      @marcoleung311-v7j 3 года назад +2

      I think the armor in equipment doesn't change the looks. When you get a new outfit (from story, and probably collection but I haven't reached that point), you also get the same piece as armor. Most other armor only have name, description and stats
      Basically armor doesn't unlock new outfits, but outfits gives new armor
      I haven't bought dlc armor but I guess they don't give armor equipments

    • @yuzzo92
      @yuzzo92 3 года назад +2

      i believe it's very important to not change armor based on what piece of equipment you wear because usually the looks of these characters, whether you use costumes or not, are very important and more crucial to the overall experience of the game than they are in other RPGs where you pretty much play yourself/your avatar in the game.

      It was a decent game that I enjoyed. It will release in the Series X atcsome point I'm almost sure of it. The reason I say this is they did the same thing for their last big Tales game. Tales of Vesperia was a 360 exclusive for at least a year or two before the international version. Then they redid it for the 8th/9th generation and I played it again. I beat Vesperia on my Xbox 360 and then again on my Series X. We're picking up Tales of Arize on the PS5 this Friday. It was my fiancee's choice to get it in the PS5 as I chose the last game.

      Yeah...that's not necessarily the truth anymore. With Sony and their new found fondness for censorship I wouldn't bank on them being the party for exclusive JRPG'S moving forward. They just lost a JRPG not too long ago that I thought would never happen...Disgaea. That series started on the PlayStation and was well loved here in the States. We Disgaea/PlayStation players in the US were the driving force behind NIS's excellent sales. While it hit the PS4 in Japan it is a Switch exclusive here in the States. I believe that was due in large part to Sony's new stance on censorship and if true, it won't be the last. This is a big reason why I believe Microsoft is going to take this generation as more developers move away from Sony for their American releases. Microsoft holds no censorship rules with their games and GamePass is a mighty powerful tool as well.
      Addendum: I don't care one way or the other as we (fiancee and I) have both the Xbox Series X and PS5.

    • @densetsu4286
      @densetsu4286 3 года назад +4

      @@Sinn0100 nope still is. Playstation still has the most. Pc is gaining. Xbox is still almost desolate. At the start of every gen MS tries to beg and plead but eventually they stop cause it's a lost cause. Happened with og Xbox. Happened with x360. Happened with xbone. What makes you think xsx will be any different? There's nothing that shows it will be.
      Also no developer had left sony. And gamepass isn't all powerful. It's most MS shelling out tons of cash to devs. And then only dlc sakes are accounted for for their games. Meanwhile actual game sales are falling on xbox. For 2 reasons. 1 they can get it for free if it's on game pass which causes the system to sell less copies. And 2 if the game does not release day and date people hold out cause they don't want to potentially waste money which hurts the game sales.
      Also more devs are using game pass due to MS guaranteed money due to the fact nearly all games sells less on that system before game pass was a thing. And with how poor xb1 did in sales it gives unnecessary risks for devs to make games. Hence why game pass exist. It's to fix all the problems that plague that system.
      Oh and more and more devs are signing timed and perma exclusives for Sony now than ever. That's not a sign of devs leaving Sony. That's a sign that devs trust sony's base to make a profit on the project without Xbox. That's shows confidence.
      And that censorship rule is pretty much already gone. It was very short lived and went away after Jim Ryan took over. They are back to the same rules that they been operating under before that. So nice try with that d outdated info.

      First and foremost, the first Xbox was done not to beat anyone but to simply get Microsoft into the console business. Microsoft, starting late overtook Nintendo for second place. Acting as if Sony took the 7th generation with ease is also wrong. The Xbox 360 led for most of the 7th generation and by the time it was over...it was close. Moving along...
      The 8th generation was the most anemic generation in the history of gaming. Both consoles were incredibly weak out of the gates and it really showed. Sony's only saving grace was the 8GB of GDDR5 it came equipped with that at least enabled it to display in 1080p with most games. Microsoft didn't show up to the party until the Xbox One X released and by then it was to late. This new generation is nothing like the last and making the claim that "Microsoft has nothing" is incorrect. Not only do they have most games that are on the PS5 they now have a decent sized list of games that are not on Sony's console. This also doesn't include what the Series X does while running in backwards compatibility mode. I'll put it this way, until you have seen what a Series X does to older games on a 4K screen running full out you simply can't understand. This is the kind of backwards compatibility that we could have only dreamed of in the past. It makes almost every Xbox One game the definitive version and not just with little graphical updates. These old games look and play like full remasters. While the PS5 does similar things running in backwards compatibility it's nowhere near the same amount of games. I have yet to see a game from the 8th generation look better that Metro Exodus running full out on a Series X...we're talking watershed can it run Crysis moment here.
      Microsoft is not the same company they were during the 8th generation. They can smell blood in the water and are coming for Sony. The notion that Microsoft has to "beg" anyone is nothing but fanboy nonsense. Did you know that the PSN is completely powered by Microsoft's Azure networks. Everytime you log into your PlayStation you're supporting Microsoft. I also can't remember a time when Microsoft lost an exclusive to either Sony nor Nintendo. It's happened to Sony twice so far this year. Did you also know that the Xbox Series S/X sold more consoles these past two months than Sony? Begs...that's funniest stuff.

