@@LA_HA Agree. Not necessarily because it was a small screen, but the angle of the camera wasn't very convincing. If it was an overhead shot, it would have been more visceral.
One of my favorite scenes is when John lets Francis go, because there is actually subtext to the scene. When John asks Francis about how much weight he lost, Francis responds that he lost 60 pounds according to the subtitles. What Francis said in Russian though was that he had lost 27 kgs, which is roughly 60 pounds. Shoot, that's a really neat detail. I'd always assumed it was just because they knew each other like you said, but that's way cooler. It's a shame the subtitles skewed that information.
Another one is when Viggo served Iosef a shot of vodka. Viggo served him the cheap bottom shelf low grade vodka and even though Viggo poured one for himself, he never drank it. He put it back on the bar and punched Iosef in the gut. He then went behind the bar and poured himself the high end top shelf premium vodka in a lead crystal glass and drank it. He never shared his best stuff with his son.

All the hand-to-hand fighting was legit, in terms of being real and effective. Maybe some liberties here or there but it's a primer on how to break skulls and arms. You probably noticed how Wick kept his pistol tucked in close to his body, a technique called Center Axis Relock. It allows you to switch from medium distance shooting and close quarters combat quickly. If you're ever curious about what guns are used in a movie, look no further than the Internet Movie Firearms Database (IMFDB). For instance, Wick's primary pistol is a Heckler & Koch P30L. Also, the "rifle" he used to shoot up Vigo's SUV is a Kel-Tec KSG, or Kel-Tec Shotgun. It's a pump-action, single barrel, dual magazine tube 12 gauge. Most shotguns hold 5-7 shells. The KSG can hold anywhere from 10-24 shells! I've held the full length KSG and it is a monster and almost comical in size. I loved it. Sadly didn't get to fire it.
KSG is fun... I'm looking for one to purchase. The gun range I go to has one for rent. It's heavy when fully loaded at 14+1. Takes a toll on your shooting shoulder when fully loaded but it's a rush to shoot it even though you might be a little sore the next day. It's not hard to lose track of how many pumps you did while shooting if you're used to shooting my 4+1... 😅
My blood pressure shot through the roof when they killed the dog, I don’t think I was ever so mad during a movie than that scene and some people said the dog crawled over to John when he was knocked out hence the bloody drag mark across the floor.
I'm glad they went there. That scene was short and simple, but it's an instant, very heavy, attention grabber. Kinda like the kid on the flotation raft in Jaws.

Good Guy Keanu Reeves. John Wick is a legend and Reeves is one in real life. The "You've lost weight Francis." scene has Francis telling John how many people are in the club, because he doesn't lie to John, he lives.
Actually Daisy crawled over to John before she died. That part threw me into a rage. The door man is Kevin Nash (aka Diesel from WWE). You laugh at the idea of killing people with a pencil, but you will see it in John Wick 2 against two people. Be careful what you wish for. Many have begged to see that, have also regretted wanting to see it. I’m glad you watched this movie. I implore you to watch the movie Nobody after you watch the other two John Wick movies. John Wick is lawful where as Nobody is chaotic. Actor Daniel Bernhardt, who plays Kirill in this movie, also appears in Nobody. He was Bob Odenkirk’s trainer and helped him get into shape for the role. You’ll see what I mean when you watch Nobody.
The number of kilos, not pounds, the doorman says he lost is the number of guards in the club. The dog he takes at the end was going to be put down the next day so he saved him. 3 with a pencil, just keep watching lol.
Sad to say this but the puppy actually crawled to be next to John before she died from her injuries (that's why they show trail of blood leading to John that John cleaned up). 💔
Great movie!! My hubby took me to see this movie....come to think about it we hadn't married yet so date movie. Law Abiding Citizen is a good action movie. If you want to go old school watch Red Dawn the 80's version. The remake is eh so so but the origional is so much better. By the way KR learned how to shoot and handle the gun for real by doing 3 gun. This is really hard because you have to master handgun, rifle and shotgun. My husband use to compete in handgun and some rifle but to do 3 gun takes time and lots of pratice. My son and hubby laugh at me because I love to shoot handgun and rifle but I hate shotgun. I've had some rifles that have strong recoil but the shotgun kicks my butt. I like to shoot from the bench on rifle so nothing like competition. I hurt my left hand so I can only shoot about 300 rounds then I use the bench. You have to respect anyone that can shoot 3 gun. You should check out the youngest 3 gun womens champion, she is around 13 in the video I saw. She might be the young adult instead of ladies either way she is a great shooter. I just can't remember her name, my bad I suffer from CRS.
