Thank you for the video George, i have the same problem, i dint feel like going to the mechanic to spend 400 dollars on labor, you made it seem easy but i want to do it and save, thank yiu again
Very good ,and the sea foam , fantastic ! But
Unless you want to take it apart you don’t have to.
While running , remove the fuel fuse ( 4th medium square one , see book)
Turn off key, Unbolt battery cables ,
Take the filter housing off,
Loosen the egr nut ( w crescent wrench , or 1 1/4 I think) and any plugs in the way,
Loosen manifold bolts ,t20 (built in, rear by feel though)
Take a 2 in extension( w a socket on it) and prop the manifold up in front,
Id put a rag or a peice of paper over the intake holes )
Replace it ,t30)
Note; feel the intake gasket , if it’s factory and still raised up , it’s fine , naturally “fit” to the manifold made to last ,( like an air filter gasket ) and should not leak.(mine didn’t,)
Take the socket out ,
Bolt her back up ( to specs!)
When your done , sea foam it to clean ( slowly ) .
light may come off dash by itself or from leaving batt undone , but would put the obd on just to make sure.
Thanks for your video...I have this same problem with my Ford Explorer 2004...now i know what to do...best regards from Dominican Republic!!!
Thank you very much for posting this video. I am handy but don't know very much about cars. This video saved me 300$ and I learned a skill. That back screw was really hard to take out- i couldn't even find it at first. I used my iPhone in video mode with the light on so I could see it, after that it wasn't so bad. I couldn't really take the whole cover off but i removed all the screws so i could still lift it and was able to change the sensor. Anyway i just wanted to say thanks.
Your welcome! I am glad my video helped. I never thought of changing the sensor by just lifting the intake manifold up just a little for clearance to get to the sensor...good Idea! that back screw is hell isn't!
I just needed to get my intake off my 2008 Mercury Mountaineer. (fuel leak somewhere near that very back torx screw. Was a good video for my purposes!
Life Saver! Awesome video. just replaced my sensor on my 04 Explorer 4.0 V6 and everything went well! Except for the back screw! But I managed. Thanks again for the video!
I am so glad it helped! I wanted to do a better video but that back screw is a b****. I dropped the extension that I rigged with the torx bit dropped it behind the engine had to get another extension set with another torx screw I lost a lot of time on that back screw!
Thank you for a great video. I have one of these and had to do the same thing. I'm going to remove and clean my throttle body this weekend, but couldn't remember how difficult it is to take it off. Looks like not very hard at all. thanks for sharing.
Glad it helped
Thanks for the vidoes George.
thank you . Happy holidays.
You filmed it, uploaded it, shared it with the rest of us...guys like you are REAL heroes! Thanks brother!
Damn UR slower than me I'm 60...Lol.Thanks Sir for The Vid.You Did encourage me.
thanks this is a great help
I already clean my gasket from the inteck manifold BUT i forgot to realize the fuel pressure from the engine so after I put it back and start the engine a hall bunch of fuel came out from the bottom of the engine and don’t know what to do? If leave the engine running or wait until the fuel leak stops?
GEORGE THANK YOU BROTHER!!
you should change your title to changing gasket on manifold ,., NOT FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR ...
+Frank D Sorry I was pressed for time...promised my daughter I would have the truck fixed to pick her up at school. It is one thing to do the job, another thing to film and do the job. Thanks for the reply , good video though , I have made a video myself , I will be posting very soon to help out youtube watchers :)

A D llll l l kjhhfddX. &.k!
Yep, exactly what he did. The fuel rail sensor is the mystery in this video.lol.
Thanks dear l changed the fuel rail presure sensor. And l resolve a problem engine funtion as well no fail code l vhange the sensor. Erase the code. And service light not return.
Good for you! Thanks for watching!
