How do I buy back weapons I have sold? I have gone to inns and firecamp spots but they don't have any of the weapons I sold off and I need them in order to upgrade.

Yea, but I hate that each character only gets TWO mystic artes in Arise. In most other tales games, Xillia 2, Zestiria, Berseria for example, each character has 3 or more mystic rates! Even team mystic artes are in other Tales games, where teammates together do mystic artes! I think two is just too little.
When does this start? I've known this from the beginning and have Rin in my party already and have no options to bond with anyone or have ever seen any other than the standard reminisce tab and the R1 Option "when" available and thats not the bond episodes and menus I keep seeing??
DONT SLEEP ON RINWELL! I solo almost all the close range bosses with her. Her magic combos are godlike. If you chain combo her big artes with her ultimate attack you can easily rack up 20-30k damage early in the game.
4 months later i bought the game for the 1st time, a really good decision i made was switching to Rinwell once i unlocked her to try her playstyle and figure her out now my dumb self played the tutorial on auto mode just because i thought i affected everyone NO!! just the character im using i won't git gud unless i play the game for myself (AI companions are always auto so only customise team strategy) anyways i like using Rinwell and her spells are flashy AF especially the 3rd tier
Currently over 40 hours on the game.. my tip is use CP on EVERYTHING you stumble upon EVERYWHERE. May it be barrier to break down, an ice wall to melt, people to heal or astral barrier to dispel.. All of them have something worth obtaining
Great points :) My biggest hurdle right now is getting gold in the game. It feels like I'm always broke lol. Tip 18: Read up on monster weaknesses for each area and then select the appropriate party members and arts for it.
Dunno how far you are but i got some decent gold by selling drops from the dungeons both before you fight the boss before cysloden and before the 2nd lord. Just have to rest and enemies will respawn.
One tip he should have mentioned is: [Don't Sell your Weapons] like I did :( They will be used to upgrade to a higher version. If you do you will have to spend more money and materials to remake them in order to upgrade them.
At 8:11 CP not only heals but it is a vital component for Shionne or Dohalim to use Resurrection artes. Imagine my shock when on playthrough 1 on Day 1 when going up ahead the 1st Lord Balseph and I had a few Life Bottles on me and once Alphen went down I then got Shionne to use all of my Life Bottles during the fight. What made me feel stupid is the fact that Shionne has a Resurrection arte from the very first moment she fights alongside you at Level 1 upon starting my 2nd playthrough when in past Tales games you had to reach a certain level to use Resurrection. With this in mind I decided to completely throw out everything I had learned in past Tales Games since this little change meant that Arise is not going to be the same. All in all Tales of Arise was so enjoyable and the learning curve was my most fun part in learning about the nuances of the differences between past and present Tales games.
I’m at 16 hours going through the story at a leisurely pace and started feeling minimax anxiety/nervousness that my play was sub-optimal so I went looking for videos and this is the best one that I’ve found so thank you 🙏🏽 This is the kind of stuff I wanted to know. It’s cool that the game fundamentally just wants you to enjoy it and go through the story without too much grinding etc. The biggest thing I missed so far was crafting accessories. I didn’t want to do it because I couldn’t tell which of my materials were rare or which effects I wanted to keep. I’m at the dungeon with rinwell vs the big marlboro looking boss so maybe I’ll try crafting some anti-poison stuff to start off.
Just craft what looks good at the moment. Until you get tier 5 accessory materials, what you get is garbage anyway that you'll only use to unlock the skills on your crafted accessories.
You can turn on/off the artes you want characters AI to cast. If you fight a wind weak enemy, turn off all Rinwells artes except for wind so she atack only with those.
You cant cancel out of combos but you can cancel out of the endings of combos. For example with Alphen's dragon swarm arte you can cancel out of the last hit by dodging so he doesnt stand there for a sec after the arte is done. Also I've found that alphen's soaring light spear arte is best used at the end of a combo if you're gonna use it since it knocks the enemy back a significant amount. So an example I've used a ton is lightning strike to get up into the air then Lunar Rondo then hurricane thrust then either vacuum waves or soaring light spear to end it
2 things i want to add. 1) Cure points (CP) are also used for map actions, a lot of the time equipment is hidden behind these. this is another reason to save CP where you can. 2) you can only carry 15 of a specific item i.e. life bottles. so dont be afraid to use them should you be at cap or near it. as if you find items in the wild, you wont be able to collect them. One more thing to add after playing as rinwell. Mystic atres stop what ever your casting or whatever you have just released.

