Stunning autumn colours to the leaves on the trees. Stay on the road to recovery and don't go overdoing it! ATVB from a sunny and wet Malaysia
Hey Jason, folks. I had a herniated disc L5-S1, Constant pain. I eventually had surgery after all the other remedies didn't work. I find now that like you I need to stay active, walking etc. But also a really good one is stretching your hamstrings... I find if I feel stiff, a bit of stretching especially the hamstrings helps a lot. Anyway that's what works for me... Best of luck everyone 👍
You are spot on, tight hamstrings pull down adding pressure to the lower back. I need to work on those. I had surgery too, walking I find to be the best but it is a mix of things, I'm currently laying on the floor with two ice packs on 🥶 All the best, I hope your back doesn't give you too much trouble 🙌
Jason lad. I feel your pain, literally! I've been suffering back pain for a long time. I know exactly what you are talking about. The only thing that relieves my backpain is out walking. Sitting for a little while and wham, the pain strikes. Lying down to try and sleep at night, can be so uncomfortable. I'm only really pain free when I am out walking. You seem to be the same. There have been times where it has taken me 30 mins to get out of the bed and get to the toilet. So frustrating. Good to see you are laughing and having the laugh with us through the camera. A great buy to get a flask for a Euro. Great to see you out and about. Yes, great to see you trying to keep in touch with us mere mortals out here. Reviews can be very informative so never knock it Jason. Many people really depend on reviews to make a decision on a product. Anyway, keep yourself moving, like myself. Remember, where you are feeling pain may be from transference from where the damage is to where the pain comes out in your back... Look after yourself as much as possible. Shout me anytime....
Yep the walks are a life saver, I'm really bad in the morning but after that first walk it really eases off. Sounds like you have a very similar experience to me. I used to wake at all hours and have to go walking in the middle of the night. Nightmare. I have two videos recorded now and I'll hopefully manage to get out with the camera after my nights, all going well. Cheers Alan, look after yourself and keep getting the walks 🙌
It's early morning and I'm on my second decaf, can't help myself but I like coffee for its taste not for the kick :) I love your vids, love nature too, I hike in Wicklow mountains almost every weekend.. Nature ties everything together, grounds you, cleans you. Enjoy your tea and get better.
Jason, a lovely place to visit (as often as you can) to just be and notice👍 A flask of tea and some biscuits (whatever your choice, though not sure about the white chocolate😊) in the woods is the ticket👍 Gritting your teeth and keeping going as much as possible👍👍 Some lovely spots in those trees for future reference and very little tea spilt😊 Take care.
😄 The tea survived, that's the main thing. I have camped down in those woods once before but I'd never explored down that end. Hopefully you can get out over th winter, I'm not sure if you camp when there is snow on the tops. It's not bivy weather 🥶 Take her handy 🍀
You sound like me when my back pops lol, ok so rich tea and digestives awesome dunking biscuits. Review whatever you can mate no harm no foul take the money and run 😂😂👍🏴
Looks like the polish bread bag you have their old chap, thats one my favourites. I think we don't like to be letting people down, or seem like we aren't pulling our weight, and then guilt plays a big part too.
Nice chat Jason, hope back gets better soon I feel your pain.I really struggle putting on my socks in the morning and seldom get a full night's sleep.Great to see you enjoying the forest and the deer you said you seen !!😂😂I believe you.
Stay off work as long as can mate, hat off to you for keeping so upbeat, and walking all time. Suggestion for vid you could do. Update on your dehydration machine, and show how you do your meals. I've just brought one, tells me how to do oranges etc etc, but not chilli con carne or stew etc. So help needed. Great woods chill vid.
I know exactly the feeling when you try to pick up something, and you have to half bend your knees andchalf bend your back I'm car mechanic and some time i had to do it 100 times a day. I had to buy myself back brace to keep me going. The other thing that saved my life was the hard foam roller, and 30euros shiatsu massage pillow from lidl.
Cheers mate love this type of video as for buying stuf you don't need: Amazon Black Friday got me again 😀 Hope you get back to fighting fitness soon until then keep putting out video's like this, very helpful 👍
camp stuff i used mostly was a battery operated fan moves air kills bugs makes noise. i got 3 rechargable mini bug zappers. of course lights. ziplock bags. sterno cans when it rains the wood is wet i dump sterno gel on paper towels under the wood its burns nomatter what. and a tarp to throw over the tent when its going to downpour.. i got a little portable sterno stove.. not the best but eventually cooks.
