Best Jack of 2019 -Harbor Freight Daytona Low Profile Long Reach Jack Review - Why It’s My Choice

I chose the Daytona Low Profile Long Reach Heavy Duty 3ton Floor Jack (DS300LR) over all other Harbor Freight Jacks, because it offered the most benefits for the money and most importantly for my needs. Everyone’s needs are different. I believe The Daytona Low profile Long Reach Floor Jack meets my needs and might possibly meet your needs as well. I also believe it’s the best bang for the buck. In this video I explain why I chose this Jack over the Daytona Super Duty Jack (Yellow). I also compare this jack against two other jacks. The Craftsman aluminum jack and the Larin Steel Jack. I know it’s not an apples to apples comparison, but this review still gives insight to what jack may be best for you. I’m not affiliated with Harbor Freight Tools and they didn’t sponsor me. I’m doing this for you guys out there. With so many options out there, I want to make your purchasing decision that much easier. After comparing the specs between the Daytona Super Duty jack (Low profile design lifts from 3-3/4 in. to 23-1/8 in) and the Daytona Heavy Duty Low Profile Long Reach jack (Lift height of 3-1/4 in. to 24-1/4 in), This was the lowest, longest, most well built jack for my needs. Please let me know what you think about Harbor freight floor jacks compared to other hydraulic floor jacks you have owned.

I bought this jack after seeing your review. The deciding factor was the foot pump. The smaller lifting pad is a good feature, also. Thanks for pointing that out.
Hey everyone! Here's my Floor Jack Choice for 2019! I would love to hear about your experience with Daytona Jacks from Harbor Freight in the comments below.
Thanks video you man, you sold me on this floor jack! I would also just like to say I appreciate the video quality and camera work that went into this review!
I gotta say.. this is THE best review I've seen for not just a jack but just about most you tube reviews.
Just bought one, right out of the box I put it under the dually rear of my Ford T350HD service truck with a Knapheide utility body, which currently weighs in at about 9,000 lbs... it got the whole rear off the ground enough for me to rotate the tires and install valve stem extensions... First impression is great!
Does it still work?
How is that Jack holding up I was deciding between this and the one with the 3-year warranty
@@f.b.i7334 it does
@@mrbreezeet1 still working good
@@Trigger_32 👍 thanks, good to know.!
Practice safe work habits.
I almost turned the video off after you popped out with flops on 😂🤣😂
Glad I watched, going to try to pick one of these up 👍
You sold me on this jack son. I just ordered from one Harbor Freight because of your review. Thanks. I have a BMW 128i convertible and this should work perfectly, can't wait to receive it.
Really informative review! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. 👍🏼

