This is the third video I've watched on how to do this. I've got an '82 K10 with bad front axle u joints. You are the only one of the three videos that actually showed removing the axle itself(which is what I wanted to see). Thank you
Just subscribed, been watching. I'm impressed ! Keeping mine stock, maybe you should have a giveaway for your unusable parts ,lol. What is the socket size ? Maybe use a slide hammer next time .I thought there was a shim that went on between the hub and rim. It controls the camber angle. The shim is thick on one side, thin on the other. So it needs to back just as it was taken off.
No, the fronts don't have C-Clips... they pull right out.... and they slip right back in to... You may have to search a little bit for the hole when putting them back in but it's easy...
Hello! Excellent video!! At 14:07, you mentioned that the lower ball joint uses a lock nut. How did you get the nut torqued down without making the lower ball joint stud spin? I'm trying to install new Moog ball joints on my '83 K10 and can't figure this part out!
So my MOOG ball joints had a slot in the ball joint stud to hold the stud from turning with. I had to make a special 3/8 socket to fit into this slot to hold the stud from spinning while tightening with a wrench. Once it’s tight enough you should be good to get a socket on it and a torque wrench
No tool required. Make sure you don't have the lower grease fitting installed. Use a jack on the bottom of the lower ball joint, jack it up to bear the weight. Then torque the nut down. Just did mine today
You can also just tighten up the top ball joint with a little pressure and it will pull the bottom one up and into the hole enough that it won't spin and then you can torque it but then make sure to go back and properly torque the spanner sleeve on the top and then properly torque the top bolt as well.
Hi very intéresant video it is possible give me a ref part for bearing ,seal bearing and u joint for axle and lower and upper ball joint !!!! for my k5 thx ( i m French sorry for my english)

Best front end bar none than the new tech stuff out there as long as it's greased will last longer take more abuse than the new stuff
