I prefer the series’ approach for Bill’s story, though I would have loved to see Ellie and Bill interact. So far there are some situations where I prefer the game’s approach and others where I prefer the series’ approach. This seems to be a balanced adaptation while changing things but still being faithfull to the source material. Anyway changes are sometimes neccesary, would be boring to watch characters pushing around things and sneaking around or crafting stuff for an hour.
I'm noticing a pattern in the comments under the many episode 3 video recaps/reactions, i.e. people saying they would have preferred a recreation of the handful of back & forth interactions Ellie & Bill had in the game, to this masterpiece of storytelling. Never knew 'Game Bill' was such a beloved character tbh.
Did you play the game? Did you experience what Joel, Ellie, and Bill went through to get that damn battery? This episode threw everything about them out, to tell a love story about a corpse.

@@JellyfishHell My only complaint is that I which they went a little darker. Say, Bill survived the wine or wasn't able to go through with killing himself or something of the sorts, returning to the paranoid character we saw in the beginning, and thereby having some interaction with Joel and Ellie.

It was a good episode but a tad unnecessary and largely just filler. It was made on the basis that Bill was a gay character as written in the game but it was something that was never expanded upon on in the games. That fact is something many fans dont seem to know about which isn't surprising since it was more of a character biography bullet point during the game development but never mentioned afaik. I seriously think they explored his sexuality in the show to make fun of all those crazy conservative preppers out there who would take offense to this episode lol.

I have mixed feeling about this one. The episode was decent don’t get me wrong..But I felt it took away from Ellie and Bill’s interaction. And us getting our first encounter with a bloater..More than likely this was executed the way it was due to them wanting to take a little longer for the bloater reveal.
While it is funny, Ellie’s dynamic with Bill is basically the same as her initial dynamic with Joel. It’s a little redundant. There’s probably only gonna be one or two bloaters in the entire season. There’s only been two clickers so far, and by this time in the game you’d have faced dozens. They need to maintain the idea that clickers are a serious threat so they can’t have Joel mow them down like in the game. In the game, clickers and bloaters are scary because they one shot the player, but obviously tv Joel can’t get killed by them and restart. TLOU 2 even has less bloaters than part 1 so when they do appear, they’re scary af.
@@Bigburton3 alot was lost from this episode more than just Ellie and Bill's interactions and this episode just felt like a filler episode because it gave us a back story of a character that had maybe an hour worth in the game if that but they chose to write this story to be more inclusive to the small amount of people and this did nothing to advance the plot of the series if anything it took away one of the best parts of the game just to appease the LGBTQ
@@taylorhession1905 you had me going until you became ridiculous. Come on. The issue isn't "InClUSioN" the issue is that they gave Bill solid backstory and then killed him on arrival for Joel and Ellie. Bill has been gay since 2013, no deviation of story there. The deviation was having Joel and Ellie skip through a booby trap-less town.
It would be cool to see him alive but maybe physically impaired due to the damage. Like, he is stuck in a chair or something that made him suffer for killing Abby’s dad, but maybe something that wasn’t so permanent. Though, they would have to work around a lot to make it work. One thing that would be great is if they decide to go through with the Joel thing, they don’t end it on such a somber note. Ellie forgives him on that porch. They have happy times, and she doesn’t lose her fingers in the end, and is able to play the song. Like, if they have to do it, do it in a lot less negative way.
@@NoFirstNoLastName I agree, as long as they make his death somewhat logical, it would be great. We saw how smart Joel is just from 3 episodes, so him dying the same way as in TLOU2 would be just poor writing.

Man what an episode I cried 😭
When I first saw them I was sure that they were gonna be lovers ( I'm not familiar with the game)...
But their end was both happy and tragic at the same time.
But I know there are a lot of people out there who will hate this episode just because it's not between a man and a woman.
And then when Ellie read the part about the window and room bro 😭😭😭 I thought it was gunna cut and bill was gunna pop out the bunker 😭😭😭
@Renda Inteligente not everything has to be accurate to the game goddamn
@@dj_cmc2274 ya but they shouldn’t take up a whole episode going into this much detail about a f’ing side character who was in the game for about 20 minutes? There’s only 9 episodes and they wasted 1 on this bullshit
@@smokeemifyagotem8851 it was good
@@smokeemifyagotem8851 i ahve always wanted to learn his background n how he survived so quit whining people actually like this
I prefer the series’ approach for Bill’s story, though I would have loved to see Ellie and Bill interact.
He may not be an arbys but he got the meat
This is my favorite The Last of Us episode. I know that some people hate it, for the wrong reasons, but my wife and I loved it.
Frank was in Bills hole before they even exchange names. That's a great metaphor
@@Dustyphoto915 jeez, if you care so much just play the game. it's called an adaptation for a reason, it's not supposed to be 1:1 to the game 🙄
@@Dustyphoto915 A story about two people in a zombie apocalypse being together and loving each other despite the circumstances
Or a story about three people in a zombie apocalypse trying to get a battery
What sounds more compelling to you?
He’s a comedic character for the most part in the games, and his section sure as shit couldnt be adapted because 80% of it is running around the town killing clickers and runners.
They somehow missed the fact that bill had gay porn magazines and think the show just ‘went woke’ which is stupid
@@JellyfishHell My only complaint is that I which they went a little darker. Say, Bill survived the wine or wasn't able to go through with killing himself or something of the sorts, returning to the paranoid character we saw in the beginning, and thereby having some interaction with Joel and Ellie.
This episode broke me.
@BoobieConnoisseur really? I think it signified that love and beauty were still possible in this world.
It broke me for different reasons
I expected zombies in this episode and instead I came out with a prolapsed anus! Soooper ! 🌈
@Burger Town A hell of a lot less dark than being kissed by an infected fungus man and dying an agonizing death. These two babes got YEARS living happily together and died peacefully in their sleeps. That's very happy!
Still very curious about how he had a scanner this was before he had trade with tess and Joel
Fedra aren’t exactly super soldiers. Probably scavenged it.
Bill totally killed a FEDRA agent while out scavenging to get that scanner.
As far as the changes to the story ill say this:
1: If they made no changes from the game people would complain
2: If they made changes from the game people would complain
Id rather live in universe 2.
Nobody complained about other changes, like literally moving the start of the outbreak a decade back or changing the plot beats of the first two episodes. When they complain about changes here, it's just a smokescreen for homophobia.

