    There's something so unique with fallout 1 and 2, something that i can't confidentially say but i might think what it is.
    The entire atmosphere of the game along with the OST and world building, the entire game looks so different from 3D fallout
    The atmosphere looks so dirty, depressing, hopeless and agressive. Just like how a wasteland would look like
    Fallout 4 and especially 76 looks so bright and colorful, sometimes the wasteland doesn't seem to be a big deal too
    Specifically with the "sarcasm" dialogues from fallout 4, it feels like i'm playing a mad max parody with suicide squad or guardians of galaxy humor

And also if you consider the fact that most probably 90% of them refused to play the OGs for whatever reasons (like, because they're old, outdated, looks ugly, or that they can't into turn-based based games), whereas 9.99% other tried, and failed to get into them, for whatever reasons as well (like failing to understand the gameplay, or technical problems like the game's crashing or not even launching).

      The expansion is still worth it for the most part, since its end sequence is objectively better than the base game, but you really need a whole lot of mental fortitude to go through it, especially if you're playing without stealth.

      @Immortal Science of Hauntology It's indeed massive, too big in fact that I felt fatigued first before I could muster my desire to replay it. Builds are filtered in the first hour, roughly upon hitting Depot A, though, so if your build could make it past that, I believe you aren't softlocked into a bad situation unless you went out of your way to make bad decisions post-Depot A.
      My first playthrough of the game was a build that's by any means 'bad'. It was a jack-of-all-trades that attempted to do everything; all weapon skills had points invested into it, Subterfuge with the exception of Pickpocketing because I wasn't able to squeeze out skill points for it, Crafting, Psionic, and Socializing, I actually tried to play the game like I made a character for New Vegas, an RPG that's so generous with skill points that you could get 100s in almost all skill. As a result, the character had no real focus, and thus was unable to experience the side content for extra XPs, and I was already on Oddity too since I'm intrigued by how it would turn out (fortunately it was pretty balanced so I wasn't exactly starved for levels).
      The first real wall that the character hit, was...the final boss. I wasn't quite able to damage him enough within the time frame of my defenses against the tentacles (I also finished the Mutagen puzzle), but I was close to a level-up that could net me an extra feat and an extra ability point. Then I look at my Oddity table and found I still haven't gotten the final piece of Oddity from the Psi Beetle. So I went out hunting a bit of Psi Beetle and, voila, I got the last oddity needed for a level-up. With the extra points I got a good feat and invested my ability point into Perception, the highest base ability I had then which helps maximize my Guns damage. I think I then crafted a better sniper rifle for the final confrontation, and finally managed to kill him.
      This was all close to 1.0ver, btw. I bought the game a week after its full release date because I was still hesitating to try Fallout 1. And man, the Deep Caverns was brutal at the time. Still I'm pretty sure the build I described above wouldn't be able to survive the current environment of the game, with all the new added content and balanced mechanics...at least not outside Normal or even Easy difficulty, and it certainly wouldn't survive the DLC.

    5:02 thats because you need to raise up your weapon skill to 95 so,you know,have 95% chance of hitting your target? Why don't people ever seem to understand that? XDD You can do it in like 2 levels and then you'll have no problem with hitting anymore. Anyway,awesome review 👍

    • @Nighttimeqt1
      @Nighttimeqt1 2 года назад +7

      wrong.
      the formula for hit chance doesnt only apply weapon skills. You need aswell PE (not included for melee) and the range between you and the target. at 45 yards your sniper rifle is going to miss alot with 95% small guns. but you might be able to get 95% if you are at pointblank tho

    • @nigrum_angelum6655
      @nigrum_angelum6655 2 года назад +2

      @@Nighttimeqt1 I'm not trying to deny or refute your points here, mind you, just saying.
      I've played multiple playthrough throughout Fallout 1, 2, and 2's TC mods like Fallout of Nevada and Fallout 1.5: Resurrection with a character literally just 7 Perception for the sake of getting the optimal sequence-to-SPECIAL points allocation, and I never have too much trouble in THC relating to range. But! I did compensate all that with a good investment into the Small Guns/Energy Weapons skill. I think Andrei above is correct, within the context of early game, need only 2 level ups to get optimal weapon skill needed to comfortably reach ~95% THC, where you only have access to pistols and such, and at most a scoped hunting rifle which AFAIK has an innate long range THC bonus.
      Truth be told, I've never truly understood how far and deep PER affects ranged distance. I tried looking it up, and found no in-depths discussion. The ranged weapons supposedly has an innate range to it, but they never specify if it's the maximum range or the minimum range to use, and certainly no information on what does PER does to those numbers and to what extent; is it that 5 PER is the baseline needed to get 0% ranged distance mod? Or something along those lines.
      Maybe I'll try playing the game and test it for myself, or perhaps try looking up a digital manual instead.

