I know right. If it predated the civil war, then you can expect some real really fucked up lyrics. What's the tune to 'I'm building a Home' from RDR2, then (Insert Clip form Smii7y and friends in that one civil war sim game.) Then folks made it less offensive by making mumble music before it was actually used for rap.

When I was little, maybe like 7, my dad brought me a cd with the words "777 games" on it. It had hundreds, if not exactly 777 games in it. Snes, Nes, Gameboy emulators with many roms and many pc games too. I had so much fun randomly clicking around discovering games all day. A few years later, the cd broke in half. I got teary eyed when my mom showed me the broken cd.

Regarding the “punch when you say kick” thing, that was actually a go-to move for Goku in early Dragonball. He started out by saying Jan-ken-pon and then either poking the eyes (scissors), chopping (paper), or punching (rock). As the series continued, he’d start mismatching the movements to surprise enemies.
I have zero interest in Dragonball but this is fascinating

@@FlexxibleFree i have the same one. I have to be given instructions 2 at a time (max) cause I'll get confused if you give me 3. Any more than 3 i just refuse to do it. I need simple small instructions. Its why I avoid asking for directions. I dont remember more than turn left then right. Plus when they add distance measurements, no chance. I avoid tutorials and manuals unless theyre pictures cause written and spoken instructions are hell to me

OH HELL NO. This was the first hollywood "wirework" film that started the terrible trend, but it was very subtle and tasteful and complemented some of the GREATEST choreography in Hollywood martial arts cinema. Zhang Ziyi and Michelle Yeoh's fight remain unparalleled. How dare you Arin

For anyone interested, it's "wuxia". It's off-putting to Western audiences a lot to see martial artists flying and spinning so much in the air but it translates into "martial heroes". It's super akin to the more commonplace fantasy where folks can cast fireballs and use other types of magic but instead think extraordinary martial art and physical abilities with wuxia. I'm terrible at explaining so I'm sorry!
It's a really fun genre to explore once you understand why the martial artists are doing what they are doing.
Yeah I never got how people are confused "THEY'RE JUMPING ALL OVER THE PLACE" but have no problem understanding Superman. It's martial arts magic. Sometimes they literally throw fireballs.

“Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was mediocre at best” is one of the most hardcore and insane stances I’ve ever seen Arin take, holy crap man
Insane? It's a so-so kung-fu movie with a forgettable plot and insanely good cinematography. The only reason that movie stands out is because of how pretty it is, if it was filmed like any old random wuxia film, no-one would have batted an eye.

@@jubuttib Well first off it's not Kung Fu, it's Wuxia. Secondly, it's a world renowned film celebrated for it's cultural impact. Third, saying "the movie was only good because of great action sequences, cinematography, and beautiful sets" is like saying "the painting was only good because of the composition, use of color, and understanding of technique".
If you forgot the plot that's on you. Most of us don't have ADD.
I did mention wuxia later ("if it was filmed like any old random wuxia film...").
It is a world renowned film, and it made a big impact, but that doesn't inherently make it a good movie. It certainly was the right kind of movie at the right time in many ways.
And yes, if you were to say all that, you'd be correct. But the movie had so-so action sequences vs. many other wuxia and other types of action movies, a mediocre at best plot ("forgettable" means a different thing than "I forgot it because of ADD"...), the only really above average things about it were the visuals, the cinematography and admittedly the set work was very good.
It's not a bad movie by any means, just not a very good one overall, but the immensely pretty visuals carry it quite far.
Every 6 months or more we get into a shovelware era of games and I’m always for it.

Playing an old PS2 game with no in-game control options and refusing to look in ANY SORT OF MANUAL for the controls when the game said "Press Action button" and he didn't know what Action was. Literally GLANCE at the manual. Instead he ran away from the door, attacked the torches, went to two other blocked doors, ran around the back of a building, all CLEARLY not "press the Action button".
He's not brilliant.

"Crouching Tiger: Hidden Tutorial-Skipper" seriously is a perfect summation of the Game Grumps main cast.
In Arin's defense, the in-game tutorial seems to always pops up when he's in the middle of a fight and is easy to skip over when you're performing a combo. That's on the game.
This kind of "quality" shovelware is the reason I get out of bed every morning.

Ken Taki was also a joke name alias in Kenichi Sonada's manga "Gunsmith Cats." He's also the guy who illustrated Bubblegum Crisis character designs, and did Dirty Pair (which clearly inspired the Game Gyaru designs). Check THAT shit out. Everything's a circle!

And I don't blame you for not knowing Dirty Pair... it was big shit in the mid-late 80s. But if you look at the designs side by side, Arina is _absolutely_ inspired by Kei, and Danielle is kind of like Yuri, right down to the hair colors... including Arina having orange hair with a blonde streak.

I have to question if Arin has even seen Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. It absolutely is not "just another wire-fighting movie". The thing that makes it stand out is just how jaw-droppingly beautiful it is. From the soundtrack, to the costuming, props, sets, choreography, framing... Every aspect of that movie is stunningly gorgeous.

This game looks pretty rad actually! It has some cool combos, a neat little rythmic defense system like Sekiro, and its graphics and animations looks pretty decent for the time it was made.
