Here's a fun little detail that most people miss, when you become more human (ie lie a lot, listen to the records) P starts breathing and having more "human" like animations, grunting when attacking and gasping/exhalingfor air when dying, he also gets an actual dying animation instead of locking up and falling to the ground Edit i also forgot, if you stand under the Hotel Krat Stargazer and look at your shadow youll see the size of your nose
Another one: early on in the game you can hear his springs and gears winding up when charging a heavy, this is eventually replace with the aforementioned.
Honestly, to me, Lies of P has completely revolutionized the soulslike genre with what it has going for it. I think from now on we don't call games soulslikes, I think we should say that these games have a P'ness.
It does sound like a great time, at least mechanics wise. Gonna be honest, after playing Nioh 2, I can't play any FromSoft Souls game anymore because they all feel so horribly bad to play, for a myriad of reasons, like the horrible controls, no real accessability options, design decisions that make me question just what were they smoking... I'm interested in giving Lies of P a try to see what it's like, though its a shame that the story is a let down.
Dude after Ng+2-3 your character is so fuckin op it is insane. Literally no Weight-Cap and you can heal half your life with one punch. On top of that, the gameplay is that great that you got it mastered once you get into the higher ng+ playthroughs, leading to you not getting hit that much
@@maximilianschaak7555I love Lies of P I just finished the game 2 weeks ago and I honestly want to play it again in ng+ but do you think it's worth it because when I find out about the fact that the bosses gets more health on top of that they do more damage it threw me off to the point I heard people getting one shotted by the likes of Laxusias, Simon, and the nameless puppet also complaining about ng+ is harder then your first gameplay and honestly I am not that good at game when it comes to parrying so what do you think ? I honestly wish the developers would've made the bosses in ng+ have more health but their damage stays the same that way one can learn their movements better and perfect the parrying mechanic
i didin't expect tbh. grimm's fairytail being a great source material adaptation for a souls game, and its genuinely brilliant, since its settings and theme fits the genre.
13:28 It is indeed a strange Korean translation. From what I understand, the Korean word for blood starts with a “pee” sound and hence P-Organ and Lies of P are both puns about Blood and Pinocchio/Puppet.
Bricky forgot to mention that not only does the handle alter scaling, it determines your moveset. You can put the biggest fucking hammer in the game onto a knife handle and try to stab people with it
@@cupcaketv5673 it's not very effective as you might be able to guess but you can do some fun things. All weapon heads have multiple kinda of damage scaling on them as well based on what attack move was done, so a sword usually has better slashing than stabbing.
I put the head of the shock club on the winter rapier hilt to make a taser. Honestly it was effective at what it did. At least in the early game (just started first run) the damage sucked but the stance and status build were both things of beauty. Much like I'd imagine the experience of tasering people to death would be. I've currently settled for a great sword blade on wintery hilt and the saber hilt with the shock head.
In regards for the way dodging vs parry is handled, I find that they're a lot closer in terms of viability. Certain bosses favor parry(mad clown puppet) and certain bosses favor dodge(walker of illusions). I spent hours on walker of illusions trying to parry everything, and when I purposefully started dodging basically everything, I killed it in 3 attempts.
Same, i honestly bad at souls games (my fav one is sekiro), but when i realized if i shouol dodge or parry the game changed by alot, it was WAY WAY easier. and i played before the nerfs

Fun fact about the Throwables in lies of P (spoiler warning ahead.) The games speedrun fights the final boss, the ultra serious Simon Manus, the new god, mr reach out and touch space himself, almost entirely by throwing shot puts at him.
@@Ashtarte3D Thats because unlike other souls games, the throwables here actually scale properly and remain useful. What the game is good at. That being said, i still think the nerfs were just too much for the game. What is worse they tuned up the little summon spirit thing by so much that if any new player uses it, any boss will be nothing. Bosses need to be dialed up and the phantom dialed down a bit.
As a baby souls gamer, I found Lies of P a great gateway into soulslikes and Fromsoft games in general. It felt difficult, yes, but also very forgiving. The consumables were always useful in a pinch, leaving your ergo outside the boss doors instead of in the arena itself was a HUGE boost, the runbacks were never too bad, and even the spectre was lifesaving for some difficult bosses without making the fight feel too easy or steamrolled. I actually really enjoyed summoning the spectre for both Brotherhood fights, it quickly turns the whole thing into a hectic brawl that I found super fun.
I played it a few months ago, and i needed 40 or 50 trys for the King of Puppets. I had a relatively slow weapon, and if i missed a parry, i was nearly dead. That was one of the best fights ever and so much fun to perfect it.
I am physically unable to go back into the parrying system of the Souls games after LoP. It's probably the single most satisfying parry I've ever experienced. Also I'm shocked that not a single point was made about the SOUNDTRACK OH MY GOD IT'S EXQUISITE.
