I am becoming a first time mom this month and I also work as a post partum nurse! I would definitely recommend bringing a pair of old navy flip flops (preferrably a dark colour). They are cheap and you can discard of them after you leave the hospital. I say this because I help moms get out of bed for the first time after delivery and there is usually moderate-heavy bleeding and blood dripping down their legs on to their cute fluffy white slippers and they are stuck wearing them stained for the rest of the visit :( I usually ask the mothers if they brought anything else to wear regarding footwear for their first time getting out of bed, and the answer is usually no :( so I would really recommend a dar pair of old navy flip flops that are easy to wipe clean!

I think a lot of woman bring their own blanket. Guess we're all a little boujee. Lol
It's a good idea lol but buy a new one for your bed and take the old on to hospital so u can throw it out when done and come home to new set 😏
Another good idea is to get Jared to pack your bag up so he knows where everything is when you get there. As he’s the one that will be finding things for u when you’re in labour . Yeah I would say there’s no point learning about breastfeeding before hand, it’s like learning to drive but not actually getting in a car! X
I packed my husbands bag and typed up what was in it, and put it in the bag. So he wouldnt have to ask me if we had someting lol!

“Be cozy with my newborn and my husband” 😭😭😭😭😭😍😍😍😍😍 some of my BEST moments were those nights in hospital just the three of us. Enjoy every second. I brought my own blanket and pillow as well and I lived in fuzzy socks and my nightgown and light robe the whole time I was there. Oh yeah...and DEPENDS FOR THE WIN! I wore them for the entire first week 😂😂

I would highly recommend a second bra. After I laboured for 24 hours there was nothing that I wanted more than a shower and clean clothes 🙂

I am so excited for you. Having a baby it is so precious and it is a different love you never experience before. I had my baby in March and let me tell you the hospital provides a lot of stuff, but it is good to be prepare.
Nothing in the world beats the old lady full zip up gowns! Seriously! Especially for a c section. Made my life so much easier. I used them the first few weeks at home too. Trust me guys. This is solid advice.

This is soooo exciting , so excited to see the baby’s tiny little cute face! Let Jared pack everything for you , you might have little stress if he does, because honestly you need to be mentally ready for delivery so have someone else to do all these!
Another thing to pack is mini presents for the nurses. I went to Bath and Body Works and bought mini Hand Creams, Hand Sanitizers and added dove chocolates. Bath and body works wrapped them for me and I had a present for all the nurses that helped me throughout the entire day I was in labor. I had five nurses helping because they would take turns and they loveeeddd it. Something so small but it was very much appreciate it. I went in at 5am and my baby girl was born that night at 10:24pm.

You might want to bring an empty bag (I really like the big reusable ones from Marshall’s) because the hospital will give you so much stuff lol. So excited for you guys💕

So excited for you! I think the biggest thing, which you already covered, is to bring a ton of snacks! I didn't even think about it when I went into labor and had my baby at 10:48 pm and the hospital kitchen was closed, so I was stuck with vending machine fruit snacks and a random granola bar from my mom's purse till morning LOL. Everything else is really dependent on what would make you feel happy and comfortable. I honestly didn't use anything I packed outside of face/body wash and the clothes my baby and I wore home.

YES bring what makes you happy!! I'm an L&D nurse and so many people say they wish they had brought certain things. If you sleep with a stuffed animal every night, BRING IT, if you love your sound machine, BRING IT! I've had a mom bring her own curtains bc they make her happy and I thought it was so cute and made me wish I could put them up in every room in the hospital!!

I hope you don’t ruin your comforter. Between leaking milk and postpartum bleeding, it is messy the first few weeks. Also, I’m not sure if your hospital will let you drink or eat while in labor. Most don’t, FYI. I also made my own popsicles, as that was the only “liquid” I was allowed. That was my favorite thing I brought for both of my boys. You’ll find recipes for laboraid. I followed that and just froze it

I love Happ I have the backpack and it’s a great bag. I recommend a phone charger like the 10 ft one that was my number one used item. For baby bring cute blankets bc in my case none of the outfits besides the coming home outfit were used bc they were constantly checking on the baby. Wishing you all the best!

I agree....bring your Boppy Pillow!! It makes breastfeeding so much easier and it makes sense to start using it as soon as the baby is born! And ya dry shampoo was a saving grace especially after a c-section. I brought a toiletries organizer and hung it on the back of the door in the bathroom!
Also bring some milk pads especially if your bringing only one bra. It’s going to get dirty. My milk came in so fast and I was leaking everywhere. Not too comfortable.
Hi Sam, just a wanted to say that my mom told me that when she was in labor with me, she didn't even know I was born, I just slid right out. I was her first baby, and I really believe that happens with a lot of women, it'll be a breeze for you! So excited for you. I really appreciate your research and your sharing, I've learned so much! Aww I’m so excited for you! One of my best friends is due really soon and I just told her to bring a pair of disposable flip flops for when you take a shower at the hospital. I don’t know why, but I just couldn’t stand in the shower barefoot. I used these flip flops and then threw them out when we went home. Otherwise, I think you are set! The hospital at least when I had my kids, really give you everything that you need. You will do great!! 💖
I love the mask idea! I’m only a couple weeks behind you ☺️ second time around though! One random thing to consider is a sleep mask! My one pajama set just happened to come with one and I’m SOOO glad it did! The room was bright at 5 am with the sun. All of the lights were annoying to me etc it just really helped 🙃
Yess. I am bringing a sleep mask and a small sound machine. I will get zero sleep if there isn’t some kind of white noise. And I need it dark! We must be really close together, I’m due Aug 28th!