Edit: if this was what taught me to use reigning slash, I restarted at the 20 hr mark to fine tune my build (it’s easy to mess up- if you don’t plan on taking characters and playing them, avoid the dodge abilities and etc), and reigning slash is by far overturned lmao. Hits like a bolt of fucking lightning

I’m playing this game a year late and on unknown only. What I find is, as long as you’re farming materials from monsters, and cooking to increase your yield, and keeping up the level 5 combo chain, you’ll have so much gald, you can afford to splurge on anything you want. Even made orange gel maxing a breeze.
I recommend putting your party members on stand by when you want to learn the mechanics of a character better, also I’m pretty sure you can change artes mid combat, so if you find a strong enough enemy you could use them as a punching bag to practice… or I think theres a dlc training room? But idk how to access it
there's an artifact called "blades of sealing" which makes everyones (including the enemy) damage to do 1 damage. Its perfect to practice on even the weakest enemy
Great tips! Lots of things not clearly explained in the game here. I was coasting through the game chill without paying much attention to mechanics or anything until I got to the second boss which made me respect the games difficulty lol and this was on normal. I was under the impression the game would be easy as these big games lately are coming so dumbed down but boy was I wrong. I havent seen it mentioned anyware but I even think its more convenient to put the game on moderate or hard since it gives more multiplier and the power difference between normal mobs and bosses is huge, making normal mobs fight way too easy and quick compared to bosses.
You also get less exp on higher difficulties. Ganabelt was an absolute bitch on Hard. After him it gets easier since you have more customization options.
This is late but I actually didn’t realise this til second play through so not underestimate Rinwell. If you charge her spells and store them away when you eventually release the spell say you just charged thunder blade twice you’ll get a holy lance attack etc Rinwell is lit as hell

i bought the big boy edition last Christmas, and I did play it for a bit and I was enjoying it but i haven’t returned to it after i got my ass handed to me by the second area boss I forgot his name. I’m particularly not good at JRPGs but I’ve heard this game is outstandingly fantastic. I believe it from what little i’ve played.

Yo I don't know if anyone told u yet or not but to find out what u need to do to unlock the skills u haven't yet all u need to do is hover of it and it tells u is its a side mission , if u need to cook something est... I found that out mid way through the game
My issue too. I was so lost for the demo but could tell it was really nicely made, so I took the plunge and bought it, assuming the game would teach me the basics. So far it’s an amazing game. I think it’s going to be one of my favorites 🤩
Great video. This game can be challenging even on easy and requires some strategy to give you a good advantage to run through the game smoothly like save up as much cp abilities as possible to be able to heal yourself whenever after battles espically
You can still do aerial attacks even if bosses don't break rising up still does damage and aerial attacks still do damage so changing artes layout is not necessary. PS Don't sell your old weapons they are used to craft higher level weapons.

@@buttertoast1146 i felt that too. Its a really good game over all but I wish they took more time to explore some of the ideas in each zone a little more. Probably has a lot to do with the new engine/graphics overhaul which is absolutely a huge step in the right direction.
I always disable major healing artes Dohalim has since i play Shionne mainly to maintain control over CP and ranged attacking is superior. I will keep resurrection enabled during long battles.
I have a hard time finding how to change the combat mode (auto, semi-auto, manual) while in combat. It doesn't seem to work as instructed. What am I doing wrong?

A better explanation of ‘break’ is that’s when you can pop them into the air and start juggling. Before they are broken they can’t be struck up into the air.
Awesome tips but can I just say that the "Don't Farm too much" tip is a bit off. I mean I get the EXP part but farming for SP is a bit different and every little bit counts since you need to improve your character to get stronger.
@@DearGamerTV im going through the game right now on the 3rd difficulty doing everything i can, farming, doing all side quests, basically everything i can. but at every significant battle in the story, the bosses are always like 5+ lvls higher than me. i can only assume either this difficulty is broken, or they are heavily limiting exp to promote the dlc lvl packs. to be honest this problem is the main issue i have with this game