VERY TRUE! Just finished it myself as well, and my only real complaint was a multi-boss near the end of the game. I may not be much of a parry person, but Lies of P was fucking phenomenal
Easily in my favourite games of last year list, I'm so glad more people are talking about it. It's amazing that this is the dev team's first real game Something this game does that seems minor when you just hear it, is that if you die on a boss, your Ergo (souls/Blood Echoes equivalent) are dropped outside the fog gate rather than where you died in the arena. It makes such a massive difference in the run backs to not have to worry about having to dodge the boss to get your stuff back before focusing on fighting them again Edit: Also, yeah, Technique builds are generally really good in this game. A lot of the encounters really lean towards getting in lots of little hits to build up more stagger and stop the enemies from regenerating health (because they have their own rally ability) rather than having to either risk parries or wait for an opening big enough for the chonkbeast slow weapons to be able to finish a swing, especially since some of the later bosses really don't care to give you that much breathing room.
If Lies of Poo has more areas like Rosa Isabella street or tries their hand at a Dark Souls 1 like map or just tries to incorporate more big moments it has a reasonable chance to make the greatest Souls game.

You still gotta play Midnight Suns, it is the most surprisingly good game I've ever played. Easily 100+ hours can be spent in it and its just amazing in gameplay and story
YES. PUT RESPECT ON ITS NAME. For real bro the gameplay systems were on a whole nother level. Ive never felt the urge to mod elements from Sekiro or Bloodborne into other games....but holy shit i want to put all this into Elden Ring.
I have an opposite perspective to you, as someone who's never played a soulslike before Lies of P. I recently upgraded my laptop to one that can Actually Run Games Properly, and when this game was on the stream summer sale, I jumped at my chance. I've seen streams of Lies of P and many other soulslikes over the years and was worried about a Skill Issue stopping me from getting very far from what i had seen. But Lies of P's pacing and mechanic introductions are so good... even a baby gamer like me is improving and it feels incredible!!!! The game is a wonderful teacher and I'm having a blast so far :D
I admit I struggled in some boss fights, but I also admit I failed to parry most of the time. I still beat it and I still enjoyed it immensely. Also Bricky, if you found it it easy try the NG+ mode it might even things out and make the bosses more difficult for you, it also has some cool extra lore pieces not found in the first play through, especially against Romeo.
A lot of people don't know this, but the 2 subsequent playthrought adds more perks to the perk tree and also increases the difficulty. If you've only played it one, i recommend playing it again as new game plus!
I think you're the only person I've seen reference Happy Souls since it came out, and I just want to personally thank you for doing that. That video lives in my soul
I played this game on release with a strength build, i love the huge weapons thing. This game was very difficult on release with a strength build IMO. I havent played it a second time yet but still.
This video popped up on my homepage. I like the structure and style of your video it’s almost like a news channel for games but the style is similar to the weather presenters haha. Im currently back in Krat after a random earthquake. The last boss i fought was that swamp-monster. For my first Souls-Like this game, it epitomises art in video games.
I have played many soulslikes. Non of them seems to scratch that itch that only a FromSoft game can. Lies of P is the only non-From soulslike that I would consider to be great, and up there with the genre makers.
I did a STR/arcane build and I breezed through the bosses pretty quickly as well, although Walker of Illusions really gave me a hard time. Loved the game and am looking forward to what they do next.
Y’know, seeing Nioh and Nioh 2 in the beginning gave me a warm smile, it was the first game in the soulsborn genre I completed and made me appreciate all the other games that had this formula.
If you wanna check out a soulslike from a little while ago, I recommend checking out The Surge (at minimum the first game and the DLCs, but also the second if you want, however the first is better). There is no difficulty slider, it rewards killing bosses in specific alternate (usually tougher) ways, you cut the limbs off enemies to get components/gear, and it’s a science-fiction title rather than a fantasy one as you’d usually see.
I played through it on release before any patches with a heavy weapon build and it was the first souls like where I would not finish it if I did not use phantoms. There are many great mechanics that I wish other souls games had and I could really see all the effort put into it, but, at least on release, bosses were just tedious. Most of them had 2 giant healthbars that between my slow weapon and bosses constantly dashing around took just soo long to get through. It came to a point where I could perfect parry through the full first phase of every boss and it still took me 3 or more minutes to get to the second phase, which sometimes is a completely different boss with a new moveset. From what I remember, the King of Puppets was the biggest offender in this regard, and my personal breaking point.
Warning, disturbing fact ahead, only roll out this comment if you have the guts to face an ugly reality. Laxasia only has 5 entries on rule34, 2 of them are the same artwork, so she only has 4 pieces.