The priest wasn't a real priest. He was window dressing to make it look like a real church. In reality it was just for Vigo to launder money without drawing attention.
The one of the coolest parts about the entire John Wick franchise is that every dialogue is impactful and balanced. When there's dialogue, there aren't too many or too little words.
that song playing when iosef and his friends pull up to the gas station is comically on-brand. every time i see that scene i can't help but chuckle lol. loved your reaction, this is one of my favourite series. highly recommend continuing the series as the 4th movie is expected to be released next year.
I have to be honest, you skipped one of my favourite moments. "Miss Perkins, your membership of the Continental has been, by thine own hand - revoked." Multiple shots.
I love Viggo's reaction when Aurelio explains who his son messed with. When a Russian mob boss' reaction to the name John Wick is "Oh", you just know somebody just messed up big time. Also, if John Wick's name doesn’t come up in that conversation (why Aurelio put his hands on Josef), the cops would be finding pieces of Aurelio all over the city for weeks!
Tom Kennedy: I always thought Viggo Really should've sent a professional negotiator to talk to Wick, because that was The Worst attempt to calm Wick (and the situation) down after Viggo's son did what he did. "Let us not resort to our baser instincts..." Just garbage. Haha
@@amit_patel654 Really? How do you know that? I mean it sounds completely reasonable given the situation and Viggo's character, but is there somewhere this is explicitly stated? I'm just wondering because I'd like to know some details, like how many were there? Was he given permission to kill each boss? Were there pencils involved? You know, stuff like that
@@LA_HA I’m not exactly sure where I heard it from. It might have been a theory or something I read, not sure. But it does makes sense, as Vigo says “the bodies he buried that day, laid a foundation of what we are now”. I can’t think of anything else that would do that.
I remember in interviews, they film makers said they chose to kill off the dog (the real one is just fine and still adorable) because it would trigger the audience into giving John (and the movie) free reign to do what ever he (they) felt necessary for revenge. They're basically saying that no one hurts doggos and gets away with it. Edit: The main reason (in my mind) that this movie's action scenes feel so real is because the director rand lead film makers are all stunt performers. If I recall, the director has even doubled Keanu in the past, which is how they met.
First time?! Well finally lol my favorite aspect of this movie is how instead of the villain being put on a pedestal, it's the opposite. As if John wick is the obstacle in the movie. Fun fact, the guy who made the movie is actually a stunt performer. Which is why the stunts are so well done Gotta watch the sequel now. I don't like the third as much but the sequel is truly a good sequel And since you asked, the movie was filmed in new york
the Jon Wick house is out here on Long Island in a very exclusive town called Mill Neck.. The runway that John practices on is at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, NY.. :)
You definitely need to see the next 2 in the series. Sooo good. I just binged all 3 this past Sunday. Plus you'll get to see a pencil scene in the 2nd one.
He has been in Bram Stoker's Dracula, Point Break, Devil's Advocate and Speed too. If you've seen any of them already he was pretty good alongside all of those veterans especially Kurt Russell and Al Pacino but he does good all by himself as you can see in the Matrix series and this series. And if you haven't seen any of those older movies I recommend Point Break.
John Wick spared Francis at The Red Circle in exchange for a target count in the club. Francis had not lost 28 kilos, there were 28 targets in the nightclub. You can see videos on RUclips if Keanu doing live fire range training.
We (as Americans) get into this as a movie, but actually being in something like this would be quite upsetting. I find it very interesting that a Brit can also get into it as a movie and not be extremely upset due to the fact that you don't have as many guns and not as many people actually learn gun safety and how to shoot. 😁
Keanu really committed to this role and worked really hard at the firearms. Search Keanu's 3 gun training on YT. Interesting stuff. Dude is a certified badass on and off the silver screen.
