No, they called it Discovery because it is associated with the discovery phase of childhood, they were fans of anime at that point so that's why Interstella 5555 even exists.
One More Time samples Eddie John's More Spell on You, the producer of that song is Thomas Bangalter's (silver helmet) father. - instrumental
Aerodynamic - Sister Sledge's Il Macquillage Lady - instrumental
Digital Love - George Duke's I Love You More - instrumental
Harder Better Faster Stronger - Edwin Birdsong's Cola Bottle Baby - instrumental
Crescendolls - The Imperials' Can You Imagine - HA! UE HA!
      Nightvision is sample-free
Superheroes - Barry Manilow's Who's Been Sleeping In My Bed - SUPERHEROES SUPERHEROES
High Life - Tavares' Break Down For Love - that BONG-HA noise
I'm pretty sure the next few songs are sample-free, a fact I could say is that Short Circuit was worked on by Daft Punk for a long time, they even played an early version of it on live sets and Daftendirekttour, albeit only a small bit at the beginning exists on the official Alive 1997 recording due to sample licensing limitations, sadly.
Face To Face - Guitar from Electric Light Orchestra's Evil Woman, along with a lot of samples that only have been recently discovered due to being uncredited and just general Daft Punk's mysterious production, those include the chopped up vocals and the flute
Too Long I'm pretty sure is sample free.

Lessons Daft Punk has taught the music world
    Quality beats quantity.
The artist themselves don't matter, it's the music that counts
You don't need millions to make good music. That's what I love about them, they don't care about the publicity, money, or fame. They just care about making music. They changed more then just electric music, they set a standard that in my opinion no one will come close to crossing in a long time

The Crescendolls are the fictional band in the anime this album is the soundtrack to. The song Crescendolls is kinda manic sounding, and like a parody of pop, which fits perfectly with the part of the anime where the band has been literally brainwashed and don't remember who they are and just mechanically play music to a massive crowd. It's one of my favourites.

More groove-driven (some would say "repetitive" but sample looping is the foundation of the house subgenre ; you're supposed to vibe out and dance to it -- preferably in a club -- not fuss over every little detail). Plus many more abrasive moments. I'd describe "Discovery" as playful and nostalgic whereas I'd describe "Homework" as intense but dance-y.

I think most people who are just familiar with Random Access Memories are initially going to think that Discovery and Homework are pretty repetitive. But if you approach them less as songs and more as tracks that are meant to be mixed into DJ sets. The repetitiveness gives the DJ a chance to play with the music a bit and do things like bounce two vocals off each other.
Plus since I primarily listen to house music, I'm probably less aggravated by it :)
    Keep up the good work.

    • @BrianKapellusch

And to elaborate on the music. A *lot* of the music was samples. Check out a video where they compare songs from Discovery to the songs the samples.
And to elaborate on that funky bassline you dug in Voyager, that's a staple of French House music. My favorite subgenre by far.

I've been a metalhead for 12 years, but before I got into metal I listened to a lot of Daft Punk, and J-pop... now since like forever I am actually removing the dirt on these old memories and bringing them up back to surface.. Metal is my number one genre, Technical death metal, extreme metal, dsbm, Progressive metal, goth metal etc.. but I like some J-pop, Daft punk, goth rock, and video game music as well...🙂

bit of a fun fact on face to faces creation. Go check out some of the amazing sample recreation vids where they go into detail about how they created the songs. AA this is one of my favorites albums ever dude oh my god, RAM was also a masterpiece. Also, I get that it’s repetitive, but ALL house music is repetitive so it’s not really a minus or a criticism to me. House music is pretty niche though, so I get why you wouldn’t like it. Great vid!!

    • @DreginyReacts
      @DreginyReacts  3 года назад +2

But I did like it! There were 2 songs i thought were a little TOO repetitive but even then I stressed that I still enjoyed them. Keep in mind that this was my first experience with House music and didn't really know what to expect going into it.

Good reaction, just one thing, you have to remember that this is Pure Dance music, is repetitive for a chillin good time dancing for hours straight, don't analyse that like a rock band or metal perspective, is made for another thing.