I have a new tarp to throw over my tents. I'm hoping that it will let me sit outside even in the rain. I haven't tried it yet but we'll see how it goes
Nice to see you out getting some air Jason, oddly enough I've just put up a similar vid where I look at a new stove but mainly ramble on about my health 😂😂😂 I personally like these little catch up and chat vids, right I'm off to find white chocolate digestives, never seen them before !! Great vid btw 👌 👍
Cheers Mick, I must check that out.. I hope you are keeping well. I'm delighted to have brought the white chocolate digestives to your attention 😄 hopefully you managed find them 🤞
I don't know you my brother. But i can tell that you are a very caring man. There is no shame in being silent about your Suffering, in fact you care about your Familys well being and try them to not worry about you. What helped me getting rid of my backpain was training my abs . The abs are important because most peoples back are over developed in comparison to the abs because we use the back muscles way more in modern life. That causes a hollow back and therefore issues. You probably know all of that anyway. Hope you get better soon. "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us"
Oh I'm not ashamed of being silent, I'd rather not have them worrying but if it were mental health problems I'd definitely confide in someone. You are spot on, as soon as I can reduce the pain a bit more I'm moving on to core strength and also working on the erector spinae muscles. Cheers for joining me on his one and for your advice 🍀
Thanks for the video. Have you tried any stretching exercise, you might not think it works but it really does help. Take it easy at first with some toe touching then bend backwards, I am no expert but as someone who also suffers back pain I find it beneficial. You have some lovely woods there, hope to see you camping there soon. 👍
Lovely video. There's a woods not far from my house that i like to visit also, just have time to myself. #mindfullness Make a brew with my favourite biscuit which is the Dark Chocolate Digestive (Lidl). Sometimes even make a bacon roll.
You look to be in a lot of discomfort Jason 😲 If Rich Teas could cure backs - you’d be flying it no doubt! I’m totally behind you with your back recovery and your biscuit choices. There is a dunking quality to your selection that hits the sweet spot in my opinion! Jaffas are another winner with me too - the finer things in life can always be appreciated! A bargain with your €1 thermos 🏆🥳 Take good care!!
I was under the impression that tea could fix anything, imagine my disappointment 😄Jaffa's are top notch in my books, the flask is doing well. I've even been using it in the house 😄 Thanks a mill for watching, take her handy 🍀
Beautiful woods, thanks for taking us! I wasn't sipping tea, more like beer and tacos 😂. And props for being willing to talk about suffering in silence. I've been dealing with back pain as well for the past couple years, not as bad as yours but I found myself trying to hide it from my wife, just to not worry her, but I think you're absolutely right in that we need to be able to talk about it and not just pretend we're all good. Anyways, thanks for bringing us along and I'm looking forward to your next video, whatever its about!
Cheers Josh, I reckon that it's only natural to kind of protect those closest to us from worry. Sometimes it's best to speak up especially if you need some support. I'll hopefully be out again soon 🤞 take her handy
Holy moly, I had to look that one up. Sounds rough..keep on moving, over the past 15 years that's the only thing that has properly relieved the pain for me. Fair play, I wish you all the very best 🙌
Sorry to hear about your back, hope you mend soon. You asked about drinks... I've just gone decaf, found a nice coffee bean that I can grind that's quite palatable. I've switched from Yorkshire tea to Yorkshire decaf, it's not at all bad. I'm sleeping much better and my head seems clearer.
I can't imagine what it's like to live with constant pain like that, I've had issues with my own back but nothing remotely like you do. Curiously standing for long periods aggravates mine! I'm sure you have your recovery nailed down by now so hopefully it's working 🤞 that's serious daily walking mileage you're doing every day though, no worries earning those biscuits 💪 Chocolate digestives get my vote and while I'm normally a fan of white chocolate it doesn't do it for me on a digestive 😕🤣
It definitely consumes your life but I'm getting through it. It's mad isn't it, everyone is different and different discs affect different areas of the body too. I'll have to try a few different biscuits, broaden my horizons 😄 I hope all is well with you🍀
Nice little spot there Jason but obviously infested with Rhododendron in places. Hopefully it won't take over completely but worth keeping an eye on how it spreads over the next couple of years. I hope the back improves quickly. Looking forward to the review videos.
Yeah that and Laurel is a real issue in those woods and the woods nearby. I really hope that it does too, I'll just have to keep working at it. I have one more video that I recorded a few weeks back where I was out looking for a few camp spots and after that there will be some review videos. All the best for the week ahead, take her handy 🍀
Get well soon Jason. lovely woods too, so nice to have it nearby, all i have here is the boring mundane Coilte forest. Looking forward to some review videos. total relate to buying stuff that i don't need! God bless you bro and best of luck with the back.
