Dice: “We’re dropping the single player campaign so we can put all our man power into working on multiplayer” Me: “okay… so then why is the beta so half assed..?”
It all went into the plans for monetization of the "hero" characters they are gonna release down the lane. And also, gotta get it out before the holidays.
Im 99 percent sure that after launch the full focus will be on the Specialist customizations which will undoubtedly be for sale on day one with some sort of currency that you buy from another currency that can be exhanged for some other currency. Im predicting EA has finally killed DICE with their middle management bullshit. All those removed features reek of a project manager whom has never played a good battlefeild game and doesnt really give ashit what kind of game their makng as long as it has the the skeleton of something useful as a loot sales tool.
DICE is lying. A beta is supposed to be for giving feedback to developers about glitches and game play. How can they receive feedback from a two month old beta build..? Hate to admit it, but BF2042 is DOA and officially on the NO BUY LIST...!
Lol yeah After halo had that humbling feedback from the fanbase they really turned it around, Bf needs to put effort into making a both smooth and grand game based around what the fans want while also pushing the bar of innovation like Infinite has.
@@Fly6lights innovation? What has halo infinite done new? I'm genuinely curious lol. Only new thing I saw was the grappling hook which many games already have
Classes were a necessity foundation to Battlefield's core formula. There isn't any squad cohesion having specialists focusing on teamwork playing supporting roles. Not to mention the specialists kind of ruin the distinction between friend and foe. Battlefield right now has somewhat of an identity crisis, and is straying too far from the essence catering towards other audiences
Every BF game I have played I've never hardly seen any team work, never get anyone dropping stuff I pick up more from other team members but I agree from what I've read it's not BF
Sounds like they were making a BR and after testing it knew it was DOA, so now they make a trailer that acts like they are returning to roots. Only to show us the most mindless and pointless shooter I’ve playing in awhile. No team focus, no chat, it’s obvious they didn’t want a chat box so we could talk to each other about how god awful this is. The Shills are working hard, great time for people to spot the rats.
Bigfry pointed this out on his video (something I originally missed) but specialists dont have any form of distinction between either team side (like camo etc.) and considering the UI still labels US/RU when the lore is suppose to be "no-pats" instantly gave me red flags that specialists were a very recent addition to the game making me wonder "what changed" and how much of the game was actually thought about with specialists in mind (probs very little) if they couldnt even be bothered to change the UI elements that got copy pasted from old BF titles lmao.
@@extraordinarilybasic3250 very good point, we're seeing with the absolute garbage heap that is Ghost Recon: Frontline that some developers may have pursued this formula too hard.

@@theogknight2292 The reason you haven't seen campaign yet is because they've been fixing bugs. They've stated as much. They also said they will show campaign before launch.
This beta looks bad, but thankfully EA/DICE never release buggy, unfinished products so I think we can all relax and expect a meticulous, finely tuned product at launch...
It’s pretty obvious the CEOs at EA were drooling over Warzone/Fortnite $$ numbers and told the devs to make it more like what the kids want so they can max out mom/dads credit card
Well thank god one of them pulled though, was really optimistic about battlefield and was almost certain it was going to be my main game to play. But halo my god the halo flights where really good. I mean I was hyped for both but with halo I was more uncertain with that game since the e3 reveal. What a change of events!

