How I Created a Whitetail Deer Painting

This whitetail deer painting was inspired by the background rather than the subject. As the sun dipped low in the horizon one November afternoon I couldn't help but visualize this handsome couple basking in the warm light.

There isn’t a mount just the pic of the killed deer. I’m just doing head and shoulders. I used an app to turn the head and I’ve opened his eyes in my sketch because they were pretty much closed. Not a great reference photo. But I’ve been researching eyes and faces.
