@@Dr_Wrong This reminds me of the trick I was taught as a child. You make many piles that add up to 13. If the first card is an ace it has 13 cards, if a king one. Then have them choose a deck and set it aside. Then have them choose any other two decks. Combine the other decks, then count out the value of the top cards of the other two decks. Now count out ten more cards. The number of cards left is the value of the top card of the first chosen deck, that was set aside. Isn't math wonderful.
Lol... that's the idea of the tutorial... Mr wizard. I'm one too. There was a trick I came across a few years back that it freaks everyone out. You cut the deck in half and turn up a red and black card. You hand them the pile and say they are to focus on red and black (cards are upside down of course). You never touch the cards and get them to shuffle as much as they want then place the card on whatever colour card they think it is. Give them the second half (you make up some bull about doing the whole deck at once is too much for most and get them to clear their minds... whatever) then they do it again. There are 4 piles of card only they have touched... and shuffled. When you turn over all 4 piles ALL the colours are the same (so card pile red and black you started with turned face up have all the same colour underneath). It really freaks out EVERYONE. don't know why I thought of that trick and went on about it.... its the most mind boggling trick I know....cheers.
I feel a better way to mask this trick would be to remove two cards from the deck during the reveal. For example, if you're looking for the 19th card you could remove the 10th card and the 19th card and place them side by side. Then ask the spectator to choose one of the two. If they choose the 10th card you remove it, if they choose the 19th card you reveal it. Adds an extra layer and doesn't make it seem so mathmatical.
Everyone knows how those false choices work it's not that great of an effect. The audience member wants to know beforehand if they are picking to remove or choose.
@SeanithanEgan you'll like another such card force trick you can do with 9 cards [Cont. after this trick] You take out 9 cards out of the pack, and you already know which one is theirs, so you keep an eye on it. •You then take two cards in hand and ask the spectator to select one, and that'd be rejected. ((You need to always choose two cards which are not their one.)) •Then, they'd pick up two cards, and you have to reject one. ((Since you know what card is theirs, you'll always reject the other one)) •This way, if you have 9 cards, in the end it'll be the spectator picking up the last two cards, and you'll reject the random card, and the spectator will be left with their card in their hand, and very stumped. -also, you can reorder the nine cards down on the table after each rejection session, that'll make it less sus when the spectator sees thru that you are neither picking one particular card, nor rejecting it. [I saw this trick in mismag822's vid, it was named Force Factor iirc]

Love tricks like this because the actual manipulation your doing is super simple and the majority of the truck is just math. I learned a similar one years ago that requires no deck manipulation at all to the point where you can have the spectator do the trick for you and it works every time.
Looks simple enough for me to mess up! Thanks! Will give this a shot - always wanted to learn some card tricks so this seems like a good starting point.
I used an illustrated Chinese deck of cards to add mystique (and misdirection). Then I Introduced the "ancient Chinese Shuffle" at the end by pairing the bottom cards ("Green Dragons") with the top cards ("Red Dragons"). Finally I reshuffled the spectator's counted stack and placed it face down on the table, nimbly lifting off some "dragon breath" from the top of it and placing this invisible smoke onto the (as yet unrevealed) selected card, slowly lifting my hand away and opening my fingers out wide. The spectator then turned over his own card, completely gobsmacked. Foo Ling Yu
That was good thinking! All good stuff. Definitely Adding to the mystique. Unfortunately, with this trick, I spotted what was going on here immediately,. (2024 November 10) i tried this trick on 2 people and it went great. To their surprise, I got both of their cards correct. I love this trick, thank you soo much, we truly had fun.
A better way to involve the spectator in the reveal at the end, is to hand *them* the deck, and take for yourself the previously cut stack. Then have you and them *simultaneously* count cards from the top. When you run out of cards in your pile, ask the spectator to flip over their next card, and voila. You can also do this in reverse, so you have the deck and they have the cut stack, as long as you both count out your cards at the same time. Either way, the idea is that there's no time during the trick where the magician knows in advance how many cards are in the cut stack and could pull any last minute slight of hand.
this is one of my favorite opening tricks to get the mysteries started. No set up needed and start like its quick and easy then convoluted at the end helps mask the solution and it is as fun for me as the spectator.
Great trick. My son (8 years old) is very interested in magic, so he really likes tricks like these where he can perform without too much sleight of hand.
