    Note: This is the first knife I made and I didn't heat treat it because it didn't occur to me that it should.

    I’ve made several knives from this material light weight really sharp. The metal is hard enough. Yet makes good edge.

    Nice video. Like one of the comments said I too thought saw blades were heat treated. I thought leaf springs, spikes, wrenches and such only needed that. I would love to try this. I can handle cutting out the blade but putting on a handle would give me trouble.

      Surtout au perçage vous aurez besoin d'une très bonne meche moi je l'ai fait avec un poste à souder parce que ici en algerie on a pas de de meche pour percer ce métal. Good luck

    Nice work, however always cover your blade with a paper or old cloth and then wrap some tape to avoid injury to your self while working, and to avoid scratches on the blade polish.

    I was a little worried about installing the blade after reading a couple of reviews. But it was amazingly easy. Took about 1 minute. Works great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxjpBI8OOeUXib_iT7UomCrQ-uauwZJ62c . Cuts easily and is perfect for pocket cuts I needed to make for replacing some old deck boards.

    What drill bit did you use? I can't drill circular saw blades with the bits I have.

      I've tried that....I wonder if maybe a carbide or tungsten bit...I have also tried a masonry bit with no success

      @@randyames992 I use a normal drill bit and have no problem with it.
      Try with a stainless steel drill bit.

      You’re having a hard time drilling because saw blades are hardened steel. If you heat the spot you want to drill with a torch to red hot and let it cool you can drill it easy. Dont get the blade edge red hot you will ruin the hardness.

    I tried cutting a shiny bandsaw blade with an angle grinder but the grinder just slipped off and it was very difficult. Can anyone tell me why?

      Take care, the angle grinder is dangerous.
      It requires experience and good hand control. If you are a beginner, I advise you not to use it.

      Use as thin a grinder wheel as you can find. It will follow your outline much easier that a thicker wheel.

      It is a saw hardened steel, and some say it does not need to be treated.

    Just as well you didn't heat treat it; most of the saw blade knives I've made warped like bananas even before the quench.

      Not sure if it needs it or not but, (from my unknowledgable perspective) isnt the metal already high quality with no further heat treat? Dunno.

    Why not use stanless steel 317 its tougher flexibile durable than clasic steel that rusts and is fragile

      @@musicgurufan8771 In oder to have a saw blade you need a chainsaw which is not that cheap by they way the cost getteing the blade is higher than buying a piece/bar of stainless steel for your project is not that expansive The cost of geting the stanless steel bar is overall cheaper

    It's a cool blade but almost all my attention went to you using a HUGE angle grinder to cut out a SAW BLADE that being held by ONE clamp and you wearing shorts and sandals...jesus christ that's stupid dangerous

      @@woodworkcrafts It is tho, everything is visable, including your one clamp and your shorts and sandals. You are lucky your angle grinder didn't caught the saw blade and have it fly off and chop your leg off