Hey i was looking at the video as I am expirencing simular problems. My problem is very little fuel delivery to the shrader valve on my 2002 ford explorer 4.0 sohc non flex. I installed a fuel pump installed a emergency shut off installed a new crankshaft position sensor. Got new relays and fuses and the issue is no start but crank. Before the issue the truck died. I got it started then died again. Hugh amounts of hesitation beforw the fuel pump install. I need to know where exactly is the fuel regulator located so i can install new. Is it behind the cold air intake manifold and what does it look like. Thanks
does anyone know where I can buy the bolts that fasten the air box down?
was the check engine light on before you changed it
What happens if you forgot to hook up the hose to the gas pressure sensor
Thanks for sharing
Good video, though I really wanted to see the removal of the manifold. I have a 2005 Mountaineer - code p0193. Was this the same code you had?
There's an"Emergency Fuel Shut Off Switch" on other side of glove box, passenger side, by top door hinge, red button. I used that instead of removing fuel fuse. While engine running press button and fuel eventually used up and no pressure in line.
Thank you for the video...save me some $$$... The back bolt is hard to get ..
So he made completely sure not to show it or the location. Fucking moron who just loves to hear himself speak.
Hey I have a 2002 explorer with the same engine and it be acting up on me. .I shift gear and shut off it do it not all the time but frequently is doing it often. ..I don't have a diagnostic computer. .but I'm definitely sure that is the regulator. .wen I saw you going to the back of the truck and looking at the smoke I was like wow. .. mines is white smoke not a lot but it did it. .. I check on the oil cap and it is not mixing water so I really frustrated. .helllllpppppll
Thanks for the video ,,,
I am sorry, I was pressed for time. The hardest part was getting the bolt in the back of the manifold. I couldn't see it had to get on it by feel of the #30 torx bit with extension that has to be a certain size or you won't be able to reach it or to high to out ratchet on extension because of the cowl and firewall.
Never even showed the sensor replacement. This video was a waste of time to watch.

Thank you very much. I changed my EGR before watching your video. I didn't remove the throttle first. I just spent too much time tying to open the two bolts holding the EGR. When putting the new EGR, one bolt broke into halves. The other one did not take it place right. It holds, but not straight and tight in its place. How to fix this problem Sir?
+thesky1408 Should of taken it to somebody who knows what they are doing. You shade tree mechanics are plain shit and think you know it all
whe are sensor valvule oils for explorer 2005. thanyou
I have kia sportage 2014 gdi and the code P0193 is appear when I changed fuel real pressure sensor the car not starting
No worries man. It's definitely going to give me a head start. Did you have a p0193 Check Engine code?
My explorer reads code p0182 the fuel temperature sensor? Will stall then shuts off...
Many thanks
Hola buenas tardes una pregunta mi camioneta falla cuán do acelera de asonsa que podría ser es una Explorer 2002
I'm trying to learn where the vacuum pump is located
porque no me funciona la 4x4 de una Ford explore 2002 se activa y luego yano
Mr. George, I have a 2005 4.0 flex fuel with a p0193 engine code on but its running fine, only problem is my fuel mileage is very bad. I guess my question is how do I know its not the fuel pump or the egr valve?
Angelo montero I think your sensor is going. I have read a P0190 defiantly shows sensor is not working properly. In this video it goes into depth about this error code...ruclips.net/video/vKKlB7pFi80/видео.html
which relay did you remove in the fuse box to relieve the pressure?
@1:41 into the video show which relay to pull out.
What kind of replacement gaskets do I need to get? I do not want buy the wrong part.
www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2005,explorer,4.0l+v6,1430688,engine,intake+manifold+gasket,5424
Hi, how many gaskets are needed, 6 or 12? Thanks
+Anders Aaberg 6 o ring gaskets.
Is there a vaccum line that goes to the sensor?
no Gas line
Removing and replacing the 4.0 intake manifold is not easy. Two hints that work for me are: lie atop the engine, reach down and around the manifold with left hand to locate the Torx 30 screw at back (driver side) while groping for it with the Torx bit. This for both remove and replacement. Secondly, assuming intake fully removed, put a small band of masking tape on each Torx screw to hold them at the top of their travel while jockeying the manifold back into position. This prevents the bottom of the screws from dropping inside the intake ports and complicating a difficult positioning exercise. Good luck.