This is a brilliant trick! It reminds me of 'A Good Match' from Harry Blackstone's book "Tricks anyone can do."(A great book by the way) I noticed when playing around with this trick it actually does work with different numbers of cards in the deck. So you could do this with less than 52 cards (or more) the thing you would need to keep track of is how many cards you have in your deck. if it is an even number you can do the trick like normal and it will work. If you have an odd number you flip over the last counted card (aka the card previous to the normal card you would flip over as presented in the tutorial) and the trick still works. This is a fantastic gem of a magic trick. I highly recommend adding it to your set list.
you mean like his dissappearing cube when people are holding it on all sides ... yeah he just shoves his hands together after a slide and then finger tips the package into his wide open sleeve ... saw him do that one on a kids show and you can plainly see the cube getting tossed UP his sleeve

I came on youtube this morning to maybe learn a card trick. This one is perfect. I will go and get my deck and try it along with you. Many thanks my friend.
Great trick! The one way to take the counting of the cut pile out of it is to take 2 or 3 parts of the cut pile and add them up in your mind. But with each part you cut, fan them in front of the spectator asking the to look at the cards you are showing them. Say...'by looking and confirming their selected card is not there, they are sending the message to you which card they selected.' Then you csn either reveal their card in 1 of 2 ways: 1) By silently counting from the selected pilelike shown in the video until you reveal their card. 2) Or by fanning them facing you to count and know their card. Once known, quicky stop and say, "let's make this even more random so truly only your mind is telling me what the csrd is. Then mess the cards up on the table either face up or face down. Pick out the card if messed face up, or if you mess the pile face down keep your fingers on the selected card as you mess them up, and 'search' and turn over their card.
With this card trick and the rubber band trick , l am now ready to hit the bars. Oh wait, CoVid got every bar in town locked up for good. This magic trickery is over rated in 2020😡🤬🤦🏻♀️🙋🏻♂️
The trick was awesome.I even tried it.Person watching this video and shall have came to see weather it worked or not then listen,it truly worked.I just loved this trick.
When you work this one out using simple algebra you will realize that the two jokers and two advertizing cards could have been left in the pack and then split them into 28:28 stacks instead of 26:26. It is irrelevant as to how many cards you have as long as you have equal stacks at the start. You could use two full packs of different designs which gives 52:52 stacks.
The math behind this trick is simple - once they cut x cards you're left with their pile of 26-x cards, their selection and 25 cards on top. There will always be less cards under their selection than on top of it. By dealing one from top and one from bottom you just get rid of 26-x cards from bottom and top to a point where you're left with pile with their selection on bottom and x-1 cards on top
I fail to believe this. I figured the trick out the first time he did it and as soon as he did the top, bottom card shuffle towards the end I already knew the left over deck and math was involved. The only thing I didn't catch the first time is whether the card was forced to the top or bottom, but the false shuffle was obvious.
@@chrisstiles7384 ...I knew how it was done before the explanation which was the entire purpose of my comment. I actually do study a lot of magic, while not being a magician myself. The trick was pretty simple.
Mlt please tell us which magic trick will you perform if you get a chance to perform in front of a great magician like penn or teller or shin lim or dynamo, etc?????? And..... Almost 400K subscribers!!!!!!!!!!! Best of luck 👍👍👍👍❤️
@@dennisfontler7443 Youre a idiot Everytime Shin come to Penn & Teller they even say they know how he do this Shim lim literally do simple basic stuff he just perform it epic lul You truly dont know what magic is.
Add one more trick: deal the final counted cards out face up, stopping when their picked card shows. Now take the next card from the pack and hold it so it can't be seen. Say, "what do you bet the next card I turn over will be yours?" Of course, they can see their card is already turned over and will bet $$$. Take their card from the pile and turn it over. A cheesy twist.
You can also have the audience member shuffle the deck and deal out the 26 cards in two piles at the beginning. Next you can have them make the cut in either half pile as well as shuffle the cards in the second half pile choosing the target card all without the magician touching the deck. The more the cards remain in the mark's hands the better. In the tutorial, at 6:52, I don't think it matters which of the two remaining piles you choose to put the half deck (the pile with the forced card on the bottom). The trick will continue to work as shown.
I've used two people. One deals the cards, 26 to each (with me telling them this is to assure its a standard deck of 52 cards). Then one cuts their pile, and the other picks the card. You mostly address the one that picked the card, but at the end you say something like "I have no idea where the card is, do you? But you know who does? That guy" pointing to the one that had cut the cards. Have the cutter then count their cards.
If you have the spectator simply replace their selection to the top of the other deck and continue from there, you can have the spectator do the entire trick without you ever having to touch the cards.
New sub here....I just saw your video and I tried it out. This is a lot of fun and it worked perfectly. I'm gonna keep practicing and show my daughter. Thanks.
