    Earlier this year I started my dumbell arm curl journey to 30kg for a 1rm. I began at 22.5kg and have got to 27.5kgs now but not with form like that, I'm having to climb underneath but, each month the big dumbells are getting easier. I reckon I could do a 22.5kg with your form in this vid now but your one looked more like a 40kg than a 20kg!!
    I'll post a short video in the next few days for reference. Thanks again mate.

    Yeah, the dragging I saw a lot, also Larry did it.That being said, the strictest, most difficult and true variation is culring while standing (because sitting and resting your elbow on your thing helps in the movement) and following an exact straight path and not diagonally that makes the lift a little easier in comparison.

    • @RobVigeantRVJ
      @RobVigeantRVJ  7 месяцев назад +2

      I dunno I do a lot of curling… and the bottom end can help get through that sticking spot in the middle if you start fast.
      This starts lower than 90 degrees given the slight decline angle in bench and you start in the hardest range and have to power through.
      It is a straight path… considering the weight on one side.
      I feel for bicep strain and strength… from my time spent… this is harder if done the way i do it…ie… not rocking forward, not popping your knee to start.
      Starting from dead flat not tough and go from eccentric

    This is essentially a table curl which is being shitted on by the entire community 🙂 Biggest downside here is that the max tension takes place in the losing (or rather, lost) position. In my opinion, a slightly better variation would be starting the movement eccentrically - it could at least imitate some aspects of a fight on the table. But that too, puts stress on the forearm in a weird and unsafe way (unless you lean forward and keep the angle somewhat closed). I think, the most effective and consistent way to train the bicep is using cables. It is super versatile too, as it enables a lot of options/variations. It is also probably one of the safest ways to train (being second to rubber bands?).

    • @RobVigeantRVJ
      @RobVigeantRVJ  7 месяцев назад +3

      No, table curl supports elbow and angle of humerus is different.
      I said it’s a bicep strengthener not an armwrestling mimic.
      Plus I think 90 degrees is where the arm falls for the most part in a match… which is where most tension is in this move.
      If the humerus were moved forward like onto a pad the forearm would be in a good position.
      I don’t believe in “losing position”… there is either win or lose… everything in between is the match.
      Training good defense can be as effective as a devastating offense…
      Neglecting one or the other is like only punching and not worrying about getting hit.

    • @RobVigeantRVJ
      @RobVigeantRVJ  7 месяцев назад +2

      Because the entire community shots on something doesn’t automatically mean it’s correct… it’s possible the masses are wrong.

    excellent just add 10degrees pronation then suppination before eccentric release then you dont get caught off guard if they try and open you up. THE best AW can hold you any position up to one in off the pad forever then you burn out and they switch into press for the finish classical AW 101. GREAT WORK ROB thank you

    In regards arm wrestling & big "bicep curls" (obviously cheat curls) I think that it's not about the concentric portion.
    It's about being able to hold it and not open up - the eccentric portion.
    Devon's hook training follows the same principle.
    I do think that isometric & static holds are probably better for this purpose but they they are not "sexy" lifts

    • @RobVigeantRVJ
      @RobVigeantRVJ  7 месяцев назад +1

      Devon hook training is not on his bicep… hardly at all.
      Even Todd hutchings says biceps are not that important, yet when put on his bicep he gets opened up or injured … by similar level guy
