sadly, it doesnt seem like collectathon games have a market at all. Yooka laylee is a good example of a recent collectathon and did not meet expectations. Even the Spyro trilogy remaster thingy was a flash in a pan and now not many people care about it. I've tried going back and playing collectathons now that I am an adult too and they definitely are no where near as fun as they used to be

i could pass the crash bandicoot games because they were linear and i would get to the end of the level eventually, but in here sometimes i didnt know what to do or where to go, i think i managed to get to most levels by pure luck, but it was incredibly hard, specially when i didnt know english so everything i did was by testing and getting used to the controls and what you could do with them, i still have aaaaa lot of nostalgia for this game, its so "90s" with all the outdated jokes and colors and cartoon goofiness, god i wish i could go back to these better times.

I haven’t played Gex in a while but I remember playing 2 and 3 so much as a kid. In 2 my favorite levels were toon tv, pre historic tv, and scream tv but when I was a kid the scream channels really freaked me out lol. I haven’t gotten through a lot of 3’s channels but like the western channel, Christmas channel, and mystery channel. But the Christmas and toon channels really have the most nostalgia to me because they were the first channels you go to.

This game is cool. I have this game. I could never close with 100% of the game. I find it very difficult to get all the "butterflies" at all stages. Gex 3 was a good step up from Enter the Gecko in terms of ironing out the technical and gameplay issues. But Deep Cover Gecko sadly suffers from really obnoxious level design once you're about halfway done clearing out Lake Flaccid. The increased variety of stage themes was nice, but there's still a lot of copy and pasted elements that they fall upon reusing. Plus the consequence of ditching the three tier "coins" in favor of providing exactly a hundred per stage only makes the game turn into an even more tedious collect-a-thon. The previous game had the polar opposite issue of being way too generous, and if you know what you're doing, you can end up with like over fifty lives rather easily. Gex is VERY talkative in this game too, more so than he ever was before. I recall that on the N64 port for some reason when he says a line the songs in the background fade in and out of volume. It made it really annoying and while that issue doesn't seem to exist on the PS1 version, I end up having to mute poor ol' Gex to keep my sanity. I hope with the remastered trilogy coming out soon, they give the games a lot of QOL updates that they desperately need. For the third game, I'd say not having your collectibles reset when you exit or die in a world would make a big difference. Plus an option to have Gex's dialogue play in an not-as-sporadic rate.

This game is cool. I have this game. I could never close with 100% of the game. I find it very difficult to get all the "butterflies" at all stages. The second secret bonus has a background music that neither of the game akuji the heartless.

Gex 3 was a good step up from Enter the Gecko in terms of ironing out the technical and gameplay issues. But Deep Cover Gecko sadly suffers from really obnoxious level design once you're about halfway done clearing out Lake Flaccid. The increased variety of stage themes was nice, but there's still a lot of copy and pasted elements that they fall upon reusing.
Plus the consequence of ditching the three tier "coins" in favor of providing exactly a hundred per stage only makes the game turn into an even more tedious collect-a-thon. The previous game had the polar opposite issue of being way too generous, and if you know what you're doing, you can end up with like over fifty lives rather easily.
Gex is VERY talkative in this game too, more so than he ever was before. I recall that on the N64 port for some reason when he says a line the songs in the background fade in and out of volume. It made it really annoying and while that issue doesn't seem to exist on the PS1 version, I end up having to mute poor ol' Gex to keep my sanity.
I hope with the remastered trilogy coming out soon, they give the games a lot of QOL updates that they desperately need. For the third game, I'd say not having your collectibles reset when you exit or die in a world would make a big difference. Plus an option to have Gex's dialogue play in an not-as-sporadic rate.