For everyone who wants to know, how the trick mathematically works. Amount of cards after shuffling: 26+(26-x) Position of selection: Amount-(26-x)*2 =26+(26-x)-(26-x)*2 =26+26-x-52+2x =x (x is the amount of cards the spectator has cut)
One side 26-x other side 26+x Chosen card is x cards from the bottom of 26+x stack when the 26 are placed on top of the x cards. Removing x cards from the bottom gets to the chosen card but when taking a card from the top also, 2x cards are placed down leaving 26+x-2x = 26-x on top which is the number of the other stack. This works for all equal stacks whether 26:26 split or a 20:20 split or even a 123:123 split as long as the split is equal.
Well done. It's not difficult to see how these types of 'trick' work if you understand the underlying algebra. Bottom line is that they're merely a dressed up version of something like "pick a number, add 5, subtract the number you picked..... and the answer is 5" - with a deck of cards used to perform the counting.
My first thought was that there must be a smooth way to get them to count off or turn over the cards in the small deck while you count off the big deck in parallel so that when they are turning over the last card you are turning over the chosen card. On the other hand, it is probably better to switch who does which pile so they don't think that you must have done some sleight of hand in the final step.
I just stumbled upon this video. I love mathematical card tricks. I used to know one that you did some manipulation like that and it would always be the 11th card in the deck that was the selected one. This one is pretty cool! Thanks for sharing

Last part: you can simultaneously have them count through their packet while you mirror/copy them with the other packet. More engaging and seems more honest (even though you’re not mis-counting or doing anything tricky)
Yes, that is what I thought, to make it seem more like magic. The way I would do it, would be to say something like: "OK, your card is definitely in this pile, but to be sure lets look at the cards in this discard deck and flip them out "showing" them that their card isn't there (but secretly getting the count).
This is such a cool card trick!!! I tried it on my family and I fooled them all. Thank you so much for posting this video. I have been trying to find a card trick forever, and this was the best one ever!!!
Easy mathematics. The spectator "chooses" a number by cutting the one pile. If I was a maths teacher, I'd call that number x, but as I am not a maths teacher but a mathematician, I'll call that number Bert. Because I want it and I don't like x. So, ok, now you put Bert cards aside and leave (26-Bert) cards on the other pile. Now you let the spectator choose his card and put it on the bottom of the other pile which you place on top of the other. The pile now holds (52-Bert) cards with the chosen card on position 26 from the top or ((26-Bert)+1) from the bottom (which is in fact (27-Bert)). The important thing is: If Bert is bigger then 1, it is in the bottom half of that pile as there are 25 cards on top of it, but only (26-Bert) cards under it. (If Bert is equal to 1, the cards is exactly in the middle and the trick is trivial.) By now "mixing" the deck with 1from bottom, one from top, you'll get the card to position (2*(27-Bert)-1) from the bottom, which is (53-2*Bert). Now remeber that your pile has (52-Bert) cards and to find out in which position the card is from the top, we have to substract the position from the bottom and add 1: (52-Bert) - (53-2*Bert) + 1= 53-53 + 2*Bert - Bert = Bert. So your card is, surprise, in position Bert from the top of the deck. Now you are free to substitute "Bert" by "x" if you think that's easier to read and read the explanation again if you didn't understand. And maybe this didn't only explain you how that trick worked, but also a little about the mindset of mathematicians. :D
I did the trick to myself and I was suprised that it was actually my Card xD

Thanks very much for this interesting card trick, it is a very smart trick with little math involved, no difficult to figure it out.
I've been doing sleight of hand magic for 30+ years, and I have to be honest that fooled the hell out of me!! Great video thanks.
People are usually sceptical and figure out that the trick is in the one time unusual cut.
I fail to believe this. I figured the trick out the first time he did it and as soon as he did the top, bottom card shuffle towards the end I already knew the left over deck and math was involved. The only thing I didn't catch the first time is whether the card was forced to the top or bottom, but the false shuffle was obvious.
@@aaronswords404 of course you did, everyone's an expert after it's been explained.
@@chrisstiles7384 ...I knew how it was done before the explanation which was the entire purpose of my comment. I actually do study a lot of magic, while not being a magician myself. The trick was pretty simple.
Hey, thanks MLT very much appreciated. Great trick. Great presentation all around.
Mlt please tell us which magic trick will you perform if you get a chance to perform in front of a great magician like penn or teller or shin lim or dynamo, etc??????
And.....
Almost 400K subscribers!!!!!!!!!!!
Best of luck 👍👍👍👍❤️
hey shin lime nothing compared to penn and teller, david copperfield or lennart green
@@shubhsaxena8745
Shin Lim just makes tricks neither Penn, Teller or David understand how they're done..
@@dennisfontler7443 Youre a idiot
Everytime Shin come to Penn & Teller they even say they know how he do this
Shim lim literally do simple basic stuff he just perform it epic lul
You truly dont know what magic is.
I've decided to start learning card tricks for my nephew. I think this is gonna crush. Thank you. :)
How do you do this?
