This is fiction, yet haters have to chime in. "Oh, gay!" You people who turn to hate, even in a fictional scenario of gay lovers...you are worth nothing more than pity.
Forced Diversity is a problem in modern day media, but nothing about this was forced. Quality of story and character depth was the priority here, and everything felt natural because of it.
That's how you should do it. You can't force diversity and inclusiveness, those things will happen by themselves, if you let them.