It took me 2 hours to get that one bolt in back of intake manifold.
I had a hard time with them too. I used a flexible endoscope type thing from Amazon that connects via wifi to my phone. I propped my phone up where I could see it, then used the scope to see the torx head and position the bit correctly. Saved a huge amount of time.
can you tell me where to find those last back bolts on the intake i got 6
Antonio Leija try using a mirror behind the intake manifold to get an Idea where it is. Then by feel you can get the torx bit in the screw...it took my 2 hours to get that number 8 bolt out!
Great job on the gaskets. But you failed to show anything on the fuel rail sensor I expected to see. Guess ill keep searching.
Allen Schwinn Sorry I was pressed for time...promised my daughter I would have the truck fixed to pick her up at school. It is one thing to do the job, another thing to film and do the job. Done. Your video did help tremendously. My sister is very pleased and now can take the Explorer to the mountains. I couldnt find any more videos on the topic so I watched yours again and went for it. That back intake bold must have been a joke from the engineers. It was tough. only about a 2 hour job normally from start to finish. I wish I could have filmed it but I agree with you. Its hard. Thank you for posting the video. Happy wrenching.
Allen Schwinn Thank for the comment. Glad you fixed it and that was the problem. I used a Innova CanOBD2 to troubleshoot and has paid for itself 10 times over!
Mr. George, I have a 2004 explorer that died while driving and won't start. I scanned and got the code P 0193. Could this be my issue
My guess yes.
But you made my day😅
I can't remove the left rear and right rear screws from the intake manifold. Is there a trick to getting to them and taking them off? Any suggestions?
+Mister C I don't know...I hope you didn't stripped them?
@GeorgeVassalloJr exactly why I hesitate to try! My 05 explorer flex fuel 4.0 has a po191 code!
ok so I was watching the video but it doesn't actually SHOW the removal/replacement of the sensor - do you have a video for that??
I am sorry, I did not film that part of the removal or the install of the sensor. I was pressed for time. The removal and install of the sensor is very easy! It's the removal of the intake manifold. When I troubleshoot repairing anything I watch many You tube videos and search the web ect. thanks for watching.
Thanks
My father was a master mechanic and he would have slapped me silly for using a crescent wrench. He did not even own a crescent wrench. The proper tool to use on that fuel line is a Flare Wrench.
I would be nice to see what you're DOING!!! NICE CAMERA POSITIONING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
My vehicle idles rough then shuts down wil changing this sensor solve the problem
See if your getting a code PO190.
No need to re.ove the throttle body and the large nut that tightens the egr pipe. Just remove the two 10mm bolts from the egr to intake manifold and thats it.
5 minutes on loosening a cable clamp... 0 seconds on actually removing the manifold.
Glad I watched this ahead of time, anyone using this step by step is royally fucked once they take the throttle body off.
how you take the clap off buddy?
How do I pull a motor in a 2005 Ford Explorer
Jimmy Kimbrough you just pull it out...
I was hoping to see you got the rear manifold bolt of the driver side. I think you skipped intake bolt removal. Otherwise good video
Im getting no codes either. Forgot to mention
how long did it take to replace the sensor?
4 hours my first time, never did before this job. I lost a lot of time on the BACK BOLT by the firewall!
How much do a fuel rail pressure sensor go for? I was charge 900 with labor.
+albe1500 I think I paid $75 from rock Auto
Thanks for the reply. I was also told that I need to buy the wiring harness ( an updated version for the sensor). Do you anything about that too?
no I don't know any thing about that. All I know is The FRPS that I bought was not oem and it plugged in okay and worked fine, sorry I didn't show the installation. I was pressed for time. The back bolt by the firewall is next to impossible to get to, took me tow hours to remove with a mirror.
