I ordered this for Black Friday. So connecting this to a constant power would drain the battery even with the lights off? I'm wanting the capability use the lights with the ignition off through the app. Is this possible?
I guess the only real drain would be the blue LED on the controller when you switch it to standby mode. If you forget but it in standby mode though, all the lighting on the controller may drain the battery after a while. They’re all LEDs though so it’s probably a very small draw. I say try it and test the amperage draw with a multimeter. It would be cool to be able to control the lights and stuff remotely with the app.
I’m in a constant battle between using aftermarket solutions or trying to rig up through the OEM switches. I’ve been able to run 4 circuits for 7 aux lights on my D2 using a D1 three switch panel to replace the D2 ashtray + 1 left of steering switch, and will be adding lockers, which I hope to install in the dummy buttons to the right of steering wheel. Trying to work with the OEM wiring, as an electrical novice has been daunting though.
I admire your determination. I got my one set of lights working from a spare cruise control switch, and had planned to use another OEM switch panel in place of the ash tray, but the switch itself was really inconsistent and I gave up on that. Using all OEM switches is a pretty cool move, for sure.
Found your channel today and immediately subscribed after watching part 1 of the shop build. I watched several more this afternoon. You’re doing a great job 👏
@@tfrasca Where I find these pods not applicable is when you want a specific action to your relay, like the headlight brights activating an aux light relay
This looks really simple Tyler! Great idea, I could do with this I have wires all over my engine bay 😂
I highly recommend it. Couldn’t really be simpler.
Looks great! Glad you liked the spot.
Looks like this is Rover project 1001 to add to my list! 😁
Thanks for the share!
cool stop motion!

Asymmetry always works when it’s far enough away from center 👍😎👍
It's not quite the rule of thirds, but close...

@ thanks!
does it matter what amp fuse you connect the wire to in order to power the controller itself? like what’s the best amp fuse to tap into for it?
Oh boy, do i have some old wiring that i could remove with this gadget! (or 3)
Nice clean install and explanation.
Cheers for sharing.
Glad you like it! They also make one with 8 switches. I want one for all my cars now!
I started adding lights before the prevalence of switch pods, so i have relays as far as the eye can see 😅🤦
Admittedly, I only recently realized that these switch panel things have internal relays. Now I’m going to recommend it to everyone I see haha.

Great tutorial!!!!
if you want to add spotlights but tap it on with high beam while using this how would you connect to it?
I don’t know if you could use this switch panel for that. I think you’d have to run a relay triggered by the high beam switch.
May I ask how to collaborate with you and how to contact you
This would fit well in non-sunroof trucks. That whole panel is blank.
Good call. I really wish mine didn't have sunroofs. I don't know about where you live, but around here SD trucks are so rare.
7 star scale lmao wtf man
Awesomevid tha ks for the help
Nienow River
paint the screws
That or get some black screws. One of the two.
I have no idea why companies think that rocker switches and switch panels need to be as bright as the sun. SMH
Yeah, this is a real annoyance. Pretty much every stereo head unit I’ve ever had has been too bright too.

Great vid thanks but annoying music! Cheers.
Haha, thanks. Sorry about the music. What should I have used?

Too expensive!
Are there many less expensive options?
This is the way! Greetings from @ramblinglando

I tapped into the 20 amp cigarette lighter fuse.
@ so is that a constant power or no?