Wow this is amazing, perfect review! I am actually buying this jack for my S-Class so I'm glad to hear it works good!
Thanks for the purpose of furnishing many of these fantastic information.
Hello Matt Seals! You're welcome! It's my pleasure!
a well done and very comprehensive review, nice jack I like the foot pedal option looks like a very useful feature in tight quarters.
Thanks for the great video. Just picked mine up today after watching.
Good review! Thank you so much!
This is the best Daytona jack, now offered in more colors. Excellent review and editing 👍🏽
Thanks for the great review and quality production. I just bought the Yellow Daytona yesterday as I noticed it doesn't sit any higher than the LP Long reach model. I had two main areas I was hoping it would do well. 1.) 2008 Miata Sport, I wanted to be able to reach the front jack point and since both the Yellow or Orange Long Reach are the same height I found the longer reach ended up not even being needed as the yellow model slide under the car just as easily as the long reach. 2.) RAV4 Gen 3. I wanted a jack that could raise it up high enough to slide some wheel ramps under it so I could quickly and easily set the entire vehicle up on 4 ramps. I still need to test this as I did measure it and it is close. The long reach might be needed with that extra 1" of lift.
I do agree with you the smaller jack pad would work better for me as well with a Miata, Sienna and Rav4. My hockey puck allows for a more pinpoint jack location though so not a big deal. Too bad we can't buy alternate jack pads either small or large from HF.
So I think I will likely keep the yellow model as it is just as low as the long reach so I didn't end up even needing that extra reach for that deep jack point on my Miata. I like the 3yr warranty and zerk fittings all over to properly grease it even though I don't need that level of durability as I don't use the jack all that often. Also there was $20 off the Yellow model that made it cheaper by $10 than the long reach. The only main feature I might like is the extra 1" lift and foot lift.
Incredible review on something as simple as a floor jack. I'm buying it. Congrats.
That's it! I'm buying one of these just for the high lifting point. That's amazing
I personally bought this jack 4 months ago after comparing it to the yellow one, the pistons are the same size welds are the same. The only difference is the saddle and saddle mount are smaller and the front wheels dont have zerks fittings to take grease, and the handle on the yellow jack has a quick release pull pin
Great video! Only complaint is the large volume range. My constant adjusting was a distraction from the quality of video this is!
1:30 usually the nut comes first and then I slide it out, but to each their own
Make sure you give it a pull
Knuckleheads LMAO
Looking at buying one. I wish the lift plate was a little bigger round for my application. Nice video! thanks.
Both of my yellow Daytonas do that saddle pump thing. I was going to exchange it, but all the ones on display do it too. Therefore, I've concluded it's normal and don't care anymore LoL! excellent editing!
*update* I'm only adding this because of the notification i got about my original post which brought me back here. Here goes... the gondola over my porch has a rotting main post holding it up. I used my yellow Daytonas to jack up other wooden posts to support the structure while i replace the rotten post. The jacks have been holding it up for about 4 days now. No leak down.
Thanks Topgunns1000! Also, thanks for sharing that information with everyone. I was able to reduce the saddle pump to almost zero. It comes down to getting the fluid level just right. Cheers!
Great review. Already bought one but I’ve learned a lot here. I feel even better about my purchase.
Excellent review! 👍👍
Thanks for the review. I was between this and the yellow. I just got this for 159.99 which is a pretty good deal. Skipped the warranty, the reviews on these are too good and I use a jack less than 8 times a year usually. Am using them to lift a 340i (3700 lbs) and a Jetta (3200 lbs), so the orange is more than enough.
I do need 2 jacks and have an old craftsman that's pretty worn out. Thinking I'll get the yellow next year around the holidays as it was on sale this year. Hopefully that'll mean two jacks that outlast me with the proper care. Thanks again for the thorough review.
Hahaha the smoky intro was great.
Excellent review and demonstration! The Daytona 3 Ton Long Reach jack is definitely the way to go!
Cutting Edge Cool, I totally agree!
"NOTE: The fins on the sides of the Daytona, reinforce the frame and gives it more STRENGTH" ...................Nuff said.
Great information 🤟🏽
Excellent job on this review! I hope our buddy at Project Farm gets a look at it and offers his thoughts!
Great video, Skip. Your reasons for selecting this jack over the "Yellow" one were my own as well. I like how you demonstrated adding the oil and playing around with it. You are very clear with your explanations. I really appreciate that.
One small suggestion, if I may? You might want to lose the loud music that plays for about 10 seconds starting at 6:21. No good. Sorry. By the way, did you get the extended warranty? If so, how much did you pay for how long a warranty?
Excellent video review and demonstration. Thanks for putting this up.
Hello Anonymous! Thank you for the kind words. Hahahha It's a reference from Epic Rap Battles Of History. It's cheesy I know, but I like adding some cheese to my videos from time to time :) Cheers brother!
Yes it was a reference for us youngins lol.
Harbor freight has the floor jack game on lock! 👍
Have the same one. Love it.

