I earned an MBA degree from a top 10 Biz school. Ten years later, I am even ashamed to put that three letter word in my profile. MBA is a jack of all trades, master of zilch. I advanced my engineering degree with a PhD. and a Professional Engineer license. Could not be more happier. Edit: The PE license has enabled me to take side jigs in trades and I am able to remodel my home and stamp it.
Well said and well done. I got into programming and the love affair continues to date. Doing what I wanted with ample budget as backing and never looked back. The moment we know our passion we need to chase it down.. else we end up doing something we don't like for someone who won't like us either.
I'm in the same situation brother. My PhD was useless. I went to the Industry, started at the bottom, and have 10 years of experience now. I'm working on my Cpeng status.
It's a good thing btw. Look what happened to Boeing bcoz of MBAs. Silicon Valley companies are good example when engineers become CEOs and run the company well.
Why don't the MBA courses focus on entrepreneurship with management? It is also an exposure of the lack of foresight of the MBA training providers themselves
MBA are useless. Better learn a manual skill welding ,, tailoring , woodwork, roofing , painting, metal work or electronics repair will give you far more return on investment.
Return on Investment is not only one factor in this whole play of studying MBA but the target is to leave the earning band of 13-15 Lakhs p.a. if a person wanted to earn only this much then Bachelors would have provided with that in 3-4 years.
Boeing being run by MBAs is no longer building airplanes that fly without incident, while Airbus is run by Aviation engineers Intel being run by MBAs is like a decade behind in semiconductor technology, while AMD is run by semiconductor engineers MBAs would make great MBA run intuitions as they are expensive to study in!.
This is true. That's precisely why AMD is giving top competition to ARM.. MBA in my view is a requirement. But in the age of disruption, the makers make more than they used to... They're not too much into money anyways. A decade down the line funds will sit with the makers, let the games begin.
BBA died now MBA trend is dying too next is DBA in demand will be required for CEO positions going forward. But for Aviation and other industries DTech engineers will be viable option to serve. Masters going Doctorates coming.
Companies are after nerds and that's where they pay top notch package. Management professionals are easily available and they do an excellent job. They will continue to be in demand. Corporate has realised we need do'ers not show'ers.
The degrees are not enough. The world is changing...you have to have skills that are relevant to day not 2 years ago. Colleges and universities are years behind on the job market. Especially when it comes to the IT sector.
I got myself THREE degrees (AAS, BA, MA) over the years, all from accredited educational institutions, and all in-person classes. I worked VERY hard to get thru all of that education. Know what I do? I’m a union bus driver with the city I’m at. I’m a happy man, make almost $30 an hour, get incredible benefits, vacation days, and retirement from the city government, and I’m only at work about 36-37 hours a week. I ain’t complaining about nothing. I tried everything I could to get a fancy job with my educational qualifications, but nothing happened. I got only about fifteen years to retirement now, and I’m okay. Good business is where you find it.
Just don't come to NZ for an MBA course, your chances of getting a job are less than slim. Simply because the vast majority of managers only have a diploma or certificate. Why would they hire an MBA, lowering their ego? I have seen Indian students with MBA working as checkout operators.
It’s time we stop this madness of college or so called certificates. It’s amazing thing to happen and we don’t need uneducated morons with certificates roaming around. It’s time we make skillset and competence as priority and not college scam
Thanks Palki. Even while pursuing my MBA I felt it was simply a paper degree. I went ahead to comple a professional certification which is more practical and job relevent. Can you provide skills that are in demand in India?
This was the most prestigious credential years ago. Everyone was working hard to achieve at the graduate levels. Permit me to describe this credential as a golden asset into upper Mgt. Agree Palki, the novelty of the MBA has lost its prestige. Technology has brought so many changes in the business arena
We need more MBAs. Otherwise, the proof is right here. She ignores that over 75% got a job and uses 23% of unemployed MBAs only three months after graduation to generalize that MBAs are worthless.
When you don’t want to hire at current wages : Lack of skill. When your sales drop : Market demand is slow. Why don’t say, production quality is lacking?. It’s just double speak.
There is no job crisis for folks with MBAs. It's just the market adjusting to lower demands/realities. Like all college degrees or with MBAs, having one doe not guarantee employment. It does give you a better chance at obtaining better employment.
Me an MBA also......but in India it is never above CA/CS/CMA. Later on I pursued CMA......no use of MBA. This degree do not give potential knowledge. Only teach presentation......bus aur kuch nahi.
Actually that's not true.. fact is mba jobs are declining.. But ai is not the reason.. infact coding jobs are easier to replace with ai.. Simply coz mba jobs are mainly about decision making which involves understanding of complex social fabric and real human stakes while coding jobs are very logical and methodical in nature..
Education does not all the time means to get job. Do your own business especially if some one is master in business n administration. Let's see what Harvard taught them.
I strongly advise all students to research and learn about Agentic AI before choosing your college courses. This AI technology is under rapid development to take away your corporate jobs, especially MBA jobs.
small iims only 3 to 4 are good , otherwise all are like private B-schools , even some private colleges like MDI , FMS better than many iims , currently in iim-nagpur According to me IIM bodh gaya , vizag , amritsar are fine , jammu , sambalpur , sirmaur are doing really bad ut somehow able to place students not all but some .
Having a Degree but not the Knowledge + Attitude towards work is the New Normal in INDIA .. I wish to hire at my side but am unable to offer as Gen Z is looking for comfort on day 1
These mba guys only do nonsense chattering in the business mettings on the other way businesses are only successful if ur product fits the pocket of people along with durability and for this sensible think u don't need to hire a guy with mba degree and pay him in 6 digits .This is utter crap !