So the thing that annoys me about the battle system in this game is that your action bar is so limited. It's why I like the Star Ocean franchise's system more. Even though it's limited as well, you can assign full skill combos to a button rather than essentially having to choose one combo and spam it, and if you want to use anything else you need to pause the action, go into multiple menus, then use it. If you want to combo that then you'll need to repeat the process. It's really the only thing that holds this game back for me. It's really not worth playing any casting characters and just let the AI use them.
I have that feeling too, just got the game, I honestly just let the ai use everyone else, I control alphen, because the have full access to all their abilities
I hope someone can help me, I started a new playthrough and shionnes aerial artes just do not unlock, I’m already past 800 gun strike proficiency and I don’t have a single aerial arte, could someone please explain wtf am I doing wrong, everything was just fine on the first playthrough
for not being able to break a boss, the ariel attacks are still really good considering most the bosses are really big and your knock up or ariel attacks will bring you up to their face level. I can see changing the artes to faster casting artes though. Like, I enjoy using Plasma Shock but it is a pretty long combo and can lead you to taking some damage. When up against a boss I normally switch it out for something faster like the lightning thrust or Severing Wind to get myself into the air. Also, as far as the farming goes, yeah your exp will get lower and lower if you are fighting the same stuff as you level up... But for a Tales games you are also farming SP for your skill tree and also Arte usage to get them stronger. So, it's still worth grinding even if not getting top notch exp. One thing that I did learn from your video has me feeling really stupid. I recently crafted accessories for everyone and spent a lot of time farming high grade materials and getting the 4 skills I wanted transferred for everyone. But, I never enhanced those accessories. I should have known better since the skills were not lit up. I just spent all night taking care of a lot of the end game side quest bosses and this would have really helped lol. Glad I got it done now though before I make my final push. In the back of my head I thought something was weird when I wasn't really noticing a difference after adding the x4 Counterattack bonus lol.
Crazy how the game does a lousy job explaining things, I'm about +- 10 hours in (just reached the verdant realm... pretty good looking game by the way) and just now I figured it out I can switch characters and target specific areas from monsters. I am not a fan of action games in general, but hell, there's so many mechanics I'm missing from this Tales game, if I don't like to memorize combos and stuff, I will try to at least scratch the surface of it, just to enjoy more of the game. Until now it's basically Alphen and friends, I never switched characters, just do the same basic combos with Alphen time and time again, etc.. it's just boring, if the game allow us to play with other characters and try some crazy combinations, then there's no reason to be limited with the stereotypical sword character, I want to see what Shionne is about beyond the tsundere cliches, maybe her long range style will be more enjoyable for a player like me who abhors action and combos?
On first play through on unknown difficulty. Change strategy and put first priority if own self 50%, then shionne cast first aid. Second, cast shionne healing circle if ally below 50%. Another tip, if Rinwell keeps dying, play as her. I was fighting a fire zeugle mini boss several levels higher. Rinwell died like crazy, couldn't beat the boss because the ai is beyond stupid. She's a mage and she keeps going melee range. Play as her if she's feeding too much. Besides alphen couldn't do much damage anyway cause fire on fire.
dude the crazy thing is you can adjust heal and percentage, in like a dragon you only prioritize healing and it heals too often with the worst items XD
I just beat him on Hard and I know your struggle. First, break his shield with Law ASAP. Second, perfect dodge him as much as possible and use blazing sword constantly. Third, put 50% light resist accessories on everyone. And finally, make sure everyone targets the same clone to burn them down fast! Good luck!

There is no way to mess up your skill tree. You can infinitely farm more sp in the game.

i bought the big boy edition last Christmas, and I did play it for a bit and I was enjoying it but i haven’t returned to it after i got my ass handed to me by the second area boss I forgot his name. I’m particularly not good at JRPGs but I’ve heard this game is outstandingly fantastic. I believe it from what little i’ve played.

Everything you mentioned corresponds with a lot of other info that is out there but after watching yours I def picked up some more useful tips ... Id go as far to say that this is one the best beginner guide for this game out there (or at least the best one ive seen so far, its a little bit longer than most but thats okay) New Sub on my end... Yo I don't know if anyone told u yet or not but to find out what u need to do to unlock the skills u haven't yet all u need to do is hover of it and it tells u is its a side mission , if u need to cook something est... I found that out mid way through the game

My issue too. I was so lost for the demo but could tell it was really nicely made, so I took the plunge and bought it, assuming the game would teach me the basics. So far it’s an amazing game. I think it’s going to be one of my favorites 🤩

Great video. This game can be challenging even on easy and requires some strategy to give you a good advantage to run through the game smoothly like save up as much cp abilities as possible to be able to heal yourself whenever after battles espically

You can still do aerial attacks even if bosses don't break rising up still does damage and aerial attacks still do damage so changing artes layout is not necessary. PS Don't sell your old weapons they are used to craft higher level weapons.
So I got this game a couple days ago and I'm loving it. Some of its systems are a little confusing to me. This is a really good video. I subscribed to you because I like how you walked us through the systems. Can't wait to see more.