Same. I played this beta for 2 hours but just had to stop because everything felt awful, from gunplay to frame stuttering to awful map design to the numerous glitches. Glad I didn't preorder this game and yikes for anyone who did
I remember when battlefield 1 came out, and it was a totally unique experience that felt like you were playing a movie. 2042 just feels like a re-skinned warzone.
@@kuza3 I didn’t play bf1 but I can recall seeing people saying it was too different. Anyways it was a huge mistake of them making ww1 and ww2 games back to back, it was 6 years and people got so tired
I remember booting up Battlefield 1 and being awe of the spectacle of it all. Matches of that game were stunning IMO. It had an epic and grand feeling that was lacking in the competition. This beta put me to sleep
I feel like they just chose a shit map. I mean half the game lobby at least is always on the skyscrapers. Hopefully this is the worst map cus if there’s anything worse than this it’s DOA.
Even BF1 lacked content at launch but I don't remember bugs and glitches like this. I finally developed a liking to BFV after putting some hours into it since all the updates. (Visibility is still trash unless playing Recon though) BF1 remains the better game of the two.
The “it’s just a beta” kids seemed to have forgotten previous entries of BF, and games like fallout 76. If the beta isn’t at least 6-9 months before launch. It’s a demo or a stress test at most
The main problem isn't even "beta" issues like bugs, performance, UI, etc. The core of the game is massively flawed which is something no day one patch will fix.
I wish they brought over all the good features of BF5, like the destruction, fortifications and movement to a BF4 style game. How did they drop the ball so hard? Bf1 and BF4 are my go to BF games at the moment
If only they implemented: BFV Movement BF1 Atmosphere BF4 Vehicles feel BF3 Type maps and gun feel And you know, don't strip the core elements that make battlefield fun. They quite had it in front of them. Im all for the storm and such, but I'd trade it anyday for a basic core elements to work like butter.
im going to say its nice to see a video that talks about the issues with the game in detail. Alot of big BF streamers / youtubers have stepped around the issues or just flat out wont give there opinions because they dont want to talk shit about a game and have a chance for Dice / EA to shut the door on them in the future.
Soo true! A lot of them are implying “ it’s good and I can’t wait, a little issues here but nothing to see here. It’s a good game!” I am here like a dumb ass going wtf game are they playing!?
I don't think they do actual alpha/beta tests based on what they even say which is that it's a separate branch taken out of active development and polished a bit for it's own temporary purposes. An alpha could be part of that 'in development' line but it should be fairly in-line and those polishes should be applied to the main build. Beta should be "We are done developing and are now polishing the game (Everything is in, just bugfixing it all now) so we need help to find and fix bugs before release" and well... 3 days doesn't do that >_> It was meant to be a marketing build but oops lol.
@@Androwski69 this, whole alpha beta concept with AAA games is fucked. Lackluster demo some days before release is no fkn beta. AAA CEO shitheads need to learn that.
Jooo that's me :)15:47 I have to say there is something in the core gameplay I very much enjoy. Evidently. But I also have to agree with all the points you made. It feels like there are about 100 different polishing and quality of life features that previous battlefield games had, that wouldn't have clashed with the 2042 vision. In addition to all the new problem. This could be a fantastic game in 2 years from now. So it IS the true BF4 successor ;)
@Slade Western If anything that adds to the point more no? Halo's beta is streets ahead of Battfield's by far despite beings months away from a release. And 2042 was delayed as well, so it makes even less sense for why the beta is the way it is.
You can add Stodeh and Tactical Brit to that, the shilling is so obvious. Jack's not so bad, he's not hyping the game up nearly so much and is a bit more critical than the others.
Oddly enough, it's rough shape isn't even my main concern. It's that the vision of the specialists/(no)classes/gadgets is horribly wrong for the series, and somehow they (Dice) believed they could gut it from a Battlefield game and their player base would just accept it.