Epic jack battles of history! 😂 sometimes i do the voice from that and im misunderstood😂
Hey man, what is the length from tip to the up bend above the “T”? Then what is the length and height above the “A”?
I have a lowered turbo track 350z I lift from the front but with a normal jack I need to drive up 2 2x4’s before I can get under it. I’m trying to see if this will reach before it hits my bumper and allow me not to have to drive up onto blocks every time. Shit gets annoying lol
Great video thank you! I'm wanting to pull the engine/transmission/suspension out from the bottom of my car and it's looking like I may be able to with that jack if I can find a way to hold the body up or I may roll the assembly out the side (I have a pallet with wheels I can use if clearance allows). I ordered it with 15% off so around $170, plus shipping and I also got the Pittsburgh 25" breaker bar with a comfort grip for $15.
If you own a Mercedes S500 you don't need a floor jack you need a bank account and a Mercedes Dealer!
LOL! You couldn't be more right about that!...
I disagree. Just because you have a relatively expensive car doesnt mean you should forget about doing you own maintenance. It's one way of affording the car in the first place. This comment is spoken like a true poor person. Ijs...
Or a mechanic like me that owns a top of the line diagnostics computer and does side work... Lol
@@tggraham3321 moreso by said by most people because people think the dealers know best. This is not reality. Dealer techs are only trained on one vehicle and what they commonly have issues with.
If you find yourself a tech like myself that has the tools and does side work or simply a german car shop not dealer they typically cost half the price of dealership use the same parts and have better training.
@@mustangdemon87 better training? I dont know about that. Most manufacturers now partner with tech schools to bring manufacturer specific training into the schools automotive program. Plus, dealers have access to specialty information syetems and all sorts of manufacturer data that independent mechanics cant touch.
I think I'm buying the Daytona jack. Thanks for the video.
Good review. Got to get one of those SKIP ART PICTURES ...all things automotive T shirts
Thanks Khal Maj! I'm Working on it! :) Cheers!
How has it held up over time? How much have you actually used it? Do you know if there is a difference between the orange and the blue?
I saw that jack at Harbor Freight, I was going to buy it for the same reasons as you. I went to pick up the box and noticed that it was very heavy. I thought it's too big and heavy, I don't have anywhere to store it, having a single car garage. The thing is that I noticed in your video, is that the handle comes off very easy, which would allow me to store it. I think I will go back and buy it.
Hi George Cicairos, That sounds like a great idea! Have you also thought about placing the jack in the center of your garage at the end, so that when you park your car the jack would sit under your bumper? You would just have to be careful not to hit it or run over it haha!
Bring it inside and put it Under the bed.
yes, and you can also wake up your wife by lifting one side of the bed
Great video!
good video brotha
I have this jack in blue, same design, different manufacturer. This jack works a treat, just what the Dr ordered.
First one out of the box was wobbly with one front wheel not touching the ground. Returned it. Decided to inspect the replacement in the store. Second one out of the box was worse. The front wheel retainer clip fell off pulling the jack out of the box and was wobbly as well, one wheel not touching the ground. I asked for a refund and gave up on the jack.
15:00 In fluid dynamics, the presence of air in the fluid creates the exaggerated or erratic actuator movement you experienced where too much (hydraulic in this case) fluid has the same effect as too little. Every system has a "just right" point, whether it's your washing machine or your toilet tank or brake lines.
Got one in blue myself! It’s great especially for lowered cars
Hey The legendary Red X! Blue is such a nice color. I agree, it's really good for lowered cars. Enjoy your new jack!
Same here, blue.
Is it hard to find the jack’s release point to slowly drop the vehicle?
My last jack dropped incredibly fast...
The Daytona Super Duty is the SnapOn jack. Same manufacturer, same factory, same assembly line, same jack. Only jack with the 3 year warranty.
This long reach is only 1 inch longer in length from pivot to saddle, and goes about 3/4 of an inch taller and about 1/2 inch shorter. The Super Duty is worth the extra 40 dollars over this Long Reach version. Plus I found the foot pedal to be a useless feature that's just in the way.
Edit: Personally, I mostly work on trucks, SUVs, and tractors and the larger saddle pad on the Super Duty jack is a much better feature.
Also, the Daytona Super Duty jack reaches full height in only 4-1/2 full stroke pumps.
Hello Salty Steel! I guess it's time to add the Super Duty to the collection haha!
Are you able to jack up a car and or truck fully just using the foot pedal and if you can is it easy or will the will the pedal snap off?
i work in tight places daily with a floor jack where i can only get about 1/4 of a pump
Thanks for your video i have a very important question were you able to carry it into your truck ? Or is it too heavy for one person to carry , i am asking because i gonna carry it in and out of my truck and i need to know your experience on that
Hello Amr Ali! It's very heavy. If you are going to carry it in your truck maybe once or twice then its ok, but if you will be lifting it in and out of your truck every day I would recommend getting an aluminum jack. I hope this helps. Cheers!
Love the force field safety shoes 👍
I have the Daytona 3 ton low profile rapid pump but not the extended reach, it’s DEFINITELY worth the $ I paid, I would pay $200 for this jack, honestly, it’s that nice, I had a $119.99 coupon & used 20% off coupon & STOLE THIS THING!!!! I might get an extended reach also someday, never have too many tools!!!
Nice job!
i got tired of the jack and stands so i bought a quickjack 7000ext all four tires off the ground and feel way safer and a lot more comfortable under my vehicle in my opinion it was well worth the investment great in depth review sir on the daytona
Hi V R, That's cool! How convenient is it to store it?
@@GarageDynamics my son built me a set of brackets that i could mount them horizontally on the wall at each side of my garage i wish i was able to figure out how to add a pic here they arent hard to store great investment
@@vr-cx6lq That's very kind of your son. I took at look at the quickjack and it looks like a good tool to have
@@GarageDynamics i've been watching your videos for sometime the 722.6 transmission fluid change tutorial i found quite helpful for my sons ml320. the quickjack worked great for me in my low ceiling garage for working on my cars and i move it out to the driveway when working on my ml320 and it lifts my 2014 ram 1500 with ease. i was reluctant at first to spend the money but i definitely have no regrets since buying it last year
@@vr-cx6lq Thank you V R! I appreciate the loyalty :) Wow, this jack just keeps getting better! Haha! Are you using the jack on a flat or angled driveway?
I bought this same jack but exchanged it for the yellow super duty because the wheel are held together with only some cheap clips and rivets on back wheels were cracked. The yellow one has nuts to hold better. Just taught that was its weakest point of the jack. Other than that. Both jacks work great. Only 10$ difference
Could be a little air in the Daytona jack, purge and check fluid level.
Good video man! Use one of these at work all the time and wanna grab one for the house.

