    I have a 2006 Ford Explorer XLT; same engine block. I tackled replacing two leaking valve covers and this is the only video I found on how to get the air intake manifold off and back on. I have never worked on an engine to this magnitude, but this video got me half way there; at least access to the valve covers. If you ever change out the valve covers on your Explorer, you would be the first to provide instructions on how to access both sides if you could post a video of it. I was unable to find any videos getting me past the air intake manifold but with time and an extended vocabulary, I figured it out. Thanks for the video!!

      I did the valve cover replacement on my 06 Ford Exploder 4.0L V6 and I tell you it was a chore pain in the ass it is some piece of work b.s. work i've ever worked on. First its gotta do with removing the intake manifold. If you had to do a valve cover replacement, replace a fuel pressure sensor or anything thats under the intake manifold you would have to remove the intake manifold to get to the part your replacing. This is the worst motor i've worked on. For a long time i put up with the leaky valve cover gasket until got to the point that the oil was running down the side of the motor and onto the exhaust manifold burning off leaving smoke residue as you drive down the road so finally one day i said enough bought the intake manifold gaskets and valve cover gaskets and went to town on this motor. A year and half later i had to pull the intake manifold off again to replace a fuel pressure sensor because i was getting a P0193 engine code for fuel pressure sensor high circuit.

    Please relabel this video Ford Engine - 4.0L SOHC Intake Manifold / Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Replacement .
    I have searched for 2003 & 2006 Ford Explorer Intake Removal, but you are the only one who has the exact engine. Thank you, now i can move onto replacing my valve cover gaskets, probably make a video to support that as well.

    Good video as I have this version of the Explorer Fuel sensor. Later models have it externally from the intake and this helped me locate mine below the intake as the video shows. Most videos how easy external.
    Maybe a bit of commentary a you proceed and less of washing out intake as we get the idea. Otherwise helpful video and will tackle job when parts come from Amazon. Sensor at local suppliers was $100+ where Amazon had Bosch original at $35.

    Thanks for absolutely great video. I mentioned in a reply that using a cell phone camera (video record with light) made locating the back bolt much easier for me -- at least at my novice level of auto repair.. I was able to guide the torx wrench to bolt in seconds.

    I've have a 02 ford explorer 4.0 today in a long time, I finally got the code P0300 mist fired I know its got to be a leak on the intake because I replace just about everything like spark plugs, all the sensor, wires etc. So I'm going to try it, wish me luck everyone. Thanks for the video I got motivated in doing it.

    Had the check engine light on and consumed lots of fuel. Last month changed the egr valve. Now this fuel rail sensor is bad. So I had to tear this all apart again. However having problems getting to the last bolt in the back of the intake manifold. Sat on top of engine to try and feel this bolt but fingers are short. Almost lost my extension socket trying to find this. Frustrated trying to find this last bolt.

      Can be smell of fuel. Acceleration hesitation. Rough idle and stall when idle. And stall after hesitation to accelerate. Mines been doing it alot generally when i stop at lights and as i hit 2nd gear will shake and stall. But ignition always turns over following that. Generally after a few minutes with the car off then i will be able to turn over and drive the vehicle a bit.

    I just finished doing this job. There is a reason you did not show the back inner manifold bolt coming out. Its not a lot of fun. If ever I meet the engineers who designed that sensor, he and I are going to come to blows.

    • @sjconley52
      @sjconley52 7 лет назад +3

      Allan, I'm in the process of trying to do this job on my 2007. How do you even get to the rear bolt??

    • @allanklingler6461
      @allanklingler6461 7 лет назад +5

      Feel for the little slot extrusion in the back. Look visually at the inner row of bolts. It will be inline with that row under that slotted thing....you'll have to feel your way in to it with the socked since you won't be able to see it. Practice with your finger to find the head with the tip of your finger, since you won't be able to see it. don't drop your tool since it likely will fall under the air gap of the manifold and you will have a hard time getting it back on the torques head piece... so if it was me, I would get some painters tape and tape your socket extension to the bit so it don't separate. You will thank me for that tip.

    How can u tell when you need to change it?

    • @dolceman9

      Leo M easiest way is to take your car to an auto parts store like Autozone and they will tell what is exactly wrong with your car by just plugging in to car computer

      I have a 2013 GMC Terrain and the P0191 code popped up. No other codes. Is it really as simple as taking off the the intake manifold, replacing sensor and then putting the manifold back on? You covered a few other things in this video. Are those things required to get my car back on the road or did you just show them since you were already in there? I know it will take me A LOT longer than it took you, but I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty and do this if it will save me $600 because I simply don't have it :(

      Hey Fred how's it going I saw your comment on RUclips about the fuel pressure sensor , so I have my check engine light on and went to get it checked out and they told me I have a bad fuel pressure sensor but before I change mine I was wondering could you please tell me what was your truck doing to see if we had the same problem going on thanks

    • @dolceman9
      @dolceman9  8 лет назад

      +sergio diaz your best bet is to take your truck to autozone and they will check all the codes and tell u exactly what's wrong

    • @sergiodiaz3903
      @sergiodiaz3903 8 лет назад

      thanks yes I did take it to auto zone and that's what the code pulled up that it was but I'm not for sure if thats what the problem is. so what going on is my truck runs good every once in a while when I'm at a redlight, traffic, or a drive threw my truck starts to stardule and acts like it wants to turn off on me then I give it a Little gas then it turns off but then turns right back on so o was wondering if your truck was doing the same thing before you replaced yours