If you don't have leadership qualities/team management abilities and can't get the job done the MBA degree just becomes a piece of paper
So MBA should be abandoned? And local goons has more management skill as local politician
It's like with martial arts. If someone's a wimp, they'll still be a wimp.
It's a good thing btw. Look what happened to Boeing bcoz of MBAs. Silicon Valley companies are good example when engineers become CEOs and run the company well.
Agree 👍. Engineering is all about developing analytical skills. Possibly the reason engineers make better CEOs.
Why don't the MBA courses focus on entrepreneurship with management? It is also an exposure of the lack of foresight of the MBA training providers themselves
I burnt my mba certificate before five years back. Waste of time and money 😮😮
Really?

Defenetely ❤❤
Very wise advice 👍

I came back to India with Harvard MBA and working in a good job......India has so many jobs.....
Are you Harvard business school graduate?
Because they are only good at power point presentation
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏👏
This is the problem.
and talking gibberish non stop 😂

It is just time for nerds! Proud to be nerd!
We need to look at the IAS/IPS/IFS selection process also. Now a days bookworms without any experience in any field are getting into the service!
About time companies realized this!

Mba degrees are either too expensive or not worth it😢
Skilled workers are more in demand in the USA 🇺🇸 and Canada 🇨🇦 .
Of course, getting a visa for these jobs is a different issue.
6 figure salary ? That is not even enough to make ends meet
Thanks Palki. Even while pursuing my MBA I felt it was simply a paper degree. I went ahead to comple a professional certification which is more practical and job relevent. Can you provide skills that are in demand in India?
Indian students need to be given more exposure to different careers right from high school to make a good career choice.
Now I don`t want to study. If only I have started Instagram cringe video, I would be richer than I am today and giving my fee to institute.
Nowadays education is a comedy
Can you also talk about the state of unemployment faced by Indians in India, even from premier institutes like IIT?
This was the most prestigious credential years ago. Everyone was working hard to achieve at the graduate levels. Permit me to describe this credential as a golden asset into upper Mgt. Agree Palki, the novelty of the MBA has lost its prestige. Technology has brought so many changes in the business arena
MBA is outdated. Those who treated others as resources are paying the price
Now DBA is the future. Having Dr. In front of the name makes certain kinds of people believe they will earn annually in crores.
Because harvard degrees are t_paper
We need more MBAs. Otherwise, the proof is right here. She ignores that over 75% got a job and uses 23% of unemployed MBAs only three months after graduation to generalize that MBAs are worthless.
Many mba who got a job are probably taking low skilled job.
When you don’t want to hire at current wages : Lack of skill.
When your sales drop : Market demand is slow. Why don’t say, production quality is lacking?. It’s just double speak.
Everyone wants to be on the positive side huh

Valuable moments of ground realities
Doesn't tell the full story. Graduates in specialized fields find themselves unemployed at similar, if not worse rates. Its across the board
You are educated not to get job (be an employee). Rather you are educated to be free from ignorance 😮
@Palki...
Its a miracle how firstpost is still able to pay you so long without putting a single contribution to the team!!!
God bless you!
LOL at 0:43. That's Howard, not Harvard.
Because AI taken away jobs of MBA not coders 😂 actually coders can do better.
Actually that's not true.. fact is mba jobs are declining..
But ai is not the reason.. infact coding jobs are easier to replace with ai..

It's time to give up on colleges and try something else.
Can an Ahemedabad IIM graduate replace Palki Sharma?? If not then they will offcourse be jobless without skills.
small iims only 3 to 4 are good , otherwise all are like private B-schools , even some private colleges like MDI , FMS better than many iims , currently in iim-nagpur
According to me IIM bodh gaya , vizag , amritsar are fine , jammu , sambalpur , sirmaur are doing really bad ut somehow able to place students not all but some .
That's why you learn how to service and fix ac.
I dropped out of college 16 yrs ago
Ek kahavt rahi ba ….oo ram chandar keh gaye siya se … go woke te go broke

Thanks
Soon an AI news anchor avatar of Palki sharma on the way 😅
Phew! I was just about to go to Harvard but at the last moment I got me a Porche sports car instead. The car got me a rich girl and now I am rich!
Reality
Over Qualify? Or 23% of school education is just degree?
Useless degree
Degree with real job prospects!?
Great! This is the result of woke DEI policies at Harvard.
@@prietya9906 strongly disagree. Supply and demand. Too much supply. They don't do woke in India
Hej
U nas są miejsca pracy.
Po Harwardzie przecież też przyjmują.
Jak potrzeba, mogę pomóc pokierować karierą zawodową.
Serio mówię.

Ivy League is overrated…..
Expected low quality university in 2025

Having a Degree but not the Knowledge + Attitude towards work is the New Normal in INDIA .. I wish to hire at my side but am unable to offer as Gen Z is looking for comfort on day 1
Actually, MBAs are overrated. Hire Engineers with common sense biz knowledge.
MBA = Maha beggar’s association 😂
Married but Available😏
These mba guys only do nonsense chattering in the business mettings on the other way businesses are only successful if ur product fits the pocket of people along with durability and for this sensible think u don't need to hire a guy with mba degree and pay him in 6 digits .This is utter crap !