Hello David Junior, Thanks for the kind words. Sure! I'll add it to the queue!
You have a soothing voice.
Not saying it will change the performance in any great way, but on the craftsman (I have that exact one), check and fill the fluid if low. Mine was a bit low and it improved performance after I corrected the level.
Thanks for the advice GNX157!

I bought this jack for my Excursion. 4 ton veichle loaded. So easily lifts half of my truck. Obviously I put 6 ton jack stands under neath before I work underneath a car
Nice Nick and Ford's!! I'm glad to hear everything worked out for you!
I have this jack and works great. They also sell a cross bar adapter that allows you to make a T and for small/compact vehicles you can raise both axles at the same time. Makes it easier to do brake work. The only drawback is sometimes the lifting point and jack stand point are the same. Have to find a designated spot for jack stands. For brake and suspension work you can remove a tire and set the Jack Stand on the control arm. Flip flops in a work shop environment aside he does have a point about not using to support. That’s what jack stands are for.
can you work under that ? Is it safe to use it while working under it? Or do we need separate fixed metal jack constructions to put underneath to stabilize the car?
Dennis Yildirim use proper jack stands better safe than sorry
Damn now I don’t know which floor jack to get, this one or the yellow professional one?
This one sits a little lower, goes a little higher and goes a little deeper than the yellow one. Depending what you want to do with it or what you're working on. They both handle the same weight. I got the yellow one when it just came out and it's still going strong. I have zero issues with it.
I'm really liking this new one because of the foot lift option and the added reach. Visit the store and look at them on the shelf. They have them assembled and on display.
the yellow one is literally the same jack as snap ons. literally same factory. snap on actually sued them over it but lost since the manufacturer sold it to both of them. the new daytonas seem to be just riding on the curtails of the yellow one. the yellow one has been proven, the orange have not.
Ben Ault are they still made in the same factory as fap off? Or have they moved to cheaper manufacturing since the fame they got from the lawsuit?
Yellow Professional is a better jack.. imo. Pump internals are better. 3 yr warranty as well
Thank you
Hey I have a question this is my first jack I have ever bought/used and was wondering if it’s normal that I can turn the handle counterclockwise without it stopping/locking? Is this normal? I can just keep turning but then the more I turn the more I need to turn clockwise to lock the floor jack in order to raise it up. Is this normal or should a floor jack lock while turning counterclockwise? Thanks in advance!
Hello Adam R, My jack operates the same way. It locks when you turn it clockwise, but it will continue spinning if I turn it counterclockwise.
Great. I neede something that will fit under my Bentley
Hello Tomas Gimenez, Yes! This jack has you covered! 😁
would this be a good gift for a father who likes to work on cars at an amateur level?

@@GarageDynamics I did a video
I have the yellow professional and I love it.
I have the yellow one and it's way better quality
The only thing I don’t like is that being a new jack isn’t supposed to come ready with the right amount of oil?
I have the same jack with green coloring. I have had no problems and don't expect any. A lot of cars are so low that you need the confidence of a low profile/long reach. I still employ jack stands or a bottle jack (as backup) in case I accidentally move/release the Daytona. The steel model is heavy but rugged. Maybe one day Harbor Freight will figure out a way to add handles for mobility.
Weld your custom handles to it!! You could get it done easy with a cheapo flux core welder as long as the settings are set correctly.
This one good for s2000?
Where in the Philippines i can buy?
No grease fittings. Was the deal breaker for me. Had to go the model up.
I really wanted one of these until I found out that that it only has a 90 day warranty. For almost 200, I would want more assurance.
I was told at HF that they carry 1yr on these LR LP models and 3yr on Pro Yellow model. I bought the Yellow.
$60 for 2yr warranty
How is this Jack holding up for everyone? I am torn between this Jack and the professional one with a 3-year warranty.
Harbor freight should put a 3-year warranty on all of these Jacks I think Menards is giving a 3-year warranty on all of their jacks.
Hello anthony diodati! I use this jack a lot and it's holding up fine. It's a tank!
I wish the warranty was better on this Jack I am just not comfortable with a 90-day warranty
How high does it raise?
That dead spot on the Daytona jack was because it was your first time lifting something with considerable weight. It was literally priming the cylinders and creating the high pressure it needs to lift. The 2nd time you lift with it. It will be gone. I have the 3 ton super duty and it also did that on the first lift. You didn't think of this. You're a mechanic. ???
You just scared the crap out of me, you can replace an engine with that Daytona
Many still don't know what the foot pump is for. And it's not to lift vehicles at all.
Can you please provide the link or complete name?