As others have pointed out, the game seems hinged on the 'hero' characters and their inevitable heavy monetisation. You ain't gonna see this mechanic reworked, ever.
I fucking hate this overwatch type shit. Just give me generic Joe medic that just says funny shit every time he gets shot at. Bf4 and 3’s infantry have more character than these “specialists”.
@@WeedDays if they wanted the hype train to sty then they shouldn't have released there version of F76 for a beta if anything it killed the hype for many players.
everyone i've seen has just complained about the beta being glitchy and such as..as if its not a beta.. haven't come across anyone praising it yet surprisingly, but you already know they're just trying not to get blacklisted
Especially the people on EA's payroll. Pretending to be an independent reviewer while taking handouts and headpats from publishers was always hypocritical to me.
This is the most clear and concise explaination of the problems. You seem very unbiased and just want a qualify game. Well done. Dice needs to pay massive attention to this video
…Why? I had no idea they made all these changes (aka removals) to the class and squad system. Like, THAT was the reason I loved Battlefield, getting into a squad and working together with them. After hearing this I don’t think I have any interest in this one and that’s super disappointing. I just recently picked up Hell Let Loose and have been having a blast with that at least.
@@1336u to be honest I'm surprised they did not implement character personalisation (like in black dessert online) and let players just change eq plus buy cosmetics. $$
I think what they want to do is they don’t want you to HAVE to play a class you don’t like just cause it’s missing in your team, so they just want players to be able to be way more flexible.
If you’re truly hardcore like me? You make your own hardcore mode. Put on a blindfold and have a loved one repeatedly slap you in the face while you play.
@@MrMightyZ What if you don't have loved ones? Can you do the "stranger" where you sit on your hand until it goes numb and then slap your own face with it?
The bugs and performance will be fixed. The lack of the iconic, legendary classes, the lack of distinct languages and distinct uniforms for each faction in the main 2042 experience was enough for me to get a refund on my pre order. All of the other popular and iconic quality of life elements of the UI that DICE just throw out the window is also mind blowing. I sat out cops and robbers(Hardline) I can sit out Apex Legends 2042.
Even the movement feels like something I can get over but the decision to fundamentally gut squad play is by far the worst game design decision I've seen BF make in a long ass time.
Just some advice, never pre order any triple a titles anymore ESPECIALLY in today’s market. At the state we’re at with video games right now it isn’t a good idea.
Imagine pre-ordering a game you didn't even decide to look into. They advertised in like everything that there will be specialist operators instead of the well known regular class system.
How is it that 2 generations ago we had much more technical marvels with destruction physics compared to now? They still happen but i always found it weird how so much progress gets thrown out the window or flat out ignored
@@SemperSalam but that's what I don't understand, if it was already done before wouldn't it be easier now to pull it off? Especially if it's by the same studio/publisher?
@@Arcademan09 Implementing stuff from previous gen and upgrading new stuff is very hard to do because they have certain limitations, if they want to increase the size of the map they need to downgrade some stuff from previous games. Hence the movement in this feels floaty and fast paced compared to bf1 and bfV because map has become large. Animations feel lacking compared to bf1 and bfV because again they want to game to play fast paced due to map being large.
It is a question of what do you want to have in your game. A lot of big "set pieces" like the rocket launch area or the big "scyscraper" do not work well with full destructability. Also zip lines, elevators and all that stuff do not work with that. Then it is also a question of game balance and feel. Bad Company 2 had amazing destruction posibilities. Which was super fun but after a couple minutes of gameplay the whole map turned into a single flat surface because every building on it was destroyed. Which is a problem for infantry because a single tank can lock down half of the map and many players start to snipe from super far away because running across an open field without any cover is not fun.