@@theslayersshotgun9201just a play on words. you didn’t say turn over the card in the other deck so u just turn over their card lol
Wow this is very neat card trick
Very cool! Definitely adding to my routine!
I knew this trick but it's still a wonderful one! Thanks for uploading it! Magically yours!
Wow, thanks!
Just subbed! Thank you for teaching these card tricks. I am trying to learn 1 card trick every week! Cheers Sir! 😁
Thanks for the sub!
@@MLTMagicTricks Your welcome!
Wow! My mouth dropped when I did it myself!!!
lol we here 3 years later😅
Thanks MLT for this amazing card trick. My family were Fooled. Thx :-)
Awesome trick! Took me a few but I got it right! Thanks!
the only real trick here is the holding of the chosen card on the bottom ... after that it is just basic math
Thanks a lot. and people who said didn't work they made something wrong because. It worked for every time. Thank you again.
If you have the spectator simply replace their selection to the top of the other deck and continue from there, you can have the spectator do the entire trick without you ever having to touch the cards.
Oh yeah, that's a neat idea. My only concern would be that they do not do the top+bottom pull correctly.
That will however definitely point to that this is a pure mathematics. When the performer does it you are not so sure
I'm looking for simple, effective tricks that I can practice to show my son (8). This is perfect!
New sub here....I just saw your video and I tried it out. This is a lot of fun and it worked perfectly. I'm gonna keep practicing and show my daughter. Thanks.
I was following the tutorial and actually chose 2 of clubs like you did!
Ahh, I love the 6th Edition of Orbit Decks.
This WORKS I was amazed. Congrats
Awesome, thanks MLT for such wonderful instruction and being a true inspiration 😀
Agree
This trick Is pretty cool !....thank you very much !!.....Its a piece of cake
For everyone who wants to know, how the trick mathematically works.
Amount of cards after shuffling:
26+(26-x)
Position of selection:
Amount-(26-x)*2
=26+(26-x)-(26-x)*2
=26+26-x-52+2x
=x
(x is the amount of cards the spectator has cut)
it´s eseier than that any number plus or minus zero will allways equal that number and that is where your card is
One side 26-x other side 26+x
Chosen card is x cards from the bottom of 26+x stack when the 26 are placed on top of the x cards.
Very nice trick....and easy. Just a little bit of practise...Thanks,
My first thought was that there must be a smooth way to get them to count off or turn over the cards in the small deck while you count off the big deck in parallel so that when they are turning over the last card you are turning over the chosen card. On the other hand, it is probably better to switch who does which pile so they don't think that you must have done some sleight of hand in the final step.
Amazing and easy card trick. Thanks!!!
MLT: you can't screw up
Me: Screws up first try
आपके कार्ड ट्रिक्स से बहुत ही कुछ सीखने को मिल रहा है।।
hey mlt how are you?
i love your cards
These tricks are easy to spot, always look at the way the person is holding the deck. clear indicator of what he's doing with said cards.
I just stumbled upon this video. I love mathematical card tricks. I used to know one that you did some manipulation like that and it would always be the 11th card in the deck that was the selected one. This one is pretty cool! Thanks for sharing
I just watched that one. Three EASY Card Tricks You can Learn In 5 MINUTES
Oh the one where u get 21 cards and split In 3 groups 4 times and the 4th time the 11 card is the one they picked
I can't wait to show this to my son. Thank you!
I wish I have a deck of cards like yours and I really love your videos but my mother and father cant afford a deck of cards like yours because my birthday is coming next week biggest fan of yours from Philippines😇

This trick works! Just did it to myself. Be sure to follow the tutorial exactly.
This is so legit
I love this trick!!! its the first trick i have learned thanks
That is awesome!
What if they pick just 1 or 2 cards when you ask them to cut ? Does it still work ?
Yes it does
I watched this three times and amazingly beyond belief your spectator chose the two of clubs each time.
Am the first to watch the video at this second!
Great trick. Easy and the effect is powerful..... cheers.

Wow this is an awesome self working trick …will definitely use it.
Thanks 4 the tutorial😊
Glad you liked it!
When I was trying to fallow steps I also chose 2 of clubs
Same lmao
I just did the same thing
Thanks I amazed a lot of people with this trick
How can the card be exactly 18 cards after
I mean how can the chosen card number matches with the selected pile?
(If Bert is equal to 1, the cards is exactly in the middle and the trick is trivial.)
By now "mixing" the deck with 1from bottom, one from top, you'll get the card to position (2*(27-Bert)-1) from the bottom, which is (53-2*Bert).
@@ThamiorSilberdrache Thanks for typing that out, I was hoping since the magician didn't explain the math, someone would.