    • @AndreiCatalin42069
      @AndreiCatalin42069 2 года назад

      @@Nighttimeqt1 oh yeah,i forgot about perception,you need to have it at 7-8 to hit well too,unless you go for melee,then you can drop it to 1. Still,have these two easy conditions met and you will hit most of the time, yet there are still people that don't understand that for some reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    To be fair, there is SOME indication of where to go. The opening conversation with The Vault-13 Overseer shows you exactly where Vault-15 is going to be on your map and which direction you should go to get there. And then when you go in that direction, you're basically _guaranteed_ to stumble across the game's first settlement & launchpad for a level 1 of sorts: Shady Sands (which goes on to be the place where The New California Republic/NCR is founded between _Fallout 1_ & _Fallout 2. as well as its capital city (its listed as "New California Republic" on the _Fallout 2_ travel-map).
    From there you can find people who tell you where to go to get to The Hub, Junktown, and The Boneyard (the ruins of Los Angeles). They wont be marked on your travel-map tho, you just gotta remember the general direction they pointed you in and wander in those directions until you find them.
    Then, when you continue onward to Vault-15 you find that it doesn't have what you need and it might also mark some places on your map if you interact with the right computer in there (not as easy as it sounds). But that may be an only _Fallout 2_ thing, I forget.

    "Ohh no you're right, we Mutants can't reproduce, man you're right...i've never thought about that and i'm a big evil intelligent Master-Mind!" How can People unironically defend this Writing? It's horrible. And in Fallout 2 it's even worse. A recycled Plot and cringe Pop-Culture references all over the Place, many Voice Actors that try way to hard and 80% cringe Dialoges (Hookers and Drugs and wakey stuff xD). Yeah Interplay made a good game, but fuqqed up the franchise themself with it. And then there was Fallout Tactics and Brotherhood of Steel, in which Interplay made the BoS the Good Guys back then btw, not Bethesda. They had no Idea what they were doing with the franchise. Shitthesda basically saved the franchise.

    • @iota515
      @iota515 2 года назад +1

      I don't know about "saved" more like "under new management". In all seriousness the yes the 'fault' in masters plan is sort of lazy and obvious but it plays just a tiny part in the game itself and doesn't invalidate what it built. Bethesda's fallouts are Commedy first, story later kind of deal and it's getting more blatant with every release.

    The atmosphere in this game is amazing but the combat mechanic can't be ignored. It is terrible. No game series has kept this type of combat system. I know it gets better once stats progress but it has the ability to turn people away fromt he game very fast. I tried to get into this game way back in the day (before fallout 3,nv,4 where a thing) and I found the combat so repulsive that I returned the game. I have played it now and it is actually decent. I even tried to get my mate to paly this game but after palying for 2 hours he told me to never suggest another game to him again XD. I would not put this game or fallout 2 above the newer ones tho. Interplay/Obsidian know what they were doing with the franchise! And all the concept arts and ideas for Van Buren. Yeah, that all would've been it that game! Deadlines and Technical Difficulties? Noo that wouldn't happen. Just look at the the mediocre Wasteland 2 and 3 games that we TRUE-Fallout Fans don't even play! It's better then every Bethesda-Fallout And New Vegas has nothing to do with Bethesda anyways...so who needs the Elder Scrolls Oblivion with Guns Gameplay...we have New Vegas and Bethesda has nothing to do with that game! @@Myrrmoasta Interplay is bygone force from the distant past. The reality now that Bethesda holds the reigns on the IP. What Bethesda's doing now solely rests on their shoulders, because despite seemingly recycled materials from the old design docs and concept during the early 76 showcasing, Bethesda had pretty much driven themselves to a creative corner long before 76 starts rolling out.
      And if you're hellbent on focusing your fury upon Interplay, know that Tim Cain and his fellow at Troika Games actually wanted to grab the Fallout IP when it was up for grabs. In fact, they've had all the in-engine demos back then, only to be completely outbid by Bethesda, who then proceed to make maneuvers behind the scene to grab the entire of the IP, when initially they were meant to only make a third installment of the series. (I'm kinda paraphrasing here, but it's subject talked about by among the most vigilant members of the community).
