    I struggled with the passenger side valve cover until I saw your video. I had it off in two minutes and worked for hours before I came across your video. Thanks for taking time to make it.

    Thanks for the video brother. Fixing to start on one this morning on a exploder for my teenage son to drive. 270k miles and besides the rear steering spindles this is the first big job on it. I can’t really complain because it’s been one heck of a vehicle to last this long with no major issues besides this stupid valve cover leaking.
    If it wasn’t leaking on the exhaust I’d probably just keep adding oil 😂😂

      Yeah you wasn’t joking about that back bolt it definitely was not easy to get to. 😂😂

    Thanks for the video. I used my cell phone camera to help me see the back bolts on manifold (video record with light mode). In my case I left the EGR attached to the manifold when removing the manifold, but did remove the throttle body. I had the fun of doing the manifold install twice as a (new) manifold gasket slipped out of place, unnoticed until I fired the car up and it ran very poorly - joy.

    While you was in did you replace the fuel rail sensor under the manifold? It would be a pain to have to pull that manifold back off after just doing the gaskets. Your sensor goes bad and it will randomly shut down your engine or have hard starts. Learned that the hard way! But you save $500 at the local shop with a diy! Great vid!

    I follows your video but mine starts but is rough and won’t stay started for more than few seconds. I have a hose that plugs to a valve of some sort on back side of manifold on driver side...can’t seem to find out where it plugs into

    I have a 2002 Explorer XLT 4 wheel drive V6 4.0 L FYI I didn't know that the Ford trucks trouble codes can b ckd on the dash at odometer at digital gauge. You can ck fuel pressure, idiot bulbs on dash, etc. And u can clear codes drive the normal 20-30 miles to see if you get anymore codes.

    Biggest issue with this job is if the wiring harness is cooked and brittle. You HAVE to replace it, which means taking the intake back off.

      Check your throttle body and cables they could be hung up on something Plan B would be to call ghost busters it could be Mr. Ford himself frustrated with all the jokes people make up about his Fords.!! "CHEERS"

      That's what I need to know. I'm fixing to put a camera behind there and use it to guide my racket extension (and maybe a swivel) to get at it.

    • @paulhartmann6473
      @paulhartmann6473 4 года назад

      Well I got it out. Feel your way behind it and line up with the ones you can see through the manifold. Wasn't that bad and did not need a swivel.

      I laid across the engine, forehead against the the windshield part of the engine bay. Flashlight aimed at the bolt, my phone slightly offset and used the socket, an extension, and adapter for more length and the smallest socket wrench I had. Tap the socket on there good when you have the wrench part off, hold it still and firm then put the wrench on and twist strongly and slowly.
