Update: Hawaii will end its Safe Travels program on March 25th, 2022. This means that U.S. travelers won't have to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination or a negative Covid test to avoid quarantine.
Currently no changes to the restrictions or to the Safe Travel Program for Hawaii despite the state having much lower Covid cases. The Governor has indicated that the restrictions will stay in place at least through the holidays.
Honolulu just announced that businesses will require customers to show either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours in order to enter. Children under 12 years old are exempt. This will be in effect starting on September 13th and will be for valid for the next 60 days and if COVID infection rates do not improve they will move to require mandatory vaccinations.
The Governor of Hawaii is urging tourists not to visit Hawaii through October but has also said he is not banning tourists from visiting Hawaii and currently has no plans to shut down the state. There are no changes to the requirements to enter Hawaii at this time.
Hello, thank you for that information. I was wondering if you are a resident and plan to quarantine not test or vaccinate and you have a layover on another island are you able to get to the other ialand of your residents for quarantine at home?
That is a good question. I am not certain if it is the case for residents of Hawaii, but my my understanding is that you would have to get tested if you want to make the connection to your home island. Otherwise, I think you would be required to quarantine at a hotel for at least 10 days at the island you are arriving into first. You can call 1-800GOHAWAII for more information on this. They would be able to tell you for certain the rule on this.
I believe you still have to get tested even if you only have a layover in Hawaii. If you are vaccinated you won't have to get tested and can instead participate in Hawaii's Vaccine Exception Program. For a definitive answer I would call 1-800-GOHAWAII for the latest on layover requirements.
They prefer to see the physical copy but as long as you have it uploaded into Clear you should be good to go. It just states that must show your vaccination card to the screeners either physically or digitally.
I believe you have one inaccurate but very important clarification to know. You stated kids five and under are exempt. Everything that I have seen indicates kids under the age of five are exempt. In other words if you are five years old, you are not exempt. Can you please clarify and confirm?
You are correct. Thank you for catching my error! Kids UNDER 5 years of age are exempt. I have it correct in the part 1 video but did not state it correctly in this video.
Hawaii has to depend on tourism to keep their economy running. The governor has to decide if shutting the state down to tourists to prevent the spread of Covid is worth more than devastating their economy.

How about those lay over passengers only? Do we need PCR test results

If you are fully vaccinated do you still need a Covid Test? We are traveling the first week of October
No, as long as you meet the requirements of the Vaccine Exception Program you do not need a Covid test. Have a great trip!
Go to the Hawaii Safe Travels website and scan in your vaccine card. Follow the instructions closes on the website.
I already uploaded my vaccine through the clear app do I still need to show my vaccine card?
Yes, bring your vaccination card with you. You will need it to show the screeners either at your boarding gate or once you have arrived in Hawaii.
@@BenDreamVacations and if I don’t have it would there be a problem??

Why haven't they closed the airport. With covid has been going higher than we started.

The airport is a federal airport. By law the state of Hawaii cannot close the airport to tourists.