This episode was one of the best representation of LGBT ive seen in a while, most shows will beat you over the head telling you their character is lgbt.
Nick Offerman was the perfect actor for this role
Frank: "I know what you are 🐶"
bro the number of times he goes "I know" his gaydar is IMMACULATE
I’m always a movie fan first and always have been but this episode is just an amazing piece of work.
At the end of the episode, my husband looked startled as he looked over me sitting on the other end of the couch, quietly crying.
Apparently Frank doesn't know about the Swanson Pyramid of Greatness.
lol
Honestly Nick Offermans acting always catches me off guard when it's a drama. He so good at being intense for comedy purposes.

I love how people complain about this episode cuz of the game. I love the game and HBO is doing a fantastic job of creating this world for people who have never played the game. Honestly having watched other adaptations of games like Resident Evil I believe they absolutely did a great job of creating this world. As a super fan of the game, I'd like to say that this is my favorite adaptation

Am i the only who thinks that this version of Bill and Frank are better? Because i do, even to the end how they die together
Same I feel like they took the theme of tlou of love and loss and that this version fit the series nicer
NO RON. DONT GO NEAR THAT TWIN BED!
How to make this Episode 1000 Times better. Bill Plays his Sad Song of a Loved one Gone. Frank leans in for the Kiss. Bill Draws his Gun, "Wau Wau Wau, i was talking about my Dog Dude". (Parks and recreation Style)

Never in to any gay stuff since the force presentation of many Netflix shows I’m been through several years, but this one seems to be so natural and warm hearted, just felt different and better
Hopefully this gives you an understanding on how gay people see most straight relationships on Netflix lmao..
Probably cuz they act like an actual gay couple instead of the almost cartoonish over the top way they've been represented in the past
Most gay relationships on tv and movies, are written by straight women. That's why it doesn't feel geninue. This ep is a good depiction of gay romance.
Multiple gay members of the production team were consulted on making sure the relationship was as genuine as possible
@@surprisinglysam3728 not even my gays friend like the gay stuff on Netflix. Listen to a Gay buddy of mine talked about how it feels more like pandering than representation. I’m so enamored by Bill n Frank’s relationship. They executed their acting so fooking organically - down to the awkward sex scene moment…
I believe Frank to be a real person, 😂
He’s played that imposing, annoying kinda person down to a T

I like to think it's Frank's eloquence that initially attracted Bill. "vagabonds."
I cried during this and yea I’m a grown man at first I was like why did they make bill gay they make everyone gay but I remembered he was gay in the game but it really didn’t matter because the way they conveyed the relationship really felt like it was natural
When Hollywood panders it’s terrible but when it’s done naturally like broke back it’s good
I have theory cause some people become lgbt in outbreak world of last of us. Imagine only survive yourself, no friends, companion, pet, or even family, all dead. And then start experiencing total loneliness even thought you meet someone but instead everyone was hostile, not just cordyceps but also raiders, it won't help your lonliness. Till you meet someone who just sole survivor like you, but instead that person was same gender, you don't had a choice but begin to feel relationship with it. That what i thought of ellie and bill experience
Gay people just exist come on

I saw some memes on 9gag. That's it's 'bad episode'. This was a tasteful episode if anything. If all 'propaganda' would be so advanced on this front, we would be long time brainwashed into changing our sex every month. Never played games, so far I like this series. Has some good potential.
Your first mistake was going on 9gag.
Your first mistake was interpreting 9gag as an accurate representation of popular opinion
This great, he made a great Ron on Parks and Recreation and just stepped right into a great Bill.... 👍 👌 😀 👏
I have mixed feeling about this one. The episode was decent don’t get me wrong..But I felt it took away from Ellie and Bill’s interaction. And us getting our first encounter with a bloater..More than likely this was executed the way it was due to them wanting to take a little longer for the bloater reveal.
Meh their interactions were mostly ellie trolling bill and bill overreacting. Not too much was lost ngl
@@taylorhession1905 you know bill was gay in the game right
@@taylorhession1905 you had me going until you became ridiculous. Come on. The issue isn't "InClUSioN" the issue is that they gave Bill solid backstory and then killed him on arrival for Joel and Ellie. Bill has been gay since 2013, no deviation of story there. The deviation was having Joel and Ellie skip through a booby trap-less town.
I really thought, that at any moment he was gonna, Frank was gonna produce a shovel and "El Kabong"

"I'm so hungry I could eat at Arby's"

free lunch! ron swanson prepares: ruclips.net/video/agzcxtFidPQ/видео.html
We actually do see a bombed out Arby's in ruin earlier in the season I think.
I mean if they changed this part, hopefully they can change Joel story in the second season.
It will make for great television. Also Pedro is a busy man depending on his Disney contracts they may kill him off at the end of this season
I wanna glimpse of Frank's life before Bill. I'm wondering how he stumbled into the area. Btw loved their story, it was so satisfying to see the beauty and joys of life when it's ugly all around.
