- Mid June Tasman pops out to Motunau Island for the first time, freezing cold waters but there were good pauas and a few fish and crays to chase.
Topped off with a bitta rod fishing and some inquisitive Hectors dolphins, pretty neat day out on the water!

Great write up in the NZ boating magazine! I really liked the story of how Red Current got its name. I thought you just really liked berries or something. 😂 But I have now learnt a new natural history fact about the Tory Channel so thanks for that. I hope this weather plays the game and you get out to Fiordland soon. We are also out on the water for the winter and the weather had been unsettled and unreliable to say the least.

Actually heading out to Preservation tonight then on to Dusky in the morning! 3-4 weeks, looking pretty mint for the next 10 days! Ah that's awesome, I hear it's been pretty nasty down south here for most of this year actually.

Hmmm I think the title is quite good actually. I think you might find that the success of a channel is not so much related to the size of the fan base, but the dedication of the fan base. I wouldn't underestimate yourself. Have a blast in Dusky, it's an amazing place!

Voiceover was fine I reckon. The level could have been higher though. It's noticeable when you cut back to you speaking to camera.
That dolphin totally looked up at you eh? So cool.
One of my best memories is seeing a dolphin and calf in Dunedin harbour and swimming out towards them. She bought her calf right over to me and did slow circles around me about 1m away. I had a mask on and we were looking each other in the eye. She had her baby on the inside of the circle, closest to me and it was so tiny. Honestly one of the coolest things that's ever happened to me.

Great stuff, only thing you have to remember for next time with voice over is that your microphone was mono and so there was only audio on the left channel by default!

Another fortnight fix of Tasman that didn't disappoint. Voiceover was great, bloopers were better. Just how ridiculous is it that you go diving with welding gloves. Imagine what the crayfish say when they see those thing coming.

I've been looking forward to this one for a while since you told me you dived there. Pretty neat video. I liked the dolphins on the 360 camera at the end. Mabey we can go out there this summer in my boat, launch on mid tide, dive over low tide, come back on mid tide. About 6 hours. Diving then rod fishing. What was the dirt boat ramp like? Was the soil hard and compacted? Or mushy and muddy?

Thanks Jamie! Yeah awesome spot, would be nice in the summer! I thought the ramp was pretty good, hardest up at the top getting a bit softer where I launched. Be fine in a 4x4 though, and it would be way higher up on the hard stuff at higher tide too.

Thanks! Yeah often isn't great audio out in the bush 😆 voice-over a bit more controllable and lets me slow my speech down a bit too 😂
