That was an excellent video thank you so much for doing it and actually assembling it in front of us that was a very simple explanation and very encouraging. KUDOS!!
I was a car audio/ security installer in my youth, I’m currently a certified electrician, I’m curious on the real duty rating vs max duty rating and the listing of this device . I think it’s a great idea I made something similar back in 1990s for hydraulics using a Nintendo controller and Bosch relays and starter solenoids for continuous use . For safety sakes I think I’ll use one at 50% duty rating anything at 30 amps I’ll use a Bosch buffer relay. Nice product.
Very Nice Video!! Detailed and Informative. Thank you! I am installing my 8 Gang switch panel, but ran into snag. I have Auxbeam 30 inch 180 W Amber LED light bar. But ran into bind, can't wire into 8 gang switch panel. Now have wire with original wire harness. 😮
under hood of vehicle - on the auxbeam you mentioned the red, yellow, & white wires - do they connect directly to the battery (will the device be on all the time?) or do you connect to a fuse in fuse box
Nice review $ 200 bucks pretty steep price gives you clean & easy install. Manufacturers need a unit with just 4 switches. Would be more useful for most normal folks
Did you run the positive and ground wires in the switch panel through the same bottom slot that the accessories come through ? I can't seem to make them bend at that sharp of an angle but I don't want to cut the plastic case to fit them through the side
you dont, its a momentary switch so just tap the wire on the positive of the battery to whatever brightness you want, once you have that, tape up the white wire and tuck away somewhere safe. Alternatively you can add an actual momentary switch to it and run that into the dash if you are wanting to regularly change the brightness
@@Cammydearie so how do I turn the whole backlight off. I did it once by mistake then I can't get it back again. I am running this power all the time so I don't want the backlight on at all. if you tap the white wire you get the levels but one of the levels needs to be backlight off.
What do you recommend connecting the yellow wire to for brightness? I connected it to button 1, but it doesn't change brightness if I hit the switch in rapid succession.
For my understanding, the yellow one was for turning the illumination on,that's why he recommended to connect it to the parking lights. The white one is the one for dimming, that was the one to be connected to number 1.
Thanks for explaining the RED YELLOW WHITE wiring. The manual is worthless regarding this. Also, how are we supposed to used the 3 brightness levels without installing another momentary switch? It is ridiculous that this is not configured into the panel...... Thanks again...
Great review 👍do you have, or are able to share the measurements for the control, I was thinking if it were possible to hide it in the armrest in my car.
I just bought this to replace my old switch on my boat. The single red wire that powers the system (acc) can I just wire it to the +ve terminal on the control box? Thanks
How do I use the 6-mode function on the auxbeam pod lights with this switch bar? 6 modes... white on, amber on, white and amber on, white strobe, amber strobe, while and amber strobe. Thanks.
Great instructional video. Just one thing I didn’t fully understand is the dimming. You momentarily touched the power source to dim but how is supposed to wired up to dim?
You would just install a 'Push To Make' non latching button switch. Then you can just press it to change the dimming. But to be fair, its designed to set once during install and leave alone
Will a switch on the control panel work for high low and off on a dual speed heater fan? If not do you know of any products out there that will run a fan with also lighting. Thanks Ryan.
Hopefully you can help,TIA I want to buy a 22 Inch 6 Modes White&Amber Off Road Led Light Bar Sku: ZD000655, from Auxbeam. I have the Auxbeam RGB 6 Gang Switch Panel RA60, and thanks to you and your video hooking it up was super easy, I'm trying to figure out if there is a way I can control the light bar fuctions, like switching to amber and back to white and using the strobe effects...help
Great video. but if your going to install the switch relay box (as shown in the picture) your going to need a longer power cable as the battery is on the other side of the engine.
Yellow wire is for backlighting on the controller.. you hook that up to any wire that has 12v when your headlights are on (or to any constant 12v source to have turned on all the time)..... White wire is to cycle through the 3 backlighting brightness settings... So white wire needs to be connected to its own momentary 12v switch. You don't need to connect the white wire to anything if you want, just touch the wire to 12v until you get the brightness you like, then leave it that way, it'll always be set to that brightness.
I like this idea, but when you wire it can you just run a fuse tap off the aux for power? It doesn't look like those wires are long enough to reach into the cab. Also at 00.46 you show the instructions. It looks like they have both main wires running to the ground as opposed to a ground location, is that right?
