Folks, I picked up a cherry limited edition Goodtime recently. It is absolutely awesome. I want to thank you for thinking of an senior guitar picker who can afford an excellent quality banjo. My wife and I play for other old folks to entertain them. She’s also a Parkinson’s patient and I’m going through radiation for prostate cancer so the music is therapy for us too. God Bless you all. May you continue your fine work.

Just bought a Goodtime for my son,he’s never played a 5 string so Christmas. He plays a tenor in my band a Gold Tone which is great and also a Strat. This will add a new tone lovely instrument when he learns to play it. Cheers.🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

I have two , one ten year old and the one I bought at the beginning of 2024. Both sound great and I can see how the inlays and details have become fancier between the two. I always love the sound! Thanks also to Deering for making a Left hand model!

I have a Deering Goodtime Special and love it! It has very accurate intonation. I recently bought a Hatfield, which sounded awesome, but the intonation was so bad that it was unplayable. Arthur Hatfield refused to work with me and only offered a refund, so I had no choice but to return it. $3,000 is a waste of money for a great sounding instrument that won't play in tune because it has defective intonation. So, you cannot go wrong with the Goodtime Special as far as intonation. The tone is okay, nicer than average, but it doesn't have the coveted growl, resonance and lushness of the best of banjos. For that you'll have to buy something much more expensive. But for the price, you can't beat the Goodtime Special.

I love my Goodtime Banjo, Ive had it for almost 4 years and it has been a joy to learn on and I never felt like I am playing a cheap or entry level instrument. It will serve me for many more years to come.

I like that it is made in a way that minimizes waste. If you can play you can make good music on this banjo. I strung mine with nylon strings and it is nice and funky.

goodtimes have been the gold standard beginner banjo for as long as they have been around. I got one of the early Goodtime specials 20 years ago as my first banjo. Sold it to a friend but it still plays and sounds great.

I bought a new 12” Goodtime Americana a few years ago. It’s my first and only banjo. I swapped out the tailpiece for a Deering no-knot model and put nylon strings on. I absolutely love it. Most weeks it gets as much or more playing time as my guitars.
I’m so glad Deering makes the Goodtime models. As a beginner I couldn’t justify spending a lot on a banjo, but I wanted a quality instrument made in the United States that I could easily sell to recoup some of my losses if I didn’t enjoy playing banjo.
Luckily I love playing the banjo and I have no plans to ever sell it.

Great video! I love my Deering Goodtime. I bought the basic open back, and then later added the resonator from Deering. I am a big fan of Deering banjos and recommend them. I look forward to buying an upper line model from Deering at some point, but I will always keep my Goodtime.

They do play in tune, do stay in tune, and after a few years of use still play in tune. I have several decades of playing / owning some great Banjos, and have to share this Goodtime is the best so far. Have found many new other brands in stores that are out of tune with themselves and incapable of being in tune, no matter what is done to them. Rubbish every one! But Deering are always in tune with themselves. Thanks to Deering I am still playing American Banjo!

Im so excited! I just bought a goodtime 2 on ebay! I had an older banjo and got fairly good but then my sister asked to borrow it lol. I couldn't ask for it back. Being a guitarist i have many to play but am excited to have a decent banjo now that will stay in tune and be able to play easier. Very impressed with the quality. I have rock maple trees on my land and know how nice that wood is!

They have a "Blackgrass" model that's a blacked-out version. the reason for the simple blond or black finishes is to keep costs down and quality up.

I bought their Goodtime Artisan for that very reason...dark wood, armrest, great quality tuners. Good looking enough to showcase it in my living room on a stand so it's right there ready to just pick up during the day...