Theres some gems to be found in those forests, hard to find them but they are there. Thanks a mill, I'm currently looking at a tent I don't need or want up until a half hour ago 😄
@@rossfehily5354 you know what, I can't wait to use that bivy. My problem is I have too many shelters but yeah the stratosphere is class. The Alpkit Elan is almost identical but far more affordable
@@RamblingOn sorry to be annoying with so many comments lol, any tarp you recommend with that bivvy? Looking for something that would give good cover and easy to set up (have never used tarps before). Any wise suggestions Sensei? Cheers
Hi Jason. You have my full sympathy with your back, you can just see how much pain you're in. Did mine in once and it was agony! I actually did enjoy this video, just a nice chat and chilled. Hope you do manage to get out camping sooner rather than later but until then review videos will be great, I do like the one's you've done in the past. All the best to you, and I'm afraid I have to totally disagree with the rich tea, taste like cardboard and are absolutely not good for dunking! Hobnobs for me, reminds me of that Peter Kay sketch! 😂
Hi Jason don’t know if the insta 360 flow might help you while you’re back is painful. It’s a selfie stick that has its own tripod and tracks you and it’s really easy to use. I recently purchased one and I’m amazed with the Software capabilities.
I think I saw that a while back, I bought the osmo action 4 a little while back so I'll do what I can with that for now. My bigger camera weighs over a kilo so that's staying put for the most part 😄
Hello There Jason, I've been subbed awhile now (but never commented here, apologies, I did on your Insta the other week mind) Really sorry to hear about your back issues, could see that you were struggling. Your videos are brilliant fella, love your style and you're always a good craic, and re: gear reviews, I don't mind the odd gear review providing the review is genuine, and not just a glorified advert (I made a very similar comment on someone else's channel recently about some reviews being nothing more than that, not theirs though, they're great too) I like to hear the plus's and negatives of things. Also regarding tents, I do the same thing. Had 2, didn't need another, saw one I liked on offer, bought it. 😅 I do like it mind, it's the best for "stealth camping" (as the RUclipsrs put it 😆) Also, lovely bit of woodland that. Take care All the best Dave & Buddy* 👍 (*the doggo)
Hey Dave, no worries. I'm not the best at commenting on videos myself. I would rather not make the review videos at all but I know they are important for people to get some honest opinions. I see it myself where the reviews are not genuine and I have also wasted money on gear that came highly recommended only to find that it had issues that were just ignored. I'll be doing a few more of this type of video because it was nice to be out and check in with everyone. I have so many ideas for future videos, I just need my back to get better so that I keep getting out and about. 😄 I have my eye on a few tents but I just have to stop myself, one is damaged and I still want it 😯 Thanks a mill for commenting, I really appreciate it 🍀
The last time I had an MRI it showed that I had three badly broken discs in my lower back. It's been labelled a degenerative disc disease but that's only because discs do not heal
@@yurihuertavasquez9544 I've had surgery on it already. I'd rather avoid another surgery if I can because there's a lot of risks involved. I was terrified going in for my first surgery. The plan is to stretch and build up my core strength as well as my erectae spinae muscles. I'm hoping that a strong core will help to support my spine 🤞

Suggestion for vid you could do. Update on your dehydration machine, and show how you do your meals.
I've just brought one, tells me how to do oranges etc etc, but not chilli con carne or stew etc. So help needed.
Great woods chill vid.
I'll have to have a think about that one, I'll see what I can do. Maybe I could remake my old video and explain it better
I know exactly the feeling when you try to pick up something, and you have to half bend your knees andchalf bend your back
I'm car mechanic and some time i had to do it 100 times a day.
I had to buy myself back brace to keep me going. The other thing that saved my life was the hard foam roller, and 30euros shiatsu massage pillow from lidl.
I've had a gander at that pillow. I like the look of it. I might need a diesel powered one 😂
Cheers mate love this type of video as for buying stuf you don't need: Amazon Black Friday got me again 😀
Hope you get back to fighting fitness soon until then keep putting out video's like this, very helpful 👍
Cheers Pat, I've picked up a few bits myself 😉😄
camp stuff i used mostly was a battery operated fan moves air kills bugs makes noise. i got 3 rechargable mini bug zappers. of course lights. ziplock bags. sterno cans when it rains the wood is wet i dump sterno gel on paper towels under the wood its burns nomatter what. and a tarp to throw over the tent when its going to downpour.. i got a little portable sterno stove.. not the best but eventually cooks.
I'm delighted to have brought the white chocolate digestives to your attention 😄 hopefully you managed find them 🤞
I constantly see nice tents mate it’s just as well I’m skint 😂😂👍✌️
😂
Oh yeah I have been doing Yoga for years, maybe not as much as I should have been doing but that's going to change. Thanks a mill for your advice🙌
Lovely video. There's a woods not far from my house that i like to visit also, just have time to myself. #mindfullness Make a brew with my favourite biscuit which is the Dark Chocolate Digestive (Lidl). Sometimes even make a bacon roll.
