  • This lesson covers the British Tax Acts (beginning in 1764), the first and second Continental Congress, the beginning of the Revolutionary War, and ends with the publishing of Thomas Paine's Common Sense in January 1776. Please note: this video is intended to better understand the establishment of the American government from a political science perspective. For brevity, I omit details that others might include. Further, I refer to the entire British government (parliament included) as "King George," which is common shorthand for the entire British government during this era.
Originally created for an Introduction to Political Science college course, but suitable for High School government students as well.