Disagree: The Surge (Part 1) is peak soulslike imo. Great spin on the genre -„Souls“ multiplier if you don’t rest -armored/unarmored body part target system -armor stripping mechanic -generell upgrade system -special boss weapons if you beat them a certain way (like DS1)
First souls like I have actually picked up and am playing through and taking my time playing it and learning it, (I literally started it last night and I'm on act 2) and I'm enjoying my time with it
Bricky get out of my head. The last few videos have been games ive fallen in love with OR games i was interested in then you drop a video and voila. New favorite game. Thanks again
Doing a new game+ run, bosses definitely get a lot harder and there are even more progression options in terms of the piss organ skill tree, unlockables (such as a delicious soundtrack of vinyl collectibles), and special weapons. Bought the deluxe edition pre-order because the artstyle hooked me instantly but I was so blown away by just playing, it was 100% my game of the year for 2023
The game at launch was brutal in difficulty. Especially Simon manus. He had roughly 25 percent more health on first phase, and his damage was a lot higher(his 3 swing combo would just kill your)
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, they not only nerfed some bosses but also greatly buffed the player’s weapons. You used to hit like a wet noodle, and boss weapons were exceptionally bad on release lol. But they slowly got scaled up to not unbearable levels
In response to the game’s difficulty. You did actually break the game with acid. It’s 100% OP and combined with being a dex build, you specifically shaped your experience to be easy….doing a strength build will change your mind
Note - if you use crit dmg amulet, spear from bishop boss and max out your shield arm, have decent stamina / legion arm energy capacity, you can basically just shield & poke thru almost any challenge, it's actually insane lol
great points about the strengths of this game! was my first of the genre, and i loved it so much it inspired me to play more like it but as a note about difficulty... i think it really is just you being overexperienced with these sorts of games; many bosses took me dozens of tries in my first run through P, but after mastering that game and moving on to sekiro, i found sekiro much easier than the average person seems to have, as they typically played sekiro first, many years ago. for example, i beat guardian ape first try (both phases), while i notice that you seem to have struggled on that boss quite a bit so basically, i don't think that P is too easy; i think it's just about perfect in terms of difficulty, but you may've played so much in this genre that you're just really good at these games at this point
It definitely depends on how much souls experience you have, I've played Elden and Bloodborne (currently trying to get the plat for that, 11 trophies away) and I have had no trouble with the bosses so far granted I am currently at the archbishop's chapel rn
I tried getting into the soulslike genre with elden ring, but it was just too deep of a plunge. Lies of P however has thus far proven an excellent entry point. Having all the trappings of the genre, but being significantly friendlier to its player than the rest with a very consistent and gradual ramp up in difficulty. Also: Holy F is this game optimized. My 7y old geriatric rig reached 90fps at 1440p consistently with no laggy frames at high quality!
Honestly I really love that you can swap parts of certain weapons with unique skills to craft a powerful weapon though it’s a shame boss weapons can’t be taken apart.🐱
Best soulslike gameplay? Alright, I officially NEED you to play Nioh 2. Fuck Nioh 1, fuck Wo Long, play Nioh 2. It is genuinely, in terms of sheer gameplay, the best soulslike on the market. I absolutely adored Lies of P, don't get me wrong, but nothing has topped the in-depth gameplay of Nioh 2 for me.
I love that you said you did a dex build because you felt it would suit the game better... I remember the stream Bricky.. You did a twink build for the twink game. We didn't forget.
I wonder what this man would think of Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. It's a prequel in the Zeno Clash series but with camera changed to a GOW 2018 perspective, some Souls-ish elements, and gameplay akin to Sifu, Absolver or God Hand where focus is on finding and customizing your own martial arts style. Set in an awesome and colorful monsterworld, too.

Congrats on surpassing 1 million subs Bricky! Glad to see your quality content is reaching more people!
I’m here for the information bricky can provide to my small and feeble brain.

21:50 AC6
I got the baton from the big guy just before the Mad Donkey and I used that handle for the entire game while changing the blade cause I loved the moveset THAT much
You still gotta play Midnight Suns, it is the most surprisingly good game I've ever played.
God I love that you put pontyff saltivahn in this vid, must be my favorite bricky-bossfight
Oh Bricky, 1,000,000 subs Bricky. (Congrats btw you’ve earned it), where’s the mass effect review Bricky, where’s the Garrus, my beloved, Bricky.
A funny way to spell jack there.
I appreciate the fire emblem awakening deployment music during explanation of handles and blades :)
This game in my opinion was better then most software games I played and think it stands on it's own.
You left the King of Puppets/Romeo off your boss death list. Must have died to him 100 times. I beat every boss on the first try while blindfolded.
I did a STR/arcane build and I breezed through the bosses pretty quickly as well, although Walker of Illusions really gave me a hard time. Loved the game and am looking forward to what they do next.
