(Timelapse) Beautiful 4-Stroke Engine Rebuild + 1st Start!

- I am beyond stoked with the results of this engine build, considering it was my 1st 4-stroke engine rebuild ever! Only other engine I have built was my 2003 CR250 which was extremely basic compared to this.
This 2014 YZ450f actually had 205 hours on the ecu! (TokyoMods sent me the total hours on the ecu when they remapped it) But it got all new hot rods engine bearings, cometic oil seals and lower gaskets, hot rods crank, new 4th gear, boyesen water pump, wiseco clutch basket, tusk clutch plates, je piston std. comp, kibblewhite stainless steel valves and spring kit, oem top end gaskets, oem spark plug, new cam chain + tensioner, and ecu remap from TokyoMods for supermoto. So yeh, it runs GOOOOD hahah can't wait to finish the break in. AND WATCH TO THE END FOR THE 1ST START!

You are the first person I have seen install the shift drum the easy way. I see people struggling to hold all the stuff and try to put it all in at once. You appear to have great skill. Cool video too! Thanks for sharing.

dude Ive been building bikes for over 20 years (also former jet engine mechanic) and I have to say you did awesome for your first time with a 4 stroke, very clean and thorough, at first I was why isn't he changing the bearings, is it a money thing? and I continued to watch. great job, hats off and I wish you future success
also, constructive advice for any future build that you would strictly use for racing- replace steel bearings with all ceramic bearings, REM Isotropic your transmission gears, highlift longer duration camshaft, oversized valves while opening up your valve seat chamber to at least 70% of your valve head diameter, this should give you a wicked flow. And of course bore and stroke optional, depending on class rules should you race...smiles and have fun with your new recent rebuild :)
Wow I just want to say thanks first of all! I really appreciate the comments and the advice! I don’t build these super motos for strictly racing just for messing around and looking cool haha but I will be doing some more extensive engine work on my next build! Definitely want to get my trans gears coated by trick eng.

OK man this was ao totally freaking awesome! I'm hyping myself up to do an engine rebuild on my 2011 yz450f so this was good information and motivation. A few questions if you ANYONE READING THIS WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP OUT- what specialty tools are absolutely essential? What was that steam looking stuff coming from the engine at the end (I'm assuming its normal since nobody seemed concerned but idk what its from)? What do you wish you would've known earlier/done differently? How difficult is it to time the engine? What was the most difficult part? should I have a ft/lb or an inch/lb torque wrench? removal/installation tips? Any other tips or tricks you would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated. Also what would be the CHEAPEST way to go about rebuilding? (brands, budget websites, full engine kits, etc...)

I did not hone my cylinder because I do not have the tool and just put new piston kit on it. Replaced all the valve seals also. Noticed a thin blue smoke when I rev high the bike after rebuild and after spending 2 hours on it. Im thinking that is because the cylinder was not honed.. Can I still hone the cylider and put it back togher even I've already riden the motor after few hours?
Its a amazing I just enjoyed watching this work so much! Did u study engines somwhere or did u just try once to rebuild it? And how did u remeber where all those parts come back again? Thanks for answer

Thanks a lot! I built a 250 2 stroke engine before this that is all the experience I had. I took videos and pics of the disassembly which helps to remember later also parts diagrams and service manual tells you.

Need help! I'm building this same engine, noticed at 8:00 you showed a ball bearing, when I separated my cases I found the same thing but it wasn't from any bearings. Does that just free float in the oil pickup area ?? Any help is appreciated

Thanks a lot. These motorcycles are not that complicated and there is enough info out there to help you do just about any job. I learned how to do all this on my own over the past few years so I'm sure you can do it too. My YZ rebuild videos should help out too good luck man

Maikel Nait well first off, I recorded everything so i look back at the videos for reference, then i use parts diagrams from a service manual and online, i try to keep everything organized into bags and labeled also 👍🏼

Are case splitters universal to most mx engines
Yes! these ones will split most 125-500 cc engines
you were visited by polishing police, the crankcase is not shiny. this time we’ll get around a warning, but be careful next time.

Doesnt seem to have much compression? on my 250sxf i can stand on the kickstarter with my whole weight (85KG)
Maybe it’s seized..or you need to eat more..
I guarantee that this 450 has more compression that ur 250. This engine is all good 💪🏻

You didn’t do anything to the broken cases?
Rebuilt the motor with the broken cases and sent it. Bike is still going strong now over 30 hrs on it maybe more

jeliman13 all new engine bearings were installed 👍🏼 i split the cases again to change them all out and a new crank. I wanted to reuse the old crank but it didn’t work so then I changed the bearings since i had time

@@FULLTHROTTLEFILMZ thats mean piston,valves , and connecting rod ? i have an 2016 450sxf ktm with 23 hours from 0km i use it for cross .. and i do changues of oils every 8 hours when i should changue piston , valves or connecting rod? thx for answer !
23 hours don’t touch your motor! Haha kee doing those oil changes and if you don’t race the bike maybe change the piston at 80-100 hrs and check the valves at 30-50 hrs maybe a small adjustment. Crank should be good for 100-150 hrs or two pistons

Plus i literally said that this is not the eight way to remove a flywheel but i live in a foreign country and do what i can to make things work.
@@FULLTHROTTLEFILMZ just be careful with these things next time , you are in luck its all good ! The slighest bend in the rotor can eat up your stator
Greek-Lover oh trust me i learned that on one of my crf450s i had a slight crank bend and it shredded the stator. But if u watch this video i ended up replacing the crank because it was out of spec from that hit. As you said