Something else that I heard about this movie, is that the dog was very popular on set, especially with the actor that would have to "kill" it in the scene. After the director yelled cut, the actor picked the dog up and held/cradled the dog for a long time. The actor grew so attached to the dog that he would end up buying it from the trainer and has kept the dog as his pet ever since. I believe the actor was the one that was wearing the baseball cap and who John shot while he was playing the video game.
Keanu can really shoot that good in real life, just like his long time martial art practitioning. Please check out his video of him and Halle Berry shooting at a famous trainer for the movies target range.
John was born Jardani Jovanovich (Russian: Джордани Йованович, Belarusian: Ярдані Іовоновіч) in Padhorje, Byelorussian SSR, Soviet Union on September 12, 1964. He was orphaned at a young age before being taken in by an old friend of his father, who would eventually become John's mentor. At one point, he was recruited by a Ruska Roma organized crime group and trained by its leader, a woman known as "the Director", in New York City. Under the Director's supervision, John was trained as a hitman and learned skills including martial arts, firearms and other weaponry, tactical driving, infiltration, escapology and more. After leaving the Ruska Roma organization, he was arrested for an unspecified crime and incarcerated. Upon release, he was manipulated into joining the underground crime world operating out of the Continental Hotel chain. John eventually became the top enforcer for the New York Russian crime syndicate, becoming a feared and ruthless hitman that people describe as "a man of focus, commitment, and sheer will". He was later nicknamed "Baba Yaga", being further described as the man one would send to "kill the Bogeyman". Peace out "mir"
John was retired so I never felt like he had the cops on a payroll. They just knew who he was, had to go make an appearance because there had been calls, and then happily left before getting involved in something way, way beyond their government pay. Lol! It's not like he usually caused trouble. Even if he had, they'd have to bring in the FBI or CIA and I feel like he's even above that.
That one bad guy that he fights after they try to bag his head I think is a head stunt coordinator or something like that. I like when those guys play roles like that in movies. They do a really good job.
Umm, not with other big actors? Point Break with Patrick Swayze, Bram Stoker’s Dracula with Anthony Hopkins, Speed with Dennis Hopper, The Matrix with Laurence Fishburne, John Wick with Willem Dafoe, and The Devil’s Advocate with Al Pacino are just some off the top of my head.
I absolutely love the editing. As Viggo introduces Wick to Iosef and itt cuts to John digging up his past, but at the same time representing how every word he says hits. "A man of focus" *BAM* "Commitment." *BAM* "And sheer will" *BAM* *BAM*
The actor who ‘killed’ the puppy was so upset, he adopted her😊. Keanu worked for months for this movie. Stuntman was used only for the fall over the balcony
John got out of "the business" a little over 5 years ago, if Iosef was around 12-13 years old at the time (assuming he was 18 in this movie). Then there's a good chance that Viggo never told his son about John Wick. Atlantic City may have been Iosef's first "mission", to prove he was an asset to his father. With John out of "The Business", it's possible that people don't bring him up in 'casual' conversation outside of places like The Continental. For anyone who hasn't seen it, check out on RUclips "John Wick Directors React to The Honest Trailer" (watch Wick 1 & 2 first to avoid spoilers) lots of behind the scenes info
25:39 "It's not about money. It's about sending a message." Between this and killing people with a pencil, who else think John Wick's character had a little inspiration from the Joker.
Patriotic Justice: Can you explain how you see that connection? Because it was Never about the money that I could see. Did Viggo offer Wick money that I don't remember? I'm not even sure it's about sending a message, per se. But, maybe I'm wrong
I highly recommend that you go back and see some of the video that has been done on Keanu getting both martial arts and weapons training., in order to prepare for his John Wick films. It will put what you have seen in an entirely New Perspective and just so you know there are two more films already completed, which were excellent and a fourth one being worked on
This is why stuntmen should get more recognition. They just "get it" regarding what makes a good shot or sequence. It was written and directed by two sunt-doubles, one of which was Keanu's main go to earlier in his career. Not that he really needs them anymore, almost everything was Reeves in John Wick. The gunplay, the hand to hand, even most of the driving. He has turned into a legit badass but remains the nicest, most chill dude around. I honestly don't know if the universe could contain the amount of "pure good vibes" if Keanu Reeves and Dave Ghrol were in the same room at the same time.
His back tattoo, "Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat", or, "Fortune Favors the Brave", is the motto of the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, fueling the unconfirmed fan theory that John is a Marine.
