- Jeremy Von Epp, Guitar Showcase tech, SMI instructor, and shredding guitar player for Venting Machine and The Watchers, plays an excerpt from the Venting Machine track "Shackled" to demo the latest member of the Boss Katana series of amps: the Katana Mini.
This little battery-powered amp features an analog preamp with 3 voicings and a delay effect, and pushes 7 watts through a single 4 inch speaker... and it sounds HUGE. Definitely the best small amp deal for the money.
This track was recorded in one take direct to a Focusrite Saffire into Garage Band, re-amped back out through a Radial Pro DI down to the Katana Mini, then back into a single Shure SM57 and back through the Focusrite to Garage Band. Jeremy is playing a custom Charvel loaded with DiMarzio pickups.

Definitely the coolest mini amp i seen for $99!
Would be cool if it sounds like that at the store with my guitar, I'd buy one in a minute.
Damn! That crunch is impressive
I wasn't sure on the brown sound as it's a bit corny, not that Van Halen aren't fun sometimes, but it did occur to me that it can be used for a general vintage metal sound with the right pickups& mids rolled back a bit. This was great.
Thrash Metal is allways nice!
Cheers from Portugal 🍺🤘
How about Blackstar fly 3 stereo pack, is it as good as katana mini? I'm still searching for a better one
Sounds bada$$
great mini amp , but demo was the worst I've seen for this amp. to each his own, I guess.