@@MajorasLullaby Yes, everyone just runs the most op META character with a grappling hook and a RPG. And medics are usless because everyone has a COD autoheal. Just wait 10 sec and your full health again. It’s literally a warzone reskin.
@@MajorasLullaby The Game has Automatic Health Regen for the Infantry and Self Auto Repair for the Vehicles basically made the medic bag worthless due to how fast people can regen their health when not getting hit, I'm not sure if their is any gadget that repairs Vehicles currently. Reviving Team Mates is also worse causing people to just Respawn then waiting for their team to try and fail to revive them wasting their teams tickets. As for the Universal Gadget Shit, I think you can have something like Medic Bag or Ammo Bag, with C4 or AT/AA Launcher.
I have never ever heard anyone say "damn I love these hero classes in this shooter, they are so much better than normal classes with lots of customization". CoD has been obsessed with "heroes" for a while, and 100% of the people I have spoken to, absolutely hate it, or just don't care. It just feels "off" when you have "heroes" with lore and personality, in a shooter where the match can have multiple of the same character with "lots of personality" running around. It works in Rainbow six siege because there can only be one of each operator in a match. The old class system in BF3 and BF4 felt way more natural, since most of the time your character is masked, his personality isn't important. He is just another soldier with a standard kit to match his role in the nation he is from in that match. It feels like everyone is just a nameless soldier in this mass of chaos and violence. It feels right. 60 clones of the same guy with an exaggerated Russian man accent, shouting the same jokes and voicelines with "lots of personality" feels wrong.
Being a good squad member/leader(edit: and being rewarded big points for it) was the most fun I got from playing with randoms in previous Battlefield games, and they ripped absolutely everything squad related from this. Also it realllyy wears on your enjoyment of the game when the sky is trying to give you seizures every 5 seconds.
I miss those days. I had a regular squad and played recon like spec ops not a sniper. Those guys who always back capped even in metro that was us, it was great fun. You eventually learn having enemies spotted is amazing, you can see the battle line, the holes, and the respawn waves. You also realize a lot of the time people only run and look forward. It was great fun finding hiding spots in plain sight.
You could honestly get a ton of enjoyment out of playing w/ random people back then (BF4/3 especially). Can’t believe how absent team-play was in the 2042 Beta. This franchise has been gutted w/ every subsequent release.
I went to play bf4 after the 2042 beta and god damn do I miss it. Hopped in a game and it felt great to be in a team. Playing engineer and repairing vehicles for teammates or taking out other vehicles to support them. Playing medic and reviving people or making sure they had health packs. So much fun. Maybe EA made them do specialists for the money milking they can do with skins or maybe people just don't like to be a team player and wanna be Rambo.
"Beta" is just a way of having a demo without having to accept responsibility for any of the bugs. It's been like this since the Halo 3 beta and fans are still using the "IT'S JUST A BETA!!!" excuse 14 years later. Edit: And Bungie actually fixed issues from the Halo 3 beta, because they had 4 months to do so.
No hate, but halo 3 isn't a very good example. That game turned out to be arguably the best installment in that franchise. And battlefield is no stranger to rough betas at least dating back bf3. Saying its just a beta, for Battlefield anyways, usually is the case. Yes bf3 and 4 did have rough launchs but they were fixed relatively quickly. I'm just saying it can be a valid excuse.
I cannot believe how many people actually fall for the whole "it's a beta!" bullshit after all of these years of every game saying the same thing and every release still being buggy.
If it was one year ago, then I would say "ok sure, beta". One month? That means the release will be beta as well. And I have no idea why they apparantly, from themselves, release a outdated version of the game as a open beta. Wtf is the point in that? This release is gonna be as I expected, a pile of crap.
@@_.-_Crimpy-_..-. exactly. cyberpunk came out almost a year ago and it is still broken. Beta a month before release is a server stress test. That's all
It's jank in a sort of way that you would expect from an Early Access game on Steam, not Dice who's been around for dozens of years and made multiple games in their own engine. A mere weeks from release on top of that. It needs a delay, another year in the oven.
It would be more tolerable if they were somehow divided by sides, or at least differentiated visually. More similar to something like Siege. The way it works now will make playing Hardcore mode impossible, as people will just constantly kill friendlies by accident.
Im hoping that the full release adds more of them to add more variety and potentially allow for more specialization amongst your squad. Additionally there really needs to be a way to tell your teammates from enemies. That dot is useless and impossible to see. The specialists dont help that at all
Also trying to be more like COD because that yielded good returns on investment right. Why do I have a feeling these changes come from schmucks with MSc Business degrees and investors who have absolutely zero clue what the community and real Battlefield fans want, because their market researchers are as clueless as they are and can only find casual console players to build their reports on. Disgraceful.
They are completely out of touch with what the community wants. They are just focused to making money for their investors. And chasing CoD trends to bring in new players. Such a flipping shame
Well, everything from the games before last. I’m entirely okay with everything from BFV getting scrapped, it didn’t bring anything worth keeping. Most of the “innovative” movement was from BF1 anyways or was abused for camping (as the devs said themselves about backwards prone).
They took the critisism from Battlefield 1 and V and just further developed Battlefield 4 with mechanics that made shooters successful the last couple of years. It's a consequence from constant bashing and hating - and as soon as a new entry arrives suddenly everyone says "Well, it wasn't _that_ bad. You should've kept with the direction, even though we've been complaining constantly".
@@asheleydavies people have been saying literally this same exact thing for over 10 years. DICE never makes a BF game for "BF veterans". The difference between the Halo Infinite testing (tested 3 times so far) and BF/COD is pretty crazy. Halo Infinite feels so much more polished. Wasn't expecting it to be this good, where as BF I was expecting to like it the most of the 3, not even close though, Halo Infinite BTB is way more fun and polished than what BF and COD is offering this year.