    Glad you liked it this much. :) I think this skit format's kind of a work in progress, but I really like them keeping the Skit Library from Tales of Xillia, meaning if you want to wait on seeing a skit an miss it, it should show up in the campfire later and you can watch it then, though of course it'd be hard to a new player to know that. I also think that while the side quests didn't include a lot in the way of actual side stories, some of the interactions they brought were actually good. :)
    I do think if you switch voice tracks, it just never feels right. Loved the English run of this game, but I remember really not feeling the skits when they first showed them off in Japanese until I got to see them in English later. I really don't think English is 'bad' so much as very different. I think over time, they've leaned more into the differences between acting in Japanese and English, and it just comes down to what clicks with you.
    I think whichever one you're used to, you'll enjoy it immensely in this game. I at least appreciate you saying you respect people for choosing the dub. (especially when you consider this is a series all about accepting people for being different. XD )

      Vesperia is great for gameplay and the characters are, for the most part, decent, but in my opinion the story meanders aimlessly for a long time, the villains (apart from maybe two of them) are really poor and forgettable, and one really annoying party member almost ruined the game for me. Don't be afraid to try the others if Vesperia isn't working for you. They're all different enough that it's worth trying each of them. Personally, Berseria was my favourite of the ones I've played with Symphonia and the two Xillia games as close runners up (then followed by Vesperia).

    Personally I dont notice how good or bad japanese performances are when compared to english ones, because of that I tend to play with english voices on if they are available. I feel like I have an easier time getting invested in a character when I can actually understand what is being said. Unless the voice acting is meme levels of bad *cough* dynasty warriors 3 *cough* in which case ill take the japanese everytime.

      @@Abraun897 I've seen the English voice overs though I played in 100% japanese. Arise has a fairly promising voice cast compared to usual for sure. But Japanese does too with VA's like Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Takuya Satou, Sayuri Hara and Shino Shimoji. While Haruna Ikezawa (the voice of teepo and rollo) is playing Kisara which is funny. This is another cast I feel the English (while a great cast) will fall short on by comparison. These Japanese VA's are just known for certain emotions. Law seems to yell and scream a lot for example and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka is known for feral screaming and yelling. (aside from being Kirito or Bell Cranel of course)

    Vesperia's dungeons were quite good imho, surely on a whole other level compared to recent Tales of Games, to say the least.
    Sure, the later half of the game had dungeons that were basically big mazes that pretty much ended up being "get the more fatigued by fighting the deeper you go" dungeons, but at that point of the game the fighting is the most relevant and developed mechanic, so it kinda makes sense to reserve the most interesting "puzzle as a dungeon" stuff for the first part.

    100% agree about boss difficulty. Every boss fight was using up all of my life bottles, gels, and CP even after modifying strategy to be stingier. It reminded me a lot of the bad, unfair feeling balancing of earlier Tales games like Abyss. But at least in Abyss and Symphonia you can balance it out a bit by playing coop with a friend, a feature that is not present in Arise.
    Bosses need to have like, 30% less health. And also need to not spam their mystic artes when they hit low health.

      Necroing this to AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY. The Ooze boss made me quit the game for a while and then when I came back, I threw it on Story difficulty for the boss only and it felt more in line with what I was expecting for a "normal" mode. I did the same for Ganabelt a couple hrs later as well. I was still pushed to manage CP, boosts, items, artes, equipment loadouts, and learn the bosses' movesets to make it through, but it wasn't oppressive to the point of needing to play perfectly for a 20 minute HP spongefest.

      Even if you can't understand what they're saying, you can still feel the emotions and such in a performance. Not sure how it feels in the game, have only seen a bit in English so far, but in anime in general the English dubs tend to feel awkward. In part due to the animation I imagine, where the talking and visuals don't match, or in an attempt to do so, people talk weirdly, in a way no one would normally. I find most English dubs fall flat or not fitting a character. Not as big of a problem for video games though for the most part.

    I’ve played the free beta and the boost attacks were some of the sickest moves I’ve seen in a jrpg, but the thing that surprised me the most is that there are so many. Not sure if I’ve played or know another jrpg that action and combo oriented, and I love that, the combat system and animations are so smooth in comparison to the previous Tales titles, the transitions between arts and combos were pretty stiff.

    re: bosses
    Same with you. On hard difficulty, I always ended up barely squeaking by with very few items left. That could be a turnoff for those who don't want to grind. But hey, it's part of the fun of JRPGs. And there isn't much grinding needed in this game compared to others.
    But yeah, take time to get strong, learn how to craft accessories, level up, maximize cooking buffs and MOST OF ALL- take time to customize AI commands in the Strategy section. This made me way less frustrated with the AI and massively improve how I'm able to conserve CP in battle which was your main issue with bosses.
    What an enjoyable game. Just finished it yesterday. Love it so much despite its minor flaws (especially in the story and character writing).

The thing is, I don't think English and Japanese actors work the same way. No matter how hard you try, it's never going to not sound weird hearing a completely different voice come out of a character's mouth.

    • @scalpingsnake
      @scalpingsnake 3 года назад

      I do wonder why they do it a day before. It could be a sign they aren't confident but I would bet there is more to it. For example the people who fund Movies are very particular about everything because of the sheer amount of money that goes into big budget films so something as arbitrary as a poster has to be done a certain way (hence why all Superhero movie posters are the same)
      I would assume lifting the embargo a day early could be failsafe, in case the reviews don't do well. It also doesn't spread the hype out, the reviews come out, get people hyped, they buy the game.