I bought this system for my handicap accessible silverado. I want to install it on my door for ease of access. With the way my access ramp for me to load up is for my truck in coming up short on wire. Do you know if they offer an extention wire for the 8 gang control or is it possible to make one. Thanks for any info you may provide
I am not aware of any extension cable for those wiring harnesss. Your other option is 1) extend the white plug wires yourself by soldering and heatshrink additional wires, OR 2) ask your local car alarm/stereo install shop if they can do that for you.
In regards to the white wire that controls the brightness of the back lighting, what would someone connect that to? You would just have a random momentary switch hanging around somewhere?
please some one help...........i already have a light bar on my truck with its on wiring harness to come on with high beam, BUT i want to add another light bar with its on wiring harness but to come on with the other light bar on high beam?? can i just add the new light bar into the 1st relay
I might be way off here. But a 100amp breaker isnt enough for you to have something connected to all the outputs and have them all turned on as well. There are 130amps able to be connected
When you are switching a device that draws high current, and you need to have on/off control. If you don't use a relay, you will have to use a very heavy gauge wire from the light all the way to inside your vehicle going to the switch, and back out. If you don't use proper gauge wire, the high current will melt the wire and cause a fire.
hi I have a rigid lightbar that has back light so the light bar comes with 3 wires black, red, white and white is only for backlight for the led bar wondering how I can wire it up to the panel. hope you answer my question.
I have the same Radiance Light bar and Pods. I wired the back light wires together to one switch and the light bar and pods to their own switches, The leds draw so little power wiring them together is not a problem. Hope this helps.
I connected all my lights to this product on my dump truck. I have lights everywhere I can see at dark dump sites now 😎🤘👍🙌 I want to thank you for making this video this is what RUclips is all about. You explained everything perfectly I hooked up my lights with ease. Thank you 🙏
The question that no one can answer. I'm going to try to hook it up to my dimmer switch for my dash lights. It is a separate roller switch. Did you figure it out?
So how do you kill all the backlight leds ? I have mounted it but it unless the red wires is key on and off it will kill. the panel I need it to keep my fridge on all the time but if the fridge is off I want to kill the whole panel and turn the whole thing off uncluding the back light.
No, there wouldn’t be an adverse affect to the equipment because they are just the feed portion on relays from switch. A small thing; The label would not match. Also. I would assume the most amperage any single terminal would be rated a max at is 30 amps due to that being the largest on the block. As long as the fuse matches the application you are using it for, you should be fine. However, the connection from battery is a max of 100 amps breaker. If you put a bunch of 30 amp loads on there and turn them all on at one time, you will trip the breaker if the total draw exceeds 100 amps. Could you make them all 30 amps and only use a couple at a time? yes.
Do you think it’s ok if on one switch i use for a pair of square flood lights like your auxbeam? I have bought same configuration like yours, and i’m confused do i have to use switch number 1 for left and number 2 for right, or i can just do both side on number switch number 1.
You typically will connect a pair of lights to one switch circuit. For demonstration, I connected the square lights to 2 separate circuits. If you connect both lights to one circuit, then both will turn on when you push one switch. You just have to make sure the 2 (or more) lights total current draw does not exceed the fuse rating on that circuit. You can determine that either by finding the current draw rating on the products spec sheet, or testing it with a multimeter with the current measurement.
dial2fast ok thank you, and one quick question if you don’t mind. My 100amp circuit breaker is fall out on the trail, and now it is missing. Do you think it’s ok if i swap it with a 130amp? Cause it is hard to find a 100amp. I only found 80amp, 130amp, and 150amp, 200amp and 300amp. Which one do i have to choose? And thank you mate👌
Does this switch remember if you had your lightbar on once you restart the vehicle. So, I turn on my lightbar, turn off vehicle, come back later and start the truck. Will the light bar remember it was on?
I have same style the trouble is you can not get new decals for switch panel and the ones that come with it do not cover what is needed..you can buy pannel on amazon from many sellers for less.
Your fuse should be rated higher in amperage than the current draw of your light bar. So let say if your light bar draws 2A, then yes you can use a 5A fuse
Ok so I connected everything and now idk where to connect the red cable or white to power up my device I connected the red cable to the red cable that’s connected to the battery but the only thing that shoes is the light comes on on the button switches but don’t turn in my led lights nor anything am I missing anything ?
This system eliminates the need for relays. Switch Pros has a similar system and thier website explains all about what solid state is and how it functions. They are 4 times the price though.
Hmm I have a near identical system, but mine doesn’t have 3 leads on the secondary pigtail wire. I only have red and white. Mine also doesn’t cycle on and off.
