So basically, it only work if whatever you are trying to spell out is more than half of what you are doing. Ill make variables to make it more easier to understand. Ill represent B at bottom card, O for other cards, and S for whatever we are spelling. Suppose this, BOSSS, We are spelling out 3 S's, which go to bottom. SSSBO, Now, since it was more than half, the S's wont be in order, but the amount will always be on top of the B, OBSSS, now spelling out a third time just removes those S's, leaving the top card, SSSOB
This trick is absolutely wild thank you so much. Me and my little daughter are trying to tweak it as we are not that confident as you dealing with public, so we are going to ask them to shuffle completely, pick the top 17 cards (so it's definitely a third), casino washing shuffle and then line them up before the spelling. that way it literally ALWAYS works even with the longest word - seven of diamonds
It doesn't work with a full deck. I haven't worked out the math limits but it's safe to say you need beteeen 20 and 30 cards. All the cards in the deck spelled out will be from 10 to 15 letters. When I do this I don't want them to take too many or too few cards so I just tell them to pick any 25 cards they want and memorize one and place it on the table then you put the rest on top. Then it goes from there. If they get funny and pick the joker you can spell joker of jokers.

You have to be absolutely certain that the spectator cuts exactly 1/3 of the deck or else the trick will fail
Not true. It doesn’t have to be exact. As long as the card you spell gets you past the halfway mark of the cards they cut, it will work.
It doesn’t work all the time. Trying doing with queen of diamond/ diamonds
Did not work with nine or six, however works every time with seven
