I don't know if you cover Cavs basketball consistently or are involved in the media at all, but according to the person who does the Locked on Cavs RUclips channel Danny Cunningham, also a media member, who gets to ask the team and the coaching staff questions at press conferences among other ways, Atkinson has said that he plans to have Okoro in the starting lineup instead of Dean Wade. In my mind, this makes sense because Wade is our current backup 4/5 because of his big body. Now we're in wait-and-see mode on what Kenny plans to do when Strus returns, but we will see. That'll be an interesting transition on whether he will be on the bench to start off when he comes back or whether Atkinson will put him in the starting lineup
I don't cover the Cavs consistently but yeah Okoro has looked really good starting the past few games. wouldn't be shocked if he locks the starting spot up

Not only a championship contender but a dark horse dyNASTY !!! Plus Tyson Travers Bates JT in development!!! A nice built in youth movement to hit stride while we’re winning and losing role players to free agency
A star in your role powerhouse!!! Kenny arrived and we got a warriors 2.0 organic drafted core young group with a established star and built in youth movement … hopefully we keep ahold of Travers as I’m sure he’ll get calls … a point forward who will get a shot .. too hard a worker and has shown ability once he hits 37% and better consistently on some volume he’s a real problem
Cavs offense will not regress. It will get better. They’re still getting used to the new system and pace and Evan Mobley is still getting used to being an aggressor. This is the beginning stages for where they want to go… oh and one of their best shooters hasn’t even played yet They could win the title this year, but I actually think they’ll be the favorite to win it next year
wouldn't actually be surprised if they somehow get to maintain similar efficiency until the end of the regular season.. and yeah the Cavs are not at their best yet
These content creators might jinx the Cavs potential success, so much hate were coming because of praises that they're receiving. Just let them play, i think.

other teams have been laying the blueprints so it's cool to see cavs hit these early milestones. kerr borrowed from jackson and pop to create his hybrid motion/triangle system. jarrett allen, caris levert, donovan mitchell, and ty jerome all have experience in these types of systems so i imagine it helps being able to learn from your teammate who plays the same position or similar role and i think that's helped everyone else quickly adapt to the new system here. one of the first things that stood out to me about the new system or what kenny might be coaching them on, is whenever they get the ball on the perimeter they take a quick jab step with their non pivot foot and fake like they're going to drive to the basket before they do anything else. it immediately gives them more space for a shot or another pass to keep the ball moving, and a few times it's led to some crazy blow-by's. i didn't see the cavs doing this last year, and last year was huge for motion since we added strus and merrill. it was like the missing piece that these guys needed for some breathing room and time to make a decision with the ball. guess what team i saw doing that first? one of those early pop spurs teams with duncan, parker, and ginobli. a lot of fundamentals have fallen to the wayside in favor of iso and exciting highlight reel stepback logo 3s. cavs are bringing back a strategy that takes way more discipline but creates great ball movement and scoring opportunities. one thing i will add, this team might struggle with turnovers but they're gonna lead the league in pts off turnovers and continue stifling opponents fast breaks. so playing sloppy almost works in their favor still, like that nets game coming off a b2b and 3 in 4. they scored more off cam thomas strips than the entire nets team did off all their turnovers. looking at all the metrics, the misc stats especially like pts in the paint, 2nd pts, etc all paint this team like a darling. like i said, we're hitting all the early milestones. i don't think i'd ever be an nba GM or coach or anything crazy like that but i have gotten really deep into this stuff since covid, as a sort of hobby. a sample size of 10 games is usually enough to predict a team's makeup and identity, barring injuries or off-court issues. celtics have played more games than any team in the league since 2022 and i think the wear and tear will get to them eventually. east is the cavs' to lose and at this point, it would be shocking to look back on if they end up not getting past the 1st or 2nd round. ultimately they should be the #1 seed and get homecourt advantage, anything less and something failed pretty badly.
Emoni Bates is light years from even cracking the roster, let alone the rotation, let alone the starting lineup. Bates will never likely be an impactful NBA player. He’s way too flawed. His shot selection is garbage, his eFG is terrible, and on defense he’s not just bad, he’s an absolute liability. Bates is a project that’ll likely never get finished.