That phase dates back before Christ was born. If you watched the other 2 movies, you would know there is very little room for John to have ever been in the Marines.
Reevs learned hand to hand combat with gun play, studied 4 years way before the matrix, he said he wanted the fight scenes too look authenic, do all his stunts give the people what they want.
The puppy actually dragged itself over to lie down next to him. It was injured. It’s last act was to bring itself toward it’s master. An act of love before it died. :(

You beat me to it, sadly. 🐶🐕
The soundtrack for the bathouse/club scene was amazing in my opinion.
The number of kilos, not pounds, the doorman says he lost is the number of guards in the club. The dog he takes at the end was going to be put down the next day so he saved him. 3 with a pencil, just keep watching lol.
Kevin Nash said he "lost 28kg" (unfortunately translated for American audience) - 28 was the total number of guards killed in the "Red Circle."
Sad to say this but the puppy actually crawled to be next to John before she died from her injuries (that's why they show trail of blood leading to John that John cleaned up). 💔
The key count ineach JohnWick movie totals about 139 to nearly200 Gillian’s per movie
If you haven't seen it, you'd like _The Hunt For Red October._ Whatever you've heard about it, it's not what you think.
Love that movie one of my many favorites!
Loving the addition of movie reactions to the channel! :)
Thanks Joe :)
@9:30, no the puppy crawled over to him and expired.
Loved this reaction, you cracked me up! Since you liked this, you gotta see Boondock Saints and the Professional
The priest wasn't a real priest. He was window dressing to make it look like a real church. In reality it was just for Vigo to launder money without drawing attention.
Is that confirmed? Even the real clergy isn’t exactly free from corrupt elements.
@@0okamino it's obvious on his hand. his tattoos looks like a thug would have.
The one of the coolest parts about the entire John Wick franchise is that every dialogue is impactful and balanced. When there's dialogue, there aren't too many or too little words.
The dying puppy dragged itself to John- it was the last thing John loved and the last thing that loved John!John is after justice and revenge.
that song playing when iosef and his friends pull up to the gas station is comically on-brand. every time i see that scene i can't help but chuckle lol. loved your reaction, this is one of my favourite series. highly recommend continuing the series as the 4th movie is expected to be released next year.
Especially since, the way things went, they did not “get dat money”.
Haha
The impossible task that he assigned John in order to leave was that he had to kill off all the other mob bosses......in one night.
@@amit_patel654 Exactly!
I'm glad Kabir considered watching movies. Can't wait to see what's next!
Head shots have an amazing ability of settling a person down very quickly
I remember in interviews, they film makers said they chose to kill off the dog (the real one is just fine and still adorable) because it would trigger the audience into giving John (and the movie) free reign to do what ever he (they) felt necessary for revenge. They're basically saying that no one hurts doggos and gets away with it.
Edit:
The main reason (in my mind) that this movie's action scenes feel so real is because the director rand lead film makers are all stunt performers. If I recall, the director has even doubled Keanu in the past, which is how they met.
You should check out the rest of the franchise plus maybe check out a film called Law Abiding Citizen staring Gérard Butler 👍
Kabir, the dog crawled over to him...look at the blood trail
2014 was a good year for movies, guardians of the galaxy, the equalizer, and John wick
yes 3 very good movies. nothing new comes close
First time?! Well finally lol my favorite aspect of this movie is how instead of the villain being put on a pedestal, it's the opposite. As if John wick is the obstacle in the movie. Fun fact, the guy who made the movie is actually a stunt performer. Which is why the stunts are so well done
Gotta watch the sequel now. I don't like the third as much but the sequel is truly a good sequel
And since you asked, the movie was filmed in new york
the Jon Wick house is out here on Long Island in a very exclusive town called Mill Neck..
What movie was he in with Kurt Russell?
need to watch before commenting lol the dog crawled to him you can see the blood trail
They didn't put the puppy in front of him. The blood trail suggests the mortally wounded puppy made his way over there to die with his friend.
cshubs: Her. The puppy's name was Daisy, remember?
John Wick spared Francis at The Red Circle in exchange for a target count in the club. Francis had not lost 28 kilos, there were 28 targets in the nightclub.
You can see videos on RUclips if Keanu doing live fire range training.
