What questions can I help answer?
Isn't there a better, more efficient, more customer friendly way of accomplishing the security check for customers with medical implants?
I got a heart recorder, therefore I can expect to be treated like a criminal, just to go through airport security???? 😞
@@thomas1699 The TSA offers an assistance program designed for passengers who need additional assistance through the security checkpoint. The program is called TSA Cares. You can fill out a form to request assistance www.tsa.gov/contact-center/form/cares
That is news to me. I will submit that well before my next travel date. Meanwhile, I won't get my hopes up.
But thank you.
@@thomas1699 Let me know how it goes. I am curious to see what your experience will be using TSA cares.
Years ago when TSA first started screening people,---as I have plates in my back due to surgery, they wanted me to take them out & put them on the conveyor belt for scanning! I told them: " I would if I could as they are a part of me!" I even had a doctor's document stating my condition. They laughed and said "Ok, but we'll scan you anyway ." I still get a chuckle when I think about it. 😅
Don’t wear clothes that have even tiny metal studs on them. I had worn a pair of pants with tiny studs near the waistband. I couldn’t figure out why the alarm was going off.
Best simple informations for me,I’m traveling soon thank you
Thank you
I usually wear ponte knit pants when flying because they're comfortable and look nice at the same time, and they usually cause no issue at security. On my last trip, I unfortunately chose a pair with ribbons going down the ankles through metal loops. Both legs of the trip, I was subjected to a patdown specifically because of those pants. I definitely know better now!
Yeah, those metal loops will trigger a pat down for sure but now you know.
I am diabetic. I have dexcom 6 and also a pump. Do i get something from my doctor .
I have a heart recorder. (Not a pace-maker) I got the full pat down (after a long wait) because my Doctor said I should not go through any scanners. I don't know what they are looking for, but this is a crappy way to treat "customers" with medical implants.
Hi Thomas! I know what it's like as I have 4 metal plates in my back due to surgery. Read my comment if you want to laugh ! 😃
I live in New Zealand
Our Airport Security system is a lot more relaxed and nowhere near as rigid as what appears imposed by the TSA
yeah that's probably b/c your country doesn't have as many people as the US
Ladies & Older people: Don't wear a heavy pad or Depends thru TSA. Wait until you're thru the screening otherwise you'll get pulled aside for an extremely intimate pat down
@@alancooper4368 🤣🤣🤣
How about paniliner?
@@sovyc977 I don't know. I'd imagine thin pads are fine but the thicker ones (like Poise, for incontinence) can get you pulled aside.
@wearelegion1163 I'll be traveling in October. I will be shocked if they pull me to the side. Thank you.
wtf is that a joke??
I can't remove my artificial hip (titanium), but I know it will set off the alarm ...
The TSA offers an assistance program called TSA Cares that is designed to help passengers who have either a disability or a medical implant go through the security checkpoint. You can fill out a form to request assistance www.tsa.gov/contact-center/form/cares
Hi, I have a couple of dressing bandages on my back covering small wounds which are still healing. Can I pass through the security without any hassle?
You will just need to let the security officers know that you have the dressing bandages before you enter the body scanner. That way they know what it is when it shows up on the imaging screen. Other than that you should be able to go through the security process normally without any issues.
I just got a SCS installed, this next Monday will be my flight with it. Best part is my left knee has been replaced also. 😮
@@oldgoat50 It sounds like you have a lot going on with your body. Sorry to hear that. You will just need to let the TSA officers know what you have and they will determine the best way to screen you. Safe travels on Monday.
I went thru TSA with a catheter strapped to my leg. I brought a doctors letter, but no one even questioned why I had a bag strapped to my leg. Going through the checkpoint, the x-ray Cleary showed my catheter strapped to my leg. No one tried to do extra screening, and just in case, I did have a doctors letter
Is getting a note required? I am an amputee and use something called an iwalk which is like a crutch. I will be going on my first ever flight
A doctor's note is not required but it helps if you have one. You will be able to get through security just fine. It just may require some additional screening if you are not able to remove the iwalk. Have a great first flight!
You may also want to look into contacting TSA Cares in order to obtain some additional assistance at security, since this is your first flight.
I was a police officer at a checkpoint. Some clown tried to be funny and take everything off except for his briefs. He went through security but was then held so the airline can check with their GSC and the captain to see if they wanted him flying, He was able to make his flight barely but it dawned on him how stupid that stunt was.
I do not believe this for ONE second. The pilot has NO say if I wear underwear or not.
Don’t wear a money belt. If put through that dangerous x-ray contraption you’ll be flagged for additional screening, as I was.
Im wearing hair clipps because of my health ..i have operation of my breast cancer and i dont like that they saw my picture of that ..How to avoid that if i can.
First, I am so sorry to hear you are battling breast cancer. You can actually opt out of going through the body scanners. You just have to say that you opt out but just know that doing so will require a full body pat down from a TSA agent. I hope cancer treatments are going well for you. Keep fighting!
@@BenDreamVacations hey what is body pot.im from Croatia and maybe not excellent with English.Do you know maybe what is procedure to fly from croatia to neetherlands
@@BenDreamVacations i get it on googlr play that is when they touching my body .Then other question stay and what about hair clipps
For hair clips, you can request a private screening if they need to inspect your hair.
Hey i check we dont have here control like yours only i go on metal detect for me is easier do that .Im so afraid of flight i never flying and i sad that i never go with airplane ..my flight is tommorow and i so stressed about that thank you for you answers and maybe you know can i bring my hairdryer
It’s a thing BUT I lost 120 lbs 10 years ago and always get an additional pat down due to my loose skin……weird but true.
First, congrats on losing the weight. That's amazing! I didn't know loose skin could trigger a pat down. That's good to know. Thanks for sharing
Boxer briefs like Pair of Thieves brand trigger a croch alarm every time with me. The machine thinks there's something there that I'm smuggling
Me too. Get a red dot on my crotch. Get swabbed down for explosives. Have to fly this summer. Hope I make it.
I always wear my lead diving belt and hiking boots
Good idea!
Where should we keep jewellery
Simple earrings and rings are ok to keep on but for everything else you should keep your jewelry in your carry-on or personal item luggage.
I've never had to take off my hoodie.
or maybe tsa should be looking at how it is done around the world.........
Can we were a wrist watch.
It depends on the watch. Smart watches are ok to keep on but if you are wearing a watch with metal components then it's going to be best to store it in your bag until you are through security.
can i ware pig tails Through air port security
Yes, as long as you are not using any metal to hold your pig tails.
I create the embarrassing situation ON PURPOSE as it is a total waste of time. I take my belt off,if required, and guess what my butt is there to see for everybody. And the good thing is, NOBODY can say anything, especially in the USA.
I truly HATE tip one "Shoes that are easy to slip on and off" ,,,,, there is an emergency on the plane your easy to slip off shoes have flown through the cabin and you are endeavouring to exit a plane with bare feet..
Y wouldn’t someone just get the TSA precheck and avoid all this? We did
If someone only flies only once or twice a year or less it may not be worth it for that person to pay for precheck. I think it's worth the cost even if you don't fly that often. It saves so much time.
@@BenDreamVacations we got the pre check for a cruise this Sunday and maybe in the fall. We feel it’s so worth the $78
@@barbarakroth6855 agreed! It’s worth gold.
@@BenDreamVacations guess I’ll c how it works at JFK and SeA
disband the tsa.
Can I wear a wig
Yes, you can wear a wig but if it contains metal clips then they are going to want to inspect it. In this case you can request a private screening room where they may ask you to take it off.