Oh now you're talking, a bacon roll thats in a league of it's own
I once told a lady in a bar that I'd "show her me biscuits" and I got slapped all the way to next Sunday.
🤣 she didn't want to share her hob knobs
@@RamblingOn 🤣🤣🤣
I feel for you bud, nothing worse than back pain 😢. Hopefully you will be on the mend soon.
ATB Tam 👌 😊
Cheers Tam 🙌
Great video, have a back complaint myself, see a gentleman about it, and he works his magic once a week. I'll say a prayer for you.❤❤.
Thanks for the mention.
I get elbows in my behind, inner thighs and shoulders plus scalp acupuncture and just manage a week till I'm in bits with my back.
I'd try anything if I thought it would help, fair play and thanks again for the support. I hope your back doesn't give you too much trouble
I have Ankylosing Spondilitis - movement is painful. But I refuse to sit around that’s for sure.
Thanks for sharing your story 💪🏽
Holy moly, I had to look that one up. Sounds rough..keep on moving, over the past 15 years that's the only thing that has properly relieved the pain for me. Fair play, I wish you all the very best 🙌
I feel your pain, get well soon mate.
cheers 🍀
Sorry to hear about your back, hope you mend soon. You asked about drinks... I've just gone decaf, found a nice coffee bean that I can grind that's quite palatable. I've switched from Yorkshire tea to Yorkshire decaf, it's not at all bad. I'm sleeping much better and my head seems clearer.
Sounds like it the Decaf is making a difference which is really good. I'd probably get cold sweats if I went Decaf 😄
The deer was probably watching you wondering... "is that yer man from RUclips?"🤔
😂 That must of been it
Really enjoyed the video. Wishing you the best!
Glad you enjoyed it, cheers 🍀
Get well soon Jason. lovely woods too, so nice to have it nearby, all i have here is the boring mundane Coilte forest. Looking forward to some review videos. total relate to buying stuff that i don't need! God bless you bro and best of luck with the back.
Theres some gems to be found in those forests, hard to find them but they are there. Thanks a mill, I'm currently looking at a tent I don't need or want up until a half hour ago 😄
@@RamblingOn hope it makes the review! Do you still use the bivvy Stratosphere?
@@rossfehily5354 you know what, I can't wait to use that bivy. My problem is I have too many shelters but yeah the stratosphere is class. The Alpkit Elan is almost identical but far more affordable
@@RamblingOn cheers bro, saw a video on the two with the lads giving the stratosphere the edge. Be class to have alpkit stores here in Ireland
I don't know what all the hype is with these hob knobs. I may give them a bash and see for myself. I love that sketch, Peter Kay is a legend
Hello There Jason,
I've been subbed awhile now (but never commented here, apologies, I did on your Insta the other week mind)
Really sorry to hear about your back issues, could see that you were struggling.
😅 I do like it mind, it's the best for "stealth camping" (as the RUclipsrs put it 😆)
Also, lovely bit of woodland that.
Take care
All the best
Dave & Buddy* 👍
(*the doggo)
Hey Dave, no worries. I'm not the best at commenting on videos myself.
I would rather not make the review videos at all but I know they are important for people to get some honest opinions. I see it myself where the reviews are not genuine and I have also wasted money on gear that came highly recommended only to find that it had issues that were just ignored.
I'll be doing a few more of this type of video because it was nice to be out and check in with everyone. I have so many ideas for future videos, I just need my back to get better so that I keep getting out and about.
😄 I have my eye on a few tents but I just have to stop myself, one is damaged and I still want it 😯
Thanks a mill for commenting, I really appreciate it 🍀
Hello. What kind of problem do you have in your back. ¿? Scoliosis
The last time I had an MRI it showed that I had three badly broken discs in my lower back. It's been labelled a degenerative disc disease but that's only because discs do not heal
Ok. But can you get surgery? Is possible?
@@yurihuertavasquez9544 I've had surgery on it already. I'd rather avoid another surgery if I can because there's a lot of risks involved. I was terrified going in for my first surgery.
The plan is to stretch and build up my core strength as well as my erectae spinae muscles. I'm hoping that a strong core will help to support my spine 🤞
U are now my favorite Irish hiker 🇮🇪💪💯.u talk real stuff stay strong bro .stay away from the church don't be like Derek Cullen he lost me with he's bible bashing shit🤣😂🤣
Only now? 🤣 shockin carry on 😄 I've been following Derek's videos, I think he's doing a cracking job. Hopefully he'll keep the videos coming when he has finished his walk 🤞