As you will read, best human on this planet, kind, genius, still catches trains, buses, gives to homeless, he's an angel
The shotgun was a Kel-Tec KSG when Wick stopped Viggo from getting away.
Yes, Francis is played by Kevin "Diesel" Nash.
Interestingly, that "enemy" in the beginning turns out to be a friend.
The dog actually crawls to him as you can see by the blood trail on the ground.
None can resist the power of the puppy!
it was the one that pulled the gun at the car shop right
@@lucas.2.3.9.4 I'm pretty sure that's the one.
Keanu can really shoot that good in real life, just like his long time martial art practitioning. Please check out his video of him and Halle Berry shooting at a famous trainer for the movies target range.
That video is absolutely amazing. His gun skills are amazing! Halle Berry ain't no slouch either.
The trainer is Taran Butler of Taran Tactical and yea, Keanu has some serious skills
@@johnnusz8278 thanks for the info, it slipped my mind....lol.
Always love those revenge after messing with the wrong dude movies. That's why I loved the "Dirty Harry" franchise as a kid.
I had to fast forward thru the dog scene, I love this movie but I can't watch that again...great reaction!
That was awesome because it was like I was sharing one of my favorite movies with a friend! Great reaction bud!
I thought the pup crawled to him then died.
I've been watching for 8 months and I say keep reacting to movies, it'll propel your channel even more than regular videos imo.
better late than never!
That one bad guy that he fights after they try to bag his head I think is a head stunt coordinator or something like that. I like when those guys play roles like that in movies. They do a really good job.
in my top 5 all time films, thus why I am still looking up reactions still
Yes! One of my favorite movies of all time, especially when I'm in a bad mood and need a kick in the cranky pants.
And Jack Nicholson in Something's Gotta Give
Great set of movies you'll love it!
I love the fact that Viggo"s attorney is played by Dean Winters, the guy that plays Mayhem in the hilarious Allstste commercials.
Bro...your reaction vids are the best Kabir
The wrestler/actors u r talking bout is Kevin Nash.
I absolutely love the editing. As Viggo introduces Wick to Iosef and itt cuts to John digging up his past, but at the same time representing how every word he says hits. "A man of focus" *BAM* "Commitment." *BAM* "And sheer will" *BAM* *BAM*
You’ve got to see all 4 movies. Their fantastic.
This was the director's first time directing. He started out a stuntman, then started coordinating stunts for movies and then moved to directing.
For anyone who hasn't seen it, check out on RUclips "John Wick Directors React to The Honest Trailer" (watch Wick 1 & 2 first to avoid spoilers) lots of behind the scenes info
he trained for like 6 months before shooting to work on combat arts for fight scences and kept it up after the film into next ones
The commentary for the vid on amazon said the fight sequence in the Red Circle ...Keanu learned that day and was really sick too,he is legend
25:39 "It's not about money. It's about sending a message."
Between this and killing people with a pencil, who else think John Wick's character had a little inspiration from the Joker.
not me. bs
Patriotic Justice: Can you explain how you see that connection? Because it was Never about the money that I could see. Did Viggo offer Wick money that I don't remember? I'm not even sure it's about sending a message, per se. But, maybe I'm wrong
Keanu acts right alongside Al Pacino in The Devil’s Advocate.
Also this movie was directed by Chad Stahelski, who was Keanu's stunt double for the Matrix movies.
Thank you for such a fantastic reaction! Made me love this film all over again.
I love that you do movie reactions now as well. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Chris :) it was about time I started!
I love that you’re now reacting to movies!
The wrestler you was talking about was Kevin Nash
Reevs learned hand to hand combat with gun play, studied 4 years way before the matrix, he said he wanted the fight scenes too look authenic, do all his stunts give the people what they want.
NYC. That is an old bank downtown. I know someone who had a wedding there.
Outside shots was a former client's house in the Hamptons.
Love the soundtrack too.
Love the movie reaction take your doing ..way to bring up the viewers brudda
HELLS YES!!! 🖤
Great reaction...can't wait for 2 and 3 reactions
Love this bloke! I could sit with him and have a Wick-thin and make popcorn! Love seeing first reaction! Can’t wait til 4 comes out! Cheers mate!
He does not need anyone else. I love John Wick
