Love, Stacey David. One of the best ones on TV. Used to watch him all the time and I'm glad he's on RUclips. One thing about these shows that I realized now that I'm older is you only get the highlights. A project like this would take me weeks or maybe even months to complete. But still a great show

Why do people whine about the money put into this truck? For me, I need to tear into everything shown here (and then some). Watching someone who is able (money, skill, etc.) to do this is a HUGE help in planning and doing my upcoming projects. The how-to gives me insight in what's involved and what to look for when doing it. Makes the "grocery-shopping" and tooling up prep work easier, too. I'm not lifting, but I have bad ball joints in my 10bolt and shot springs in the rear, junk brakes and honestly afraid of what I'll find when i tear into my truck.
I'm not driving it much and baby it when I do. I don't want it down for a long time, so I'll get what I need and do it and not be without a pickup for very long. These shows are a big help, especially when the subject matter is exactly what I'm working on. Thanks Stacey David for doing this!

I’ve since sold but had an 84 GMC truck with a 6” lift kit for around 2 decades, and learned a lot from this video . I’ve always heard about the shock mounts being weak and now I see why .
The steering was very interesting to me to, as I always believed I may have had a little flex in the frame where the steering box is bolted . I heard there’s a plate you can buy and weld to the frame under the steering box to stiffen the frame , but I’d be interested to see how your truck steers with the upgraded box and other components.
Subscribed and liked (although I’ll never own another 😢)

If this truck had EFI, I'd swap out the pump while the bed was off. It would save me from having to drop the tank a few years after installation. In addition, it is a great time for a 255 LPH pump if the engine will eventually be modified.

Those front shock mounts look like Ford pieces. Ehh I'll pardon that.
I really dislike those shackle flips in the back. The ORD unit is definitely beef. The shackle flip pushes hard on the spring in the opposite way it's supposed to move. The pinion angle can be corrected but your springs are at a totally different angle now. That affects your roll center.
Those shackle flips are great for offroading but if you use your truck on the street, work, load, or tow... I would never shackle flip.

These body style chevys are my favorite trucks. The only drawback is very weak frames. During my career I have crushed hundreds of these as end of life vehicles. The frames always bend behind the cab until it bottoms out against the flood of the crusher. Then the frame fails catastrophically at the engine mounts it the engine is inside the frame when we crush it. Other than these weaknesses, it is one hell of a truck. I wish GM still made these. An LS engine with 8L90 would be a great Powertrain!

@@WilleJamesHuff The full-floating 14-Bolt was used on 2wd 3/4 Ton trucks from 1973-1996 and on the 4wd trucks from 1973-2000. Yes, there were also lots of semi-floaters out there in the 80's-early 2000's but so were the full-floaters.