"Might be the best gank fight I've ever played" is a kick-ass review for a kick-ass game 🤘
Y’know, seeing Nioh and Nioh 2 in the beginning gave me a warm smile, it was the first game in the soulsborn genre I completed and made me appreciate all the other games that had this formula.
*Lies of P being the only souls like i can progress in*
bricky: this game needs to be harder
me: don't do this to me...
Surge 1 is ass.
Worst thing about it is the linear map design, no branching at all. Still great game
That “I’ve got *BOSS WEAPONS* “ was so nostalgic…
Like the mic settings :D
this game has been on my backlog for awhile. been nervous about getting into it but this review gives me confidence to try it out.
Lies of P's combat system is what I genuinely thought Elden RIng was going to have, after Sekiro.
When you learn a boss enough, it's like you can predict their movements, their plans, their very future... almost like the LISAN AL-GAIB
6:24 Never thought I’d see the day where Paper Mario music is used as background music for talking about soulslikes.
Disagree: The Surge (Part 1) is peak soulslike imo. Great spin on the genre
-„Souls“ multiplier if you don’t rest
-armored/unarmored body part target system
-armor stripping mechanic
-generell upgrade system
-special boss weapons if you beat them a certain way (like DS1)
First souls like I have actually picked up and am playing through and taking my time playing it and learning it, (I literally started it last night and I'm on act 2) and I'm enjoying my time with it
"...spend my souls when I could."
Me: "Shouldn't it be lies or something?"
Bricky get out of my head.
The last few videos have been games ive fallen in love with OR games i was interested in then you drop a video and voila.
New favorite game. Thanks again
Lies of P is the second best soulslike I've ever played!
That Happy Souls Reference into the clip cracked me up!💀
Doing a new game+ run, bosses definitely get a lot harder and there are even more progression options in terms of the piss organ skill tree, unlockables (such as a delicious soundtrack of vinyl collectibles), and special weapons. Bought the deluxe edition pre-order because the artstyle hooked me instantly but I was so blown away by just playing, it was 100% my game of the year for 2023
The game at launch was brutal in difficulty. Especially Simon manus. He had roughly 25 percent more health on first phase, and his damage was a lot higher(his 3 swing combo would just kill your)
I forgot this game was a thing. It actually looks really, really cool. I'll have to get this at some point.
Just finished the game last night. It is, indeed, really, really cool. I had a blast.
This is just the video I need to help me activate my P-organ! Thank you Bricky
Alright, the brickle seal has swayed me. I'll pick this one up and play it.
YES! God I love Lies of P, I’m so happy you made a video on it.
Note - if you use crit dmg amulet, spear from bishop boss and max out your shield arm, have decent stamina / legion arm energy capacity, you can basically just shield & poke thru almost any challenge, it's actually insane lol
great points about the strengths of this game! was my first of the genre, and i loved it so much it inspired me to play more like it
but as a note about difficulty... i think it really is just you being overexperienced with these sorts of games; many bosses took me dozens of tries in my first run through P, but after mastering that game and moving on to sekiro, i found sekiro much easier than the average person seems to have, as they typically played sekiro first, many years ago. for example, i beat guardian ape first try (both phases), while i notice that you seem to have struggled on that boss quite a bit
so basically, i don't think that P is too easy; i think it's just about perfect in terms of difficulty, but you may've played so much in this genre that you're just really good at these games at this point
It definitely depends on how much souls experience you have, I've played Elden and Bloodborne (currently trying to get the plat for that, 11 trophies away) and I have had no trouble with the bosses so far granted I am currently at the archbishop's chapel rn
Glad I played this during my month gamepass trial, still need to buy it to finish that last ending tho
I love how they took the rabbits with the coffin from the original story and turned into a boss fight!
Honestly I really love that you can swap parts of certain weapons with unique skills to craft a powerful weapon though it’s a shame boss weapons can’t be taken apart.🐱
Boss weapons? Yes right down the road😅 loved that you included that. One of the best souls animations ever made. Gotta love the happy souls
Bricky you forgot to mention the music, the music is amazing! also love your videos dude
That intro was simply spectacular, well done!
Bricky forgot to mention the banger music
Best soulslike gameplay? Alright, I officially NEED you to play Nioh 2. Fuck Nioh 1, fuck Wo Long, play Nioh 2. It is genuinely, in terms of sheer gameplay, the best soulslike on the market.
I absolutely adored Lies of P, don't get me wrong, but nothing has topped the in-depth gameplay of Nioh 2 for me.
I love that you said you did a dex build because you felt it would suit the game better... I remember the stream Bricky.. You did a twink build for the twink game. We didn't forget.
Brichard B Brickles when the box says wireless microphone it means the transmitter not the microphone itself.
Idk why but the editing of blade and the little hit of the rave music from the movie made me laugh lol great job
100% going in to my wishlist, once I get a computer I’ll try it out, thanks Bricky
