- Got some heat for y'all today! Full bottom end engine rebuild on this 2014 YZ450F. This video has been holding up the build so now it's the homestretch! I never imagined this bike was going to turn out this crazy when I started so at this point I feel like we have already won and it isn't even done haha.

Having to tear down my 07 WR450F because the engine wouldn't turn over (years of abuse taking it to Nuevo Leon area in Mexico). This gave me a lot of insight on what I am looking into. Thanks.

I would be concerned about the big end bearing on your crank check up and down and side to side play. Connecting rod bearing.

Out of curiosity does the shop maintenance manual have the actual torque specs in it for all of the engine assembly?
The service manual does yes. Not the original owners manual that comes with the bike

Tomatoknuckles will be for daily street use and some ocasional track riding. Or if the guy who wins it is a beast (i doubt) he will stunt it 😂
Did you get new cases? What broke causing the damage to the old cases? Gear tooth?
Most likely the old rod broke on the lower end by the crank. The motor had a new rod and piston and the damage was below the crank
I actually re used the cases. They have been working fine over 25 hrs on it now
Are you planning on following the normal service intervals for the bike? Or stretch them out a bit since you won't be using it for motocross purposes?
Scurry the service intervals will definitely be stretched some. As a supermoto it doesn’t get nearly the abuse a motocross bike gets.

Yes you can buy colored screws or have them anodized. I chose to skip that

sorry but the grease in the bearings dont need to have lube all the time thats what the oil is for you put some grease in their for the first startup ahen the oil is not spread around you dont need it to not desolve.

It is powder coating! Much more durable than regular paint.

The black is cerakote and the blue and yellow are powdercoat.

why would you reuse those cases there chipping inside and broke off? not good cases
Logan Tolley they are still useable for countless hours. The damage was just superficial. If i had the 600 for new cases i would have gotten them. Gotta make it work and im sure it will

Kinda stupid not to replace those bearings, they aren’t even expensive. Just save from something else than from the motor
Topi Metso yeh that is true, but they were all in great condition and will work fine
Problem is they dont come with the rebuild kits and half the time they are back ordered so you get all of the parts you need in a hodge podge order. I see both sides of the coin but a dealer wouldn't replace them either unless they were janky. If its a bike Im keeping long term I may put up with it again. If its a trade or something Im not keeping then Im only replacing whats needed. Add $150 to the bottom end if you replace all of the bearings and seals. I just did it on 3 different bikes and it was a mess waiting on parts.

@@occif2023 i got the point, but most of the oem bearings are from other manufacturers, so you can get your bearings from local stores, at least here in finland. Those repair kits are handy too, but it isn't hard to buy those parts separately. also most of the time whole crank replacement is not necessary, only the rod kit.
@@topimetso8560 Yes you are correct. It is cheaper however here in the US to buy the kit than source the parts. Most of the time the crank could be salvaged also but its easier to replace it if you dont own a press. I just bought one and will try to rebuild it in my next build. Im learning about cost over runs now with these motors. I can sink $1500 into a bike you can only sell for $ $900. But if i'm keeping the bike, Ill replace everything while im inside of motor
