    Very pretty 😍. I have wondered why some patterns cut a layer cake to 9 inches but after measuring some they aren't always 10 inches. I figure why use precuts if you're trimming each block.? I use the whole thing and adapt the pattern.
    I made 3 throws for Christmas and bound 2 if them the same as you but used a fancy stitch that looks like a bow and a bobble. Turned out super cute

      I have a Janome Continental M7 and just acquired a Husqvarna Viking Epic 2 and I LOVE it. Either machine is great. It is best to find a place where you can sit down and sew at the machine to see which has the buttons in a place that makes sense to you and has a menu system that makes sense to you. Good luck - let me know what you buy.

    I do not like to cut a block down either and often adjust everything to accommodate the layer cake.

    I like the self-binding. But why does rhe pattern call for cutting down to 9" squares?

      @aprilscraftroom  2 года назад +1

      It’s a great pattern -- I just follow it and put my own twist on things

      @@aprilscraftroom I went to FQS website. She starches the fabric so it shrinks up to 1/2 inch. That's why she had to adjust the measurement. I wouldn't starch these squares. No need to. I'm with you - leave as is and calculate 10" per square. Quicker and easier.

    This is a variation of the original pattern. I’ve made this one before. The colors should look like they are tumbling.

    I agree, why cut down a perfectly good layer cake? Also, I prefer cutting the strips first rather than adding the squares to the uncut strip. Cutting them apart afterward is annoying.

      I have a Kangaroo Aussie II. I've also modified an old table I had using a jig saw and I use that to hold my Janome. Well my husband actually did the cutting. LOL

    Is it really cheating to fold over your backing for binding when it's fleece or Minky? More like preserving your sanity 😁 Merry Christmas! ⛄🎄🎅

      Hi no rules your quilt your rules. The only comment I would make is if u do that with flannel it means there is only one layer for the binding. It is the binding on a quilt that wears first. So for a kids quilt which would be washed a lot, I would do double regular cotton or flannel binding. All depends on the use of the quilt and how much u think it will be used and washed, hope this helps u decide. Merry Christmas

    that was my thought, why would you cut a perfectly good square. I never go exactly by a pattern. mostly look at the quilt and go from there.

    Your layout is not correct. The blocks should be 'tumbling' down diagonally. You have a few that are correct but then it is mixed up. The block is only turned 2 different ways and it is easy to get confused. I have found that when you make this quilt pattern you need to have a mantra.....I say to myself L and 7 (that is the way the accent strip looks to me) and go back and forth between those block settings. Each row starts opposite the previous. BUT your quilt is pretty, you got to practice quilting and it is for yourself--all wins!
