistus, and land rider is smaller but close enaugh size wise to use as proxy), and you don't need to be sad abaut incredibly small terminators

    I'm almost done building your Tyranid unyielding swarm list! I have been waiting for this video since I saw the Tyranid video. If I picked up one or more of the Leviathan boxes and have Ballistus Dreadnoughts, do those work well in the loui of Primaris Redemtor Dreadnoughts?

    • @Speeds_Gaming_Corner
      @Speeds_Gaming_Corner  6 месяцев назад

      They fill a fairly different rule. Redemptor seats are durable shooting platforms where balistus are cheap platforms. Two balistus can somewhat replace the role

    Now, I got the Ultimate Starter Kit so I dunno if they had removed some stuff from this one compared to other starter kits, but I just wanna throw out that there doesn't seem to be any Relic Power Fists, Cyclone Missile Launchers or Chain Fists with the starter kits. Unless I have somehow missed something.

    1x5 Infernus Marines, those are just one set of five guys with flamethrowers. 2x5 Scout Squad w/ Heavy Bolter, 4x Shotgun are 8 dudes with shotguns and 2 dudes with heavy bolters. I don't follow 1x5 Terminators w/ 5x chain fist, 1x Cyclone Missile Launcher. It's a 5 model squad right, so 4 of them have Chain Fists but one has both a Chain Fist and a Cyclone Missile Launcher? I'm totally new to this game and have no frame of reference.

    • @Speeds_Gaming_Corner
      @Speeds_Gaming_Corner  4 месяца назад +1

      Correct on the infernus marines.
      Correct on the scout squads. It is 2 seperate units of 5 guys, each unit having 4 shotguns and 1 heavy bolter. You could just make them all shotguns and be fine though.
      For the terminators, they have access to both ranged and melee weapons at all times. Their default ranged weapon is a storm bolter and only 1 guy in the unit can have a different ranged weapon, so he will have his storm bolter replaced with the Cyclone Missile Launcher in your list building step (hence 1x cyclone missile launcher). All 5 of them have a choice of what melee weapon they want to have equipped whether they want to have a power fist or chain fist. Because all 5 of them have the choice, we give all 5 of them the chain fist option (hence 5x chain fist).
      Its a shorter way of saying the Terminators will have 4x Storm Bolters, 1x Cyclone Missile Launcher, 5x Chain fists that saves space on the screen and can still be fairly easily understood once you get comfortable with the game as units with locked choices don't usually say what they have equipped. Ex: Telling you to run 5x Infernus marines w/ 5x Bolt Pistol, 5x Pyreblasters, 5x Close Combat Weapons feels redundant since that is the forced loadout for every single guy in the unit, so we drop mentioning the weapons.

      @@Speeds_Gaming_Corner Also why are we getting a proxy for Uriel Ventris when he and a Primaris Captain are the same price?

    • @Speeds_Gaming_Corner
      @Speeds_Gaming_Corner  4 месяца назад +1

      @keithbonham2992 because the model for uriel ventris is a limited edition model amd I don't include limited/exclusive releases as they are the hardest things to buy at any given date past their release.
      Example: the best way to start thousand sons is the court of the crimson king box that came out 2 winters ago. But that's not realistically something people can buy now

  • @FlourEater

    obviously by far the easiest faction to collect. I mean I would rather french kiss a plaguebearer before touching imperial model (death to the false emperor!) and yet.. trough the years and various deals, I have at home easily about 3k pts of marines on sprues. Most of the guys I know in this hobby have small-ish armies of Space Marines regardless of what they actually play.

  • @titreynium8115
    @titreynium8115 5 месяцев назад

    I'm sorry for the question if it's obvious or doesn't make sense, but I'm new and wanting to get into space marines and all of their separate armies. Are these lists playable with any space marine loyalist army? For example, could I use the gladius task force just as successfully with black templars and blood angels, or are they designed more for specific armies?

    • @Speeds_Gaming_Corner
      @Speeds_Gaming_Corner  5 месяцев назад +1

      You could take the second list and play it anything you wanted as it has 0 named characters in it. The first and third lists have named character in them so you couldn't take them into blood angels, death watch, dark angels, etc.
      Named space marines have to stay in in their own detachment OR can use any of the generic space marines detachments.
      Ex: blood angels named characters can go into Gladius, ironstorm, vanguard, etc. Blood angels named characters cannot go into the dark angels detachments.
      Codex space marines named characters can go into any codex space marines detachment, but cannot go into divergent chapters like death watch or space wolves.
      If you wanted to play any of these lists as the other detachments you just have to cut roboutte guiliman, Marneus Calgar, and Uriel Ventris

      Had to cut 2 of the 5 detachments out for run time stuff. Looking at data the Vanguard spearhead lists were mostly the same units as the Gladius Detachment for top level lists so I just left them out.

    The Combat Patrols for both Space Marines and Tyranids are straight rip-offs. They MIGHT be considered a reasonable deal if and when 11th edition comes around and the current starter sets are gone, but for the time being you never, ever, under any* circumstances want to buy them over one of the starter sets. Selling a complete newbie one of these CP boxes should be considered a crime.
    Just for perspective: if you are willing to buy online at 20% off, you can get the Starter Set, Librarian and Barbgaunts - meaning you get the contents of BOTH Combat Patrols AND some introductory gaming materials - for STILL LESS than what you pay at MSRP for ONE of the CP boxes. Criminal.
    * ... Only exception I can think of: you are absolutely and 101% set on ONLY wanting one of the two factions and do not want to spend more than the CP price. In any other case it is either cheaper to get the "small" starter set and buy the Librarian and/or Barbgaunts on 'bay, or spend a little more to get the "big" starter and having the full two CP sets PLUS rules PLUS terrain.

    • @Speeds_Gaming_Corner
      @Speeds_Gaming_Corner  6 месяцев назад +1

      My hot take: it's the two worst combat patrols in the game. It's worse than tsons without a leader, it's worse than 30 poxwalkers, it's worse than the new dark angels combat patrol.