Awsome just skip taking the intake off
Right.....need to see how to do it
Bro 😂😂 did you even changed the sensor? I know how to change the gaskets tho. Thank you
Yes I did, it was the problem.
and what was the code?
Showing a p0190 error code high probability the sensor is gone.
Stupid question now is this the fuel level sensor or are they two different parts?
This is the Fuel pressure sensor, helps give longer life to the fuel pump.
Do you have a video on dropping the fuel tank? And changing the sensor? Or know of a instructions book?
Chilton Explorer/ Mountaineer 2002-2010 repair manual
You dont have to go threw rhis whole process if you look under the intake yoou should be able to reach it with a wratchit wrench lift slightly pull vacume hose becareful when doing this to not break vacume hose to in stall do the reverse
Thanks for watching please subscribe.
EGR tube nut is inch and a sixteenth. Does your wife know you use a steak knife for auto repair?
EGR nut is 1-1/16”
Oooops
Hey George did you forget to show everyone how to remove the sensor. I. Mean really
No wonder no one is showing the whole process.. That last bolt on the firewall side is a *#@$!!
Thanks for understanding dude!
Is what? Didn’t understand?
Dude this video didn’t help at all in no part on this video did he ever even show you where the actually sensor is
Skipped all the important parts what's the point
Totally skipped the fuel rail sensor part. All I wanted to see lol
changing FPRS is a piece of cake getting to it is the hard part....ruclips.net/video/Hk2ZgO8_6m4/видео.html
you didn't show how to change it
I was pressed for time, it is under the intake manifold pain in the ass to get to.
I have the same problem withe my explorer 2004. I read the code p0193 fuel rail pressure sensor. Where locate this sensor..? I need to find.jhonny taveras f santiago dominican republic
The fuel rail pressure sensor is located under the intake manifold on he fuel rail driver side. I was showing a code p0190
No explanation of what was being disconnected in each step. No video of the sensor actually being replaced. I'm not even sure why someone would take the time to make this video if they're not willing to provide a detailed explanation.
Some of these guys just like to here them self talk they should just get to the point right
IKR
and dont forget to change the injector orings & filters, for Genuine Ford Motorcraft fuel injectors & rebuild kits check us out

thank you
-Bryan
engine change and can't find vacume line for fuel rail 2001, can see where it pluged in on intake
I can clearly see black smoke at a reduced rate and you’re saying no black smoke 😂
Joe
please check our video, we had a similar problem showing our diagnosis
yup.. those intake bolts are a bitch lol
Especially the back one!
You need a Brazilian knuckle wax.
LOL
That was a waste of time..you didn't show where it was..
Thank you, Sir! I checked and changed the years. The fuel rail pressure sensor is not under the intake manifold on 2006 explorer and newer. They moved it from under the intake manifold, which is very hard to replace with it under the manifold back bolt under firewall hard to remove and put back in.
Well thanks for not showing us a damn thing smh. What a waste of time.
Not a very good video at all. How can you make a video of changing the fuel rail pressure sensor (position sensor you called it) and not even show a pic of the sensor and where it is on the rail. You showed me how to change the intake manifold gaskets really nice....I pulled up this video so I could see you unbolt the intake and change out the fuel rail pressure sensor...not unbolt a throttle body or watch your tachometer and or note the color of your exhaust. Next time keep your eyes on the prize.
I am sorry you are right. I was pressed for time. It took me two hours to get the back bolt off the intake manifold, you cannot see the bolt. You have to feel for it, to get the torx bit on it. Thanks for watching.
George Vassallo ....sorry for being so rough on you. I am getting ready to do this job in the next few days...I want to film it myself but am too lazy to do that...ha. So how can I truly critique someone when I'm not willing to do it myself...who knows, may just bust out the camera and make my first video. I have a code PO193 and have the sensor...just have to pull it down now. Not looking forward to it at all.
gandl2123 it's all good ...hope you get your truck fixed.
FUCKING CLICKBAIT!!!! I SHOULD'VE LOOKED AT THE COMMENTS BEFORE WASTING 13 MINS!!
Liar
