VIDEO DESCRIPTION
Yamaha R6 is out and the Yamaha R7 is in. Riders, especially R6 fans are wondering why did Yamaha do it?
I did a bit of research to tried and understand why updating the MT07 to a Yamaha R7 and discontinuing the R6 might've been a good decision for Yamaha and majority of the riders.
For relatively new riders or riders who want a sporty motorcycle for street riding, the Yamaha R7 is a good balance between sporty looks and practicality for streets. The competition, therefore, isn't the R6, it's the Kawasaki Ninja 650, the Honda CBR 650R and the Aprilia RS 660. depending on how much money you're willing to spend and your personal preference between brands, it would be worth it to compare them and make your buying decision

Some info I was really waiting on. Thanks for explaining ❤️👍😉🔥
glad i could help 👍
Dear Yamaha, now please change the R3 headlights with R6.
Haha! You wish! 😃
Im waiting for the YZF-R9...
That would be a really cool bike to have
Great video
Excellent tittle 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks Abhi
Thank you for this. I have a deposit on an r7 for when I get home from a trip. I've seen a lot of negative reviews about this bike. But based on this, I'm very excited to start riding when I get home!
It is a fun bike! I love the torque on that engine and was really close to buying one in it’s XSR700 trim. Have fun and ride safe!
The Yamaha r7. For people who want to look cool while they ride slow
haha! Dude that's a lot of us LOL
@@RiderXp nothing wrong with it, we all want compliments on our ride lol. I just think it’s silly that they keep trying to make these super aggressive looking bikes in the polite packaging. It’s like putting a Subaru motor into a lambo’s body. Sure, it ain’t a BAD engine, but it ain’t as much as you’re trying to make it look. Kawasaki has the same problem. If every bike is a ninja, even the beginner bike, the supersport becomes a lot less appealing because no one can tell anyway lol. just my opinion
Oh I agree! But i can see why Yamaha would want to come up with a product that more people are capable of using to it's full ability or atleast close to it. Although, I think Aprilia is better value for money for what you get in that package... If only Aprilia could fix their service network and parts availability issue, they would've stood a better chance at competing
They made this bike to enter twin cup racing. Getting popular in the US here I think soon they might make an r9 or something
What about the guys on 600-1000s that still ride slow lol. Too many out there have more bike than they can handle. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this r7 with a fast rider passing allot of those other bikes.
I've owned GSX-R 750, ZX-10R, RSV4 and a bunch of other bikes over the last 20+ years. I don't want to want this bike. However, I want this bike.
I have to admit, I have a bias towards twin cylinder bikes (my old Buell XB12R springs to my mind immediately, the Honda RC51 I borrowed from a buddy of mine also brings back thrilling memories...) and would love to see a larger displacement with more advanced tech derived for R1. Something that would pull in more experienced/advanced riders that don't feel a need to have something like R1.
It's definitely getting a lot of attention.. my buddy is a professional racer and he's also quite keen on the R7, So i can already see this bike being a hit with a wide variety of riders. Seems like Yamaha know what they're doing.
@@RiderXp I agree. They're DEFINITELY on the right path. I say again, I don't want to want R7 because I've got "bigger bike syndrome"... but I want R7!
haha! I feel you :)
Some Moto Enthu says try to be a sportbike in its own way. They said its a very versatile bike..
I will own this bike, for sure.
That's awesome man... I'm also considering this for my street bike since the ZX is now fully track set up..
I believe Yamaha is going for the same mentality that they used when developing the Tenere 700. A practical bike for the category, just enough tech and upgrades to be worthwile, but not so much R&D it becomes unaffordable. That way it's still accessible to the majority of people. It worked with the Tenere, even though every other ADV bike in the class is pretty much better. Reliable and cheap wins at the end of the day, and I anticipate this to fly off the shelves just like the T7 and MT07 did. It also stands to reason an R9 is in development, since the MT09 is the only bike now that doesn't have an 'R' version.
Absolutely! This is exactly in line with Japanese practices of lean and six sigma so I'm not surprised the principles made their way into product development strategies. Just enough bang for the buck that works sustainably!
They made four bikes out of the same engine.
🏍️❤️
thanks
Its an upgraded R3 so they should’ve called it the R5. I know what Yamaha was trying to achieve and they did a good job. But the the name R7 implies it’s a faster bike then the R6 which imo disrespect the R6
Agreed
Agree
but the R15?? hehehehehe
Naming it the r7 doesn’t imply it’s faster. It just has more cc’s. There are plenty of bikes like the ninja 650 which is slower than the zx6. It’s just simply about cc’s.
@@bebeKoRider or the r25! must be a rocket ship haha
Can You Believe It? Yamaha made Four bikes out of the same Engine..they got touring, adv, naked , and now sportbike. That's the marketting strat of Yamaha ...
It’s a good engine. A lot of manufacturers do that actually. Kawasaki z650, ninja650, z650rs, Vulcan 650S - same engine. Several other examples and it makes a of business sense too.
@@RiderXp The Versys 650 also
@@androidgamingtech7685 yeah that one too… how could i forget about that, i did a video on it lol!
MT-07 was already the street sport bike. I'm not sure why we need 2 of them. But I do think 100% right that they want to make a sport bike that rides like a street bike. I guess its time for me to look into a R6
A lot of people like faired bikes over nakeds, so this might tap into those riders. Obviously, if one is going for performance, R6 is still the best in the supersport class... i ride a zx6r and wish i had bought the R6 before i invested so much money in setting up the kawi for track/racing. But for street riders, the R7 would be great, especially, ones upgrading from little bikes!
@@RiderXp yeah your right
I will get this or the R9. The RS660 reliability is its weakness
dont be a fan boy go to other brands
aprilia did the same thing back in oktober 2020
Yup! only difference is that they did it better, even though pricier.
@@RiderXp yeah italians are know to price their bikes pretty spicy, but man do i want that tuono 660
@@mala7794 I'm split between the 660 and the Trident 660.. that's not as high on gadgets but it looks pretty bad ass
10k you can get a zx6r
I've got one, top trim with extended warranty ended up costing 13k OTD in FL.
And the r6 was selling for 13k plus fees and taxes in Cali. Huge price difference.
That was a MT-09.
haha!
No offense, but how can you take those "reviews" seriously when you havent even ridden the bike. Whats next, you gonna review a MotoGP bike and say its a great commuter....
None taken. It's just my opinion based on available information and how i relate that to my own experience of riding motorcycles. I think of it is editorial commentary than an actual ride review.
Oh and I am making a video about MotoGP even though i've never ridden a MotoGP bike. :)
This is a good looking bike cheap compare to r6...
exactly!
There is only one real R7 with four cylinder engine 750cc, this new bike is just trash made from MT07 scrap parts...👎🤮
That was 20 yrs ago. Super expensive, had bunch of tech issues, never made any business sense... though it's a good story now.
there were only 500 of them made. Have you even ever seen one in real life before? I don't think it matters dude...