Make sure to learn how to swaddle if you don't know already. Pillow and blanket for hubby too. Everything else that you have already I fully support!!! Great job mama 👍
I recomend taking the backpack so if you are leaving and carrying a bunch of stuff your arms will be more free instead of the bag slipping down. Excited to see baby!
My best advice is make sure your water has a big straw! Hubby was giving me water through a straw during labour and it was soooo convenient.

Hi Sam - I'm sure you and Jarod are so excited to see your baby girl when you deliver in July; Wow it just seems like yesterday when you announced you were pregnant.
I’m 34 weeks too but this will be my 4th and last pregnancy. I would say you got everything you need. If you want I would suggest a folder to hold all the paperwork so you won’t lose them.
Just some advice from this mama of four. Just in case you get nauseous, I would pack some peppermint oil or some peppermint gum. It helps so much. My last 2 were unmedicated and both of those I felt nauseous right at the end of labor.. I've had those type of nursing bras and wasn't a big fan. You might like them but if you don't they have ones that don't clip. Ive also seen those she fit ones. Those seem like they'd be good for nursing

I bought the exact same slippers for when I gave birth!! Just a heads up, I dont know how it is in FL but I gave birth 3 months ago in MI and I was required to wear a mask the entire time, including my c-section. So you may want to prepare yourself for that if you haven't already.

I'm due in 2 weeks and I know my must haves as specially this being my 3rd child, wireless headphones and extra long charger. And for baby girl I'm bring a grooming kit so If I want to trim her nails I can.
I put in my bag ibuprofen because they charge 14.95 per tablet! And I heard about birth you get a lot of cramps still. And someone suggested this liquid off amazon caused after ease drops which is supposed to help with after birth cramping and gas pains as well. I would maybe pack a stool softener too I heard the big number two after birth is terrifying
That's crazy. I'm in the U.K and it's free to give birth here. I can't believe people in America have to pay to have a baby 😮. X
This was what my first hospital bag looked like lol I’m going to be delivering soon and I’m here to tell you… there is not enough time or energy too care this much about anything lol
My favorite was being in a nursing bra and underwear and when it was go time the underwear came off lol
I used the shampoo/conditioner/body wash
Deodorant/chapstick/lotion/toothpaste/brush
I used the grippy socks and slippers (and sandals for the shower)
Extra long phone charger
Speaker for Music /laptop for movies or games too kill time or distract you
A going home outfit
One night gown and extra nursing bra
Baby’s going home outfit plus my favorite swaddle.
And definitely snacks.
I love the water jugs and ICE the hospital has lol 😂
Earth Mama has a perineal balm that is amazing for perineal massage. I found it really soothing after delivery too.
Check out perineal massage. It can help keep you from tearing or keep it minimal. ❤️
For my first baby I was there for 4 days due to delivering him via c section. My second baby I was out in 24 hours after delivery. Successful v-bac. Point being you just never know. Good to be prepared for anything! You never know what you’ll need or how long you’ll be there. You can always bring back home what wasn’t used. 🤍

If you don't have one packed, bring a nail file for Dots nails! Her nails will be long and sharp and she will probably be too fussy for you to cut them so filing will be so much easier. You might not need it but it's good to have a clean one on you just incase 😊

You cant eat during labor so the snacks will be for hubby and family make sure full your belly before checking in the hospital something I was glad i did.

It will not be really cold in your postpartum room. The baby has to be relatively warm since they are coming from around 100 degrees to around 70. Also the hormonal changes you will be going through will make you very hot. I would suggest the waffle robe for optimum comfort. 😊 best of luck

Depends are meant for urine, not blood. They may seem better, but they won’t be quite as absorbent as pads(which are meant for blood). You may end up having to put a big ol pad inside that depend each time 🤷🏻♀️.
You might want more than one nursing bra, or make sure to have nursing pads in them at all times! With my first baby, my milk suddenly came in and my shirt and bra both had to be changed.

Even though black isn’t so cute, it’s definitely the best choice of colour with pants/bottoms after birth due to bleeding!
Only thing I would say is pack a smaller onesie! All of the onesies we took with us were pretty big because they are so scrunch when they’re first born.
I couldn't have kids, 😢 if i would have, i would have been so excited and my hospital bag would have been all that.. everything cute i would have found. Im so excited for you as if i would be the one lol pathetic i know. Best wishes to you and your family. 🧑👧👶💓

Your gonna bleed on the comforter like crazy 😂 lowkey wish i bought one and than threw it out but i bleed through the blankets like crazy i had to change the pad every 2 hours and if i was too tired or in pain to move i bleed through them😭

OMG while you were talking about Thrive market, my box from them was delivered to my door! So weird.
I’ve had 2 babies and both times I feel only brought the essentials (going home clothes, toiletries, baby clothes) and I really wish I would’ve brought more to make myself comfortable like Sam is. I’m having my third in November and I am 100% packing this way!! Everyone is different and everyone has a different vision of their birth and stay at hospital. :)

Well I'm 32 weeks,and wanting to pack my hospital bag as well.But,here in Holland,after you gave birth,you only stay for like 2/3 hours and then you gotta go.You get washed,baby gets washed,and then you go.Also our healthcare system is pretty good and pay a lot off money every month, we don't get much off anything at the hospital.So yeah,tough one what to bring!
