So here it is. Uwe Boll's Far Cry Movie. This is easily the video I've spent the most time working on and it's also the one I somehow managed to get out in the quickest time possible. See? Uwe Boll movies are absolutely batshit insane, ESPECIALLY for game adapted movies.
Far Cry blew me away when it came out; the fresh tropical setting, the feeling of non-linearity, the music, gunplay etc
Felt like the first FPS to give HL2 a run for it's money. Then we had F.E.A.R not long after, which also promoted it's enemy A.I.
And here we are, in 2022, with absolutely moronic enemies. oh well.
But muh graphics
Ironically the graphics of Far Cry were fantastic at the time, too - they just made sure there was more to it than that
What I find 'interesting' (to put it one way) is how games today seem to focus so much on graphics at the expense of everything else - but it doesn't seem like we've seen the sort of huge leaps in graphics like we used to. And yet, somehow, so many other aspects of contemporary games have also suffered in the meantime
The lack of ambition in many (#notall) modern AAA games is disappointing - but considering how much they cost to make, they likely can't afford to _be_ ambitious

@@reaps912 I think it is because a lot of AAA games need to impress investors. And fancy looking graphics is easier to present than trying to trough things like gameplay and plot.
You can blame the PS4/Xbox One's weak CPU's for the reason why videogame AI hasn't been focused on much by developers.

Review Postal, it is the most accurate videogame movie of all time.
Postal is great. I wish Postal dude's voice matched and he wore a bath robe the whole movie, but appearance and plot wise it worked super well.
At the end of the movie it's all just kids being shot and killed and the creator of Postal comes out and kills Uwe Boll then Osama nukes the entire country. Movie really sucked. On par with Hobo with a Shotgun.

Far Cry was definitely among the giants of visually mesmerizing FPS games I got to witness as a kid in 2004. Watched my father beat it and eventually played it myself years later and nearly snapped to the sometimes spiking difficulty. (Likely had to do with the dynamic difficulty option that should _never_ be used.) By this point with how Ubisoft has worn out the series with the same "story driven liberate the people open world" formula, I'm hoping they go back to the game's actual roots.
I think the thing is that a lot of gamers derive value from how many hours of gameplay a game will give them, and would rather pay $80 to log 1000 hours of mediocre radiant questing than $50 for 6-12 hours of well-executed gameplay.
FC3 was a nice mashup of 1 and 2 and had just barely too many collectibles but a lot of fun, memorable missions and characters, but I couldn't tell you much about FC4 other than rope climbing, pink suit guy bad, hehe elephant go BRRRR and three dozen skinnable guns that all behave the same way. It's like an all-you-can-eat pasta bar - there's not much variety but boy is there a lot of it so VALUE.

He's actually very smart. He knows a lot about film and he has more passion than most big directors. I used to think he was delusional but actually found out he is actually very honest and seems nice from his interviews. I suggest people watch them too! This was also very hilarious to watch😂😂😂🤟🏻

Ubisoft is supposedly going to reboot the FarCry movies and the first one they make will be an adaption of FarCry 3. Seeing how good they did with the short movies for 3 and 5 i think they can do a way better job than Uwe.

The first Far Cry truly was an experience for me back in the day thinking it was gonna be like far cry 3 and was overall pleasantly surprised I need to go back and beat it since my 14 year old self never picked it back up after getting almost to the end

I took german classes through high-school, and saw lots of German movies. Till schweiger is a genuinely great actor when he's not trying to be an American. Sucks in this movie though.
The postal movie is unironically good though.

If I had to guess, I suspect that the decision to cast Til Schweiger as Jack Carver was made early on due to his appearance (and also I imagine Uwe Boll prefers to cast German actors whenever he can) and then he got on set and they pretty quickly found out that he just... _could not_ do an American accent, and hiring an accent coach just wasn't in the cards. So they had to quickly rewrite the story to make him German.
And I mean I guess I can overlook him having a history in the US armed forces because Ex-Pats often do that to fast track citizenship. But what I want to know is how the fuck did this German guy get to be named _Jack fucking Carver?_ That's gotta be one of the most American-sounding names I have ever heard, did he have American parents who immigrated to Germany only for their son to in turn immigrate _back_ to America?
I remember that day that me and my dad tried to play this game but decided not to, because it sucked and not our PC that was based on a rotten pottato.
jokes aside, when i saw the screenshots on the back of the CD, and the first frames of the game, going out of the water to some shack, before it crashed, it looked like the most realistic game i have ever seen.

Far Cry is the one franchise that needs YET ANOTHER hard reset. Not a reboot, it needs a full on complete "start all over" but just do 1, maybe 2 if you must. Just keeping it cheesy and campy as it originally was with an updated engine, I guess the modern Cry Engine would make it look absolutely incredible.

I mean, good on him for doing what he loves despite the critics. Most people would just give up after getting a reputation like Dr. Bolls, but he just keeps on keeping on. And these arent just rando youtube videos either, hes making (mostly) full length motion pictures, and since nobody else seems to be able to make video game movie spinoffs, he's got his own niche genre to fill. Plus we'd all like to live in a tax haven as well, but this guy is actually doing it. And to be clear, I'm not a fan of Uwe Boll, nor have I seen any of his movies, but I what I have seen are plenty of youtubers uploading plenty of videos about how awful he is and how bad his movies are, which ok, fair enough, but its kind of low hanging fruit at this point, imho.
I didn't know Uwe Boll directed this movie lmao. I've read about him in regards to the Postal movie before but this one too? I saw it as a kid with Czech dubbing and I didn't really think it was bad, I probably even liked it. Back then I liked the game even though it was too complicated for me to finish it and the laptop my dad bought me for 1000 czech crowns was sweating to get me 30 fps in the open areas. So I just downloaded the movie (it had like 600 MB) and had fun watching things I didn't understand haha