How has such a seasoned franchise managed to keep going backwards? It’s insane they can’t make a game to compete with the games from 15 to 20 years ago.
Probably, this is another case of feature creep while also making significant changes in the engine... and being forced to release a last gen version of the game at the same time. I am genuinely sorry for the people at Dice who aretrying to deliver a good experience, but have their hands full fixing bugs in several incompatible versions of the same code.
They had two fantastic foundations to build upon with either the slower BF3/4 feel and flow of gameplay, or faster feel from BF1/V, but it feels like they literally scrapped the entire franchise and built a cheap knockoff of CoD Warzone without half the polish.

Then it is also a question of game balance and feel. Bad Company 2 had amazing destruction posibilities. Which was super fun but after a couple minutes of gameplay the whole map turned into a single flat surface because every building on it was destroyed.
Omg I totally agree

Beta has become a buzz/hype word to make everyone feel special and like they're getting exclusive early behind the scenes look

They think developers can fix a broken game within a month. It’s laughable.
If it was one year ago, then I would say "ok sure, beta". One month? That means the release will be beta as well. And I have no idea why they apparantly, from themselves, release a outdated version of the game as a open beta. Wtf is the point in that? This release is gonna be as I expected, a pile of crap.

Not a fan of “specialists”. Much of the game can be fixed with a delay but that by design is absolutely terrible, cannot stand specialists.
It would be more tolerable if they were somehow divided by sides, or at least differentiated visually. More similar to something like Siege. The way it works now will make playing Hardcore mode impossible, as people will just constantly kill friendlies by accident.

Dice does this every release. Remove practically everything that made the last game great in the quest to reinvent the wheel.
Can we also talk about how weapons lack any sort of weight or impact. The LMG felt no different than an SMG just had a bigger magazine/box.

@@Mr.Scott86 Yeah, for a long time Betas have essentially been purely marketing schemes. Halo Infinite has seemingly done what no other game has, make a beta test about actually testing the game. @@jarrodeaston6373 EA wants to make Activision CoD $$ and it’s going to tarnish the BF name in the process. They are dumb for releasing it in this window as well. B4B, Halo, CoD, BF. No one has time/money to play them all. They should have waited for CoD players to get bored then market to them
You will be missing out them. The game is freaking awesome (despite some bugs) imo.
@@coldscooter that’s the (good) problem. Lots of excellent games to play, not enough time to play them all! I had bunches of fun with BF1 as my first BF game. Looking forward to this when it’s patched up a bit
You voiced my thoughts on this perfectly, the issues stared me right in the face as soon as I played my first game. Hoping they can take the feedback and implement it successfully.
The beta build is months old, any feedback is pointless. This is the game we will get at launch. EA doesn't care.
@@sqlevolicious well this isn't necessarily the game we'll get at launch, but there's no way they identified and fixed the sheer number of bugs in the couple months since this build was supposedly finished. If they knew and still released the build, then they're retarded. Consumer confidence is wayyyy down.
I went from excited about this game to not remotely interested. GG EA
