One of the hardest duties of a parent is to teach their child that the world is full of predators, and how not to become prey, without ruining their chances at happiness.
My father has a friend. Her son was kidnapped and the police couldt find him. 2-3 years later the boy's aunt went to Thailand. On that trip, a boy tap on her back, it was her nephew. He couldn't speak because they cut his tongue. The aunt tried to save him but 3 men came out of nowhere and snatched him. He was never seen again. The aunt never told the boy's mother about it because she doesn't want her to get depressed. Really sad though. To this day I always wonder what happened to him, like is he still alive.
Great movie. Other great movies like that are Equalizer with Denzel Washington and the first Bourne Identity movie. Other great Liam Nisson movies are Rob Roy 1995 and Darkman 1990 which is an original superhero movie Sam Ramie made before he got the rights to do the Spiderman movies. Another great movie like this is the first Jack Reacher (Which has a great Amazon series named Reacher)
Totally agree about Rob Roy, Bourne Identity and Jack Reacher. Three of the better action/thrillers I’ve seen. And I absolutely adore Denzel but somehow that one didn’t click for me.
This woman wouldn't get into a cab with him, but I also wouldn't get in a cab with any stranger (other than the driver). I'm pretty paranoid, though, and the few times I've taken Ubers I've been on red alert the entire ride, ensured there were working door handles on the inside before getting in, and let people know I was going to be in said Uber (with phone in hand at all times). The one time I arranged for an Uber for just myself, I had it drop me off down the street from where I live, waited for the car to leave, ensured it wasn't still there and watching, and then went to my place. So, I watch this movie and yell, "Stupid, stupid girl" all throughout the beginning because my paranoid self could never.
Shooting the guys wife is a perfect example of how protective you are as a parent; absolutely zero fucks given to the trail of blood you leave behind in order to save your child.
For some reason, in the scene when he tracks down Mr. Good Luck, I always thought it would've been better if he told him, "You don't remember my voice, but I remember yours. I told you I would find you." I don't know why I think that every time I see that scene. Damn you, writing classes... haha
This was a 1A reaction, because every scene of the movie is immediately enjoyed ten times more than usual when the reactor exudes such a strong sense of justice.

Gotta see Taken 2, Equalizer, Equalizer 2 next. Liam rejoined the acting world with this franchise after taking hiatus to mourn his wife's passing. He resurrected himself as an action hero in the best way. Also check out Olympus has Fallen, London has Fallen and Angel has Fallen aka the Mike Banning series with Gerard Butler which is amazing!
An interesting fact is that this film was Directed by a former Stunt Performer, a trend that's kicked off more and more (the biggest being the John Wick Directors). The first film Directed by Taken's Director was a kickass action flick called "District B-13", which I strongly recommend as well. It's also from the same Writer/Producer as Taken!
@29:50 it has to be in a life or death situation hand combat you have to end the fight as quickly and as brutally as possible. And in dealing with multiple people I was always taught the first person you get your hands on you finish that person as quickly in his brutally as possible that way everybody else that is in the proximity that can see it can see what they're getting into and the hesitation on their part will give you the opening to keep moving through the group. And the most obvious statement of all use every in any weapon at your disposal in a life and death situation there is no such thing as a fair fight there is no such thing as rules or code of conduct the Only Rule is simply to survive and make the other person no longer capable of fighting.

I remember seeing the snippet of Liam Nisson on the phone talking to the kidnappers. This made me want to see this movie, then, when I finally saw it . . . I knew that I already saw this film via Family Guy. Family Guy did a spoof of the film. All I can say is, "Dakkar Noir!" 😸
