I'm so glad this popped up on my You Tube page. Leon's story, and the comments that follow, made my day.

So Dylan wrote two songs during playback. When I Paint My Masterpiece and Watching The River Flow. Watching The River Flow was written by Dylan for Leon Russell, it's his style -- but it's been covered by many other bands, including the Rolling Stones. How's that for twenty minutes of work. Dylan's reputation as the greatest composer on the planet is well deserved.

Th reproducer on Brownsville Girl said that they stopped the recording because they needed another verse. He started sending everyone home for the day. Dylan said wait a minute, took a piece of paper and pen and wrote the final verse in a few minutes. Then the finished the song.’ And that;s why he’s Bod Dylan’

Of all the folks that have covered Dylan songs, Leon has done it best.

To many of these exceptional artists are no longer with us ! And yeah people say there’s still good music coming through and I guess there is some but man artists like Leon , Tom petty ,Leonard cohen , prince, the list goes on David Bowie ,we will never see the likes again, such a privilege to have been born when the greatest songwriter of all time was around and getting to see Bob Dylan many times , what a joy

Funny story about Dylan ... My condo was on the boardwalk in Atlantic City and used to go out there and busk for a couple weeks before going on tour to get my live chops in order. One of the songs I used to do was ' like a rolling stone' was doing it when this guy comes by sits down on the bench across from where I was doing it and at the end he gets up comes over and in his best Bob Dylan voice says - "Ya done good"

Freakin' LEON! You are correct...Dylan, 999,999 times in 1,000,000 doesn't like to explain his songs...ultimately, like all art, Dylan's songs mostly ARE what they ARE to the listener. To have Dylan write a couple of classic songs in 20 minutes on the back of an envelope + put them to you + your bands music is mindblowing. Then for him to take you around New York + show you things + places he wrote some of his early songs about proves that you Leon are ONE IN A MILLION!!!

Tulsa has a Woody Guthrie Museum and a new Bob Dylan Museum opening in 2022. Hopefully a Leon Russell Museum in Tulsa is next!
