Oh man, I played this when I was too young to properly understand what I was playing and this really kicks me in the nostalgia. I remember small parts of this but this video puts the pieces together again xD
I’ve been trying to find this game for years. I had a heart transplant at 12 weeks old. I had to go to Pittsburgh for my heart biopsy every year. We stayed at the Ronald McDonald house and they had a Nintendo 64 and this game. I’ve had trouble finding this exact one because there are so many Gex games. But after watching some of this I think this is the one I played at the Ronald McDonald house on the 64. I want to buy a 64 and get this fame, for the nostalgia, yes, but I truly did LOVE this game. It would bring back so many happy memories if I could get a Nintendo 64 and just this game.
I'll never understand why the Greek level is completely different from the PS1 version, but this version of that level is less painful so I won't complain.
@@JackBandicootsBunker n64 was gonna have unique levels for its version beanstalk> red riding in the hood, lizard of oz/wrestling >some jaws boss. I hope another prototype comes out with some more n64 cut levels.
Im a robot hear me roar love the place where you have robot armor also this one is one of the best 64 era. Needs a remake for sure to bring this lizard back from the past. Hay if Turok made it wgy not Gex whos with me on this.
Hi! is it being played on an emulator or the original hardware? I got it for my n64 but its running with a lot of slowdown, the framerate here looks quite good and fast, im thinking it might be that I dont have the expansion pak, do you think it is the case?
It depends on the version of the game. The voice actor in the America version is Dana Gould and the voice actor in the United Kingdom version is Danny John-Jules.
There are two versions of the game, one is the PlayStation version and the other is the Nintendo 64 version. I will write you the differences. While the story is still largely the same, the sexual innuendos and exchanges between Gex and Agent Xtra were removed from the Nintendo 64 version. Cutscenes was removed from Nintendo 64 version. However, the cutscenes that remained were rendered in-game. Instead of playing a pre-rendered cutscene, Gex's model would stand still place and perform unique animations exclusive to the Nintendo 64 version. The final cutscene of the Nintendo 64 version also differed greatly from the PlayStation version. Instead of the more sexually suggestive cutscene featured in the PlayStation's ending, the Nintendo 64 ending featured Alfred talking to the player and congratulating them on completing the game. It also informs the player that Gex and Xtra got married and went on a honeymoon cruise. This was due to the console being more child friendly and the memory limitations of the Nintendo 64 cartridge. The collectibles also have lower texture quality for the Nintendo 64 version. Then there are things that could be called as neutral points. The Mythology Network is completely changed in the Nintendo 64 version. The PlayStation version takes place in Mount Olympus, while the Nintendo 64 version takes place in the Underworld or Hades. Gex wears a toga and leaf crown in the PlayStation version and a gladiator outfit in the Nintendo 64 version. It is speculated that the level was changed due to the PlayStation rendition being too difficult for the mostly younger Nintendo 64 player base. The PlayStation version has the secret levels Dial A For Arson and Brave Heartless, for Nintendo 64 version these secret levels were replaced the secret levels by the Peg Leg Polka and Temple Of Gloom. The reason for replacing of these levels is unknown. However, this is possibly due to some of the more graphical elements of the PlayStation levels, Dial A For Arson featured a dead body outlined in chalk and Braveheartless featured several skeletons. Also in the case of Braveheartless, it was based on a PlayStation exclusive title. The name of the game is Akuji The Heartless. So it's possible that this aspect may have further contributed to its omission from the Nintendo 64 version. Summary: The PlayStation version is better, but even Nintendo 64 version has its charms, it is all, have a nice day.
@@seekingfreedom9020 I have both versions of the game. This is definitely the N64 version in the video here. Just look at the ancient greek stage, the way its set up in the lava was definitely on N64. The PS1 version of the stage was completely different and set in the sky .

It’s so hard to pick my fav Gex game out of Enter the Gecko and 3, but I think 3 gets a slight edge because the difficulty of certain levels got increased and the level designs and the themes were better/improved from the 2nd game and the secrets felt more satisfying to obtain.
This game will always have a special place in my heart.
NB looking back at it there was a lot of adult humor 😂

Oh how I miss those childhood days 😢
The hours I used to spend on this game as a kid! so weird seeing this again after all this time, must be 20 years ago or so now since I played it.

Crystal Dynamics thought that because of the lower age of the average N64 player, that they wouldn’t cope with the difficulties of the original level.
@Chaz Starkey That we all know, but I’m neither Crystal Dynamics nor Eidos.

I might be wrong, but the greek stage on N64 looks much easier. Also that ending with Alfred talking omg 🤣🤣
The penguin voice clip was reused in one of Harvest Moon DS game as chicken voice clip.
wow, i didn't know about difference psx and nin64 versions - exclusive locations in Greek reference
Thanks for this, I miss his quotes
Best memories of my childhood

Lock and load, little lizard!
It’s tail time!
27:41 does that say lake flaccid on the very top of the screen?
The ice planet hoth the rebels are there. He says that on the playstation and the Nintendo 64 version. 21:48
Thanks for the random star wars gex. That was sweet of that.
I have this game(;
Wow they have the screen fmv intact. That's actually impressive

It was played on an emulator and I do think that using the expansion pak should keep the framerate nice and fast.
the game doesn't use the expansion pak.
5:00:00 Holy shit! That level takes 21 minutes to beat!
My N64 copy had a different voice for Gex

they changed a lot the mythological level in ps1, both are difficult to play, but for me the superzeroes is a level that is more hard.
A couple weeks ago I was able to complete the PS1 version of this game
Bean Stalker is a level that helped cultivate my first rage quit. 😄

Recuerdo que nunca pude pasarlo porque no podía guardar la partida u_u
This game got horrendously low scored in magazines when it was released. N64 magazine gave it 26%! Is it really THAT bad?

N64.