@@buttertoast1146 i felt that too. Its a really good game over all but I wish they took more time to explore some of the ideas in each zone a little more. Probably has a lot to do with the new engine/graphics overhaul which is absolutely a huge step in the right direction.

I always disable major healing artes Dohalim has since i play Shionne mainly to maintain control over CP and ranged attacking is superior. I will keep resurrection enabled during long battles.

A better explanation of ‘break’ is that’s when you can pop them into the air and start juggling. Before they are broken they can’t be struck up into the air.

Awesome tips but can I just say that the "Don't Farm too much" tip is a bit off.
I mean I get the EXP part but farming for SP is a bit different and every little bit counts since you need to improve your character to get stronger.

@@DearGamerTV im going through the game right now on the 3rd difficulty doing everything i can, farming, doing all side quests, basically everything i can. but at every significant battle in the story, the bosses are always like 5+ lvls higher than me. i can only assume either this difficulty is broken, or they are heavily limiting exp to promote the dlc lvl packs. to be honest this problem is the main issue i have with this game

stadia is your friend if you have a old laptop. can stream and play at same time if you wanted too. even if on a phone
So the thing that annoys me about the battle system in this game is that your action bar is so limited. It's why I like the Star Ocean franchise's system more. Even though it's limited as well, you can assign full skill combos to a button rather than essentially having to choose one combo and spam it, and if you want to use anything else you need to pause the action, go into multiple menus, then use it. If you want to combo that then you'll need to repeat the process. It's really the only thing that holds this game back for me. It's really not worth playing any casting characters and just let the AI use them.
I have that feeling too, just got the game, I honestly just let the ai use everyone else, I control alphen, because the have full access to all their abilities

for not being able to break a boss, the ariel attacks are still really good considering most the bosses are really big and your knock up or ariel attacks will bring you up to their face level. I can see changing the artes to faster casting artes though. Like, I enjoy using Plasma Shock but it is a pretty long combo and can lead you to taking some damage. When up against a boss I normally switch it out for something faster like the lightning thrust or Severing Wind to get myself into the air. Also, as far as the farming goes, yeah your exp will get lower and lower if you are fighting the same stuff as you level up... But for a Tales games you are also farming SP for your skill tree and also Arte usage to get them stronger. So, it's still worth grinding even if not getting top notch exp.
One thing that I did learn from your video has me feeling really stupid. I recently crafted accessories for everyone and spent a lot of time farming high grade materials and getting the 4 skills I wanted transferred for everyone. But, I never enhanced those accessories. I should have known better since the skills were not lit up. I just spent all night taking care of a lot of the end game side quest bosses and this would have really helped lol. Glad I got it done now though before I make my final push. In the back of my head I thought something was weird when I wasn't really noticing a difference after adding the x4 Counterattack bonus lol.
Crazy how the game does a lousy job explaining things, I'm about +- 10 hours in (just reached the verdant realm... pretty good looking game by the way) and just now I figured it out I can switch characters and target specific areas from monsters. I am not a fan of action games in general, but hell, there's so many mechanics I'm missing from this Tales game, if I don't like to memorize combos and stuff, I will try to at least scratch the surface of it, just to enjoy more of the game. Until now it's basically Alphen and friends, I never switched characters, just do the same basic combos with Alphen time and time again, etc.. it's just boring, if the game allow us to play with other characters and try some crazy combinations, then there's no reason to be limited with the stereotypical sword character, I want to see what Shionne is about beyond the tsundere cliches, maybe her long range style will be more enjoyable for a player like me who abhors action and combos?

On first play through on unknown difficulty. Change strategy and put first priority if own self 50%, then shionne cast first aid. Second, cast shionne healing circle if ally below 50%.
Another tip, if Rinwell keeps dying, play as her. I was fighting a fire zeugle mini boss several levels higher. Rinwell died like crazy, couldn't beat the boss because the ai is beyond stupid. She's a mage and she keeps going melee range. Play as her if she's feeding too much. Besides alphen couldn't do much damage anyway cause fire on fire.
Also don't sell your old weapons. They can be used to craft better versions of said weapons.

dude the crazy thing is you can adjust heal and percentage, in like a dragon you only prioritize healing and it heals too often with the worst items XD

I just beat him on Hard and I know your struggle. First, break his shield with Law ASAP. Second, perfect dodge him as much as possible and use blazing sword constantly. Third, put 50% light resist accessories on everyone. And finally, make sure everyone targets the same clone to burn them down fast! Good luck!
