Everyone remembers the 'I will find you' speech, but honest to God. My favourite dialogue definitely has to be the one that finished that off. ESPECIALLY how he acted it.
He scans the room, looks him straight in The Eyes, "You may not remember me. But we spoke on The Phone 2 days ago... I told you I would find you." 😅

The airport scene at the end seemed like too much of a perfect ending. When they walk to the car, he refuses the ride home and says he’s going to be alright and take a cab. After they drive off, it’s just him standing there for 3 or 4 seconds.
The tone is a little ominous, like he knew he wouldn’t make it home. After all, he only took down a few guys from a GLOBAL network.
Distancing himself from his daughter in the end, would have been his final act of protecting her.
I was thinking the cab was going to explode or there would be somebody waiting for him in his house.
    Either way… great movie!!!

This movie came out when I was 21, not long after I graduated college and moved out. He came to my apartment at 3 am because he had a nightmare after watching this and though he never told me details, it was clear it scared the shit out of him and involved me. I appreciated that they didn’t give us the old plates out formula of James Bond movies where there are explosions, huge shoot out scenes where the impossible happens, jumping off buildings and 20 min chase scenes. It stayed grounded and showed how efficient he was in taking the animals out. As a father of 2 girls and 2 boys I taught my sons much like my mother taught us, protect your sisters and call me when your mother makes stupid decisions like letting my daughters go to sleep overs or on vacation trips with friends. This movie hit me hard because I had a similar situation where my ex was mad because I didn’t allow my oldest daughter who was 16 go with her friends to Can Cun on spring break. My ex told me I was evil and mean and that when she was 16 her mother let her go out so she said her daughter has a right. I can’t keep them locked in and away from the world forever and if she wanted to let her go I wouldn’t even know since I don’t live with them anymore. I said I can give 2 shits what your mother allowed and yea you guys can lie to me and she can go, but if I would have found out she did that behind my back I would fly to Can Cun and embarrass her in front of her friends and snatch her ass up and bring her home, then I would drop her off and immediately cut her off and stop paying their rent and school clothes and they would get nothing from me. My ex knows and so do my kids that I am not one to be fucked with cuz I would do anything to protect my kids from the evil muthufuckas in this world and also protect them from themselves. She didn’t go with her friends and when I picked them up to take them to Disneyland instead my daughter told me she was not mad and she understands me and we had a great time without their naive dumb mother.

it should be noted, NOT EVERY seventeen year old has this kind of bad luck
    YES, these dangers exist
the mother is idiotically calculating "what are the odds it will happen to me and my family?" No one wants to think that the bad things will happen TO THEM
the father is calculating THE DANGERS which can tend to be overly protective from an objective view
in truth, what is about to happen, and we know this because of the TITLE, so, no spoilers there, could have been easily avoided, even IF the girls still went ALONE.......they needed to to not have such wagging tongues

the movie was SO GOOD, that they attempted to ruin it with multiple sequels, creating memes for the family being "taken" in new ways.

I've loved this film since day one! When it's your kid (in my case my step-daughter) no matter how pissed you are that their naivete and youthful arrogance and stubbornness put them in a dangerous situation-- you use EVERY skill and resource you have to bring them home safely.
Guaranteed after his daughter's experience, he never told her, "I told you so."... Although if I were him, I would never let that passive aggressive ex-wife hear the end of it! 💯

If you like the unabashed cold killer protagonists of Taken and John Wick, check out the Death Wish series with Charles Bronson from…the 70s, maybe?

Liam Neeson is a beast! He's done some downright legendary characters including being a knight of the Round Table, a major historical figure in the fight for Irish independence, a liberator of the Jews in WW2, TWO GODS, and the mentors of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Batman! And in all that time, it was this movie that solidified him as one of the greats in the action industry!

Parts 2 and 3 are also good. Maybe not quite as good as this one because you know more about what to expect from him, but they are still good ones. I knew that when you gave this a "7" at the beginning that you would change it to at least a "9".

*Her friend ended up drugged and dead. The other one, his daughter, valued herself and her body and bcz she was a virgin is what kept her alive, at least for longer which bought him some extra time, made her be valued more and they sold her. Virginity is worth lots LOTS more than money!*
