I love when shows also feature some material from percussion ensemble music. I javent watched their show on the floor but the rhythm being played by the snares at 10:14 is a direct reference to Andy Akihos "Pillar III" and it's in 13/16. I'm playing one of the other pillars in this and heard that reference immediately. Super interested in hearing it in context!
Great stuff. MCM rehearsed right next door to my house here in Bellevue (West Nashville). There's at least one night a week, one snare guy comes out to the church parking lot and rams notes for at least an hour. I hope to see MCM back on top.
I know there are a bit more logistics when it comes to this, but would you guys consider going to the Long Beach Regional? Just in PIW, there are 10 of the now 32 (Congrats I2) groups going to Dayton for championships. Along with contenders in PSW and PIO. Perhaps if not this year, it's definitely something to think about in the coming seasons. It's basically a 3rd of PIW at one show.
You guys should go back in time a bot and look at drumlines in the 80s...like Cadets' 7th place in drum in a winning 84 show -- they experimented a GREAT deal that year (also look at 84 BD....but I'm biased)
We actually have done some past shows. Tom floats BD lines of the 80s, 87 SCV and cadets, star 93. We look to do more in the future in between DCI and WGI seasons.
@@agedoutpodcast The spirit of the comment (there's lots of disorienting rhythms) comes across but there doesn't seem to be much metric modulation either. There's plenty of quintuplets and other tuplet rhythms but in order to consider them metric modulations they'd need to be composed with an accent structure that clearly implies, and often pivots to, another meter.
Thanks for using my video! I love you guys! :)

The guy with all the energy is Ben Lupton, the battery caption head.
to hear x alumni speak this good on mcm is wild lol home team killing it this season.
Home team. This is my favorite mcm show in a while
definitely feeling more like a mystique show this year
Great stuff.

When MCM is on they are f'n ON!
Excited to hear your thoughts on United Percussion soon. Those dudes were cookin at Trumbull
been waiting for this one!!!!!!!
Look, Mystique ‘22 was the slapper of the decade, my favorite MCM show since ‘11. This is cool, they sound great so far, but last year was GOAT.
personally I prefer MCMs darker/more serious shows like '17, but that's just me. It's all amazing sounding drums so who cares right haha
Idk about that chief.
Yo my band’s trailer is in the background! Loved watching MCM in person this year, they sound amazing.

Haha, oh how I wish we could!
The algorithm got me again. idk how I got here, but pretty interesting.
You’re welcome to be here, lol.
Musically the show is really cool, great book and music effect, hopefully the visual effect gets to where it needs to be

My McM coworkers: they were nice to us 👁️👄👁️
Pretty sure this video was taken by one of my students!
Check out infinity this season! A good channel is Alexander Nguyen
If you like tasty bass writing, you will like Infinity's bass feature this year!
I showed up to watch and the number of views is 311. I'll just assume that as a win.
That is a win.
I know everyone loves musicological pedantry but they're changing rhythmic units not meters
Would’ve been more accurate to say metric modulations. But hopefully the spirit of the comment still comes across.
